Calling the opposition's nominee a drunk and a liar only serves to make you appear incapable of structuring a valid argument. I.e., you're only solidifying the image independents already hold of the DFL straight-line voters.

The great irony of Mark Dayton is that he's out there casting himself as some noble altruist while his trust funds sit over in South Dakota. He's shielded from the MN taxes he's proposing to increase - what a GREAT DEAL!
"Kill Minnesota jobs"?? Really? They are already dead thanks to the disastrous economic policies of of Bush and Pawlenty. It's like blaming Obama for the recession that started before he took office. Tom Emmer is suggesting that we go forward with the exact same economic plan that got us into this mess in the first place. Look at "Minnesota's Future" on the MN Campaign Finance and Public Disclosure Board Web site. This is about the wealthy keeping their current portion. $, that is what this is.
@mrhelpfulhands No doubt! Minnesota would be in far better shape with Hatch at the helm. A rubber stamp on all of the Democrat-led legislature's proposed spending and tax increases over the last 4 years would've prevented a nationwide housing bubble and banking collapse. It's all so simple!

He wants to follow the policies that got us here in the first place. Hatch has nothing to do with it. This is about the next governor, not the candidate that lost in 2006.

The DFL has controlled the MN Senate since '73 and the House for most of the past 30 years. As an opposition leader, Pawlenty has been hamstrung; the DFL just continues to send a battering ram of tax increase bills to the governor's office. The DFL is wholly owned by state employee unions and Indian gaming lobbyists. Dayton will be the rubber stamp they've desired.
The claim about property taxes is deeply disturbing coming from the same people who created the policies that led to Minnesota's property tax increases over the last decade. Look at WHERE these donations come from. Minnesota Future exists to wipe out smaller competitors for big business, not to protect small business! South Dakota has higher business taxes than Minnesota when you count property taxes and that's why Tom Emmer wants to use them as a model.
@scoobrs My property taxes have actually gone down for the last three years straight... no matter, property taxes increased along with property values during the real estate bubble days - when local governments fed themselves like pigs at the trough.
States derive revenues from sundry tax sources. SD doesn't have a personal income tax and their sales tax rate is just over half that of MN's. Their total tax burden is much lower. And that's what matters. The rest is a shell game.

South Dakota has an overall business tax rate of 4.9%. This is primarily because of higher property taxes that Republican politicians strive to increase because it puts more tax burden on middle class and small business taxpayers and less tax burden on wealthy taxpayers and multinational corporations. Those on fixed incomes go bankrupt.
@scoobrs It's important to keep the distinction between personal property taxes and property taxes paid by businesses. Those on fixed incomes are more likely to go bankrupt by higher rates on taxes they pay directly such as personal property taxes, personal income taxes and sales taxes - all of which are lower or nonexistent in SD. I do agree with you that higher taxes on businesses are implicitly paid by state residents, however. And it's a good argument for lowering ALL tax rates on business.
The problem with it being a so-called "anti-spam measure" is then we will be relying on the government to define "spam." It's a measure that is crazy for two reasons. It would kill jobs in one of Americas biggest industries, marketing. And it's a regressive tax, hitting the poorest Minnesotans harder than richest Minnesotans (as a percentage of their income).
The claim about the e-mail tax is a massive stretch. According to the PC World article, this was an anti-spam measure that would be small for typical e-mail but would deter sending millions of messages like spammers do.
DON'T BELIEVE this crock. They LIE. Emmer (or whatever the moron's name is) is a DRUNK.
