well all things said, arent the presets more or less there as stepping stones to better sounds? gotta star somewhere. i cant wait to get mine for xmas =P muahaha
Stepping stones for users, yes. But this was Korg's chance to show off the sheer variety of what the MK can do, and they blew it. The more variety in the presets, the more places we have to step off on our own :)
I don't think Korg offers any patches, but their German site offers the entire MS2000 set of patches, which work fine with the MK. You can probably find patches from other users in various forums, too. To use them, just install the software editor, put your patches in a folder you can find, and then you basically just send and receive patches to the MK's memories. It's instant and easy. You'll even hear changes in real-time as you use the editor. The toughest part is keeping track of them all!
I have one of these little monsters in the mail, it's an awesome bit of kit but I really can't understand why Korg made most of the presets sound cheap and nasty. I've seen what this thing can do and when I decided to buy one I went to the korg website to check out the demo's and thought I was listening to someone playing on a toy keyboard, going by their demo's alone I would never have even considered buying it.
Congratulations on the purchase! Now that you mention it, I'm probably not doing Korg any favors by "showcasing" their presets. They really are dreadful. Hopefully people will read between the lines and see the diversity that's possible. Be sure to download the PC editor and MS2000 patches online so you can really make some good noise with it!
Yeah, I had to do this three times because it originally took around 20 minutes to go through them all! And if you connect it to a computer, you have access to probably thousands of (even better) presets.
Thanks for the video, getting this today!

I certainly will, it arrived this morning and I'm utterly baffled as to how it all works but I'm having a lot of fun. :)

How did you throw that paper at 1:07??
THAT looks REALLY FUNNY, the way you throw it........
Also, NICE DEMO!

Heh, glad you liked it. I'm not sure what I did with the paper--just kind of "flicked" it!
Of course, the epic box-opening scene was also sped up 150% to shorten it a bit :)

yes, that was epic. LOL good video, good laughs. :D
