  • this game looks better than the final product...i bet you if they hadnt switched consoles and been rushed the game would have been awesome.

  • is it been out before?

  • Wait, where was the beta version?

  • @Bulletgamer14

    This was back in 2002.

  • This game sucked. It was nothing like the original. It got a bad reception because it was labled "Perfect Dark" but was only like the original in the sense that it was an FPS.

  • Had it not been for all the delays and changing platforms twice it would have probably received a warmer reception released a year or two earlier. This game would have looked fantastic for the original Xbox.

I didn't think it was bad, faster movement more auto aim like the original could have helped a bit.

  • please stop with the console wars you fucking retards

  • Lol the framerate

  • This looks like it could have turned out to be a really cool game. To bad it was pushed back, then rushed to make the xbox 360 launch. Maybe a sequel announcement at this year's E3?

  • Looks better than Perfect Dark Zero 360.

Gritty and dark used feeling of the game world Atmosphere.

Congrats to the artists of this version. The 360 was too shiny, the stylization didn't fit well with core concept.

  • For the original Xbox? This is pretty damn impressive.

  • Xbox 360 and ps3 is best Xbox 1 sucks

  • Ps3 sucks

  • xbox sucks ass

    ps3 rules all you xblowers

  • This look like it could have owned hl2

  • @frankytap fail comment of the month goes to you. wd!

  • @Avalancheau Feel real honored!

  • This looks awesome, i´d rather play this if it had better gameplay. The one on 360 is a piece of crap.

  • No doubt it looked fucking spectacular. Even for the original Xbox this is some pretty impressive stuff.

Too bad the game was the definition of average.

  • perfect dark zero is way different thats Perfect dark

  • @nuttysfunny23 N64 doesn't have the power to run the Beta. This is a Beta run on the first xbox before they scrapped it and made it a launch title for the 360

  • આજનું ચિત્ર

  • How much cash we need for all interesting things not being ended as unreleased?

  • art design has a little bit of the old perfect dark i remember

  • LOL 15fps...

  • Fun fact: Microsoft buys out good companies to develop for their shit system to, A: hold a monopoly on good games, B: make more money via xbox live, C: overwhelm competitors, ex: the buying of the halo project (which was for the mac) and buying out rare (who was nintendos right hand man) and making developers sign a contract that prohibits them from developing for other competing consoles

  • Halo was for ps2 before xbox as well.

If you look closely you see the same behaviour in the PC market by microsoft dating all the way back to their deal with IBM (back when ataris or amigas were most popular) to make them the official OS supplied with every IBM PC.

  • @Mugenwind123 Fun fact: It was Nintendo who in fact sold Rare LTD, and Microsoft was the first to buy.

Double fun fact: Rare's key players left Rare to make Free Radical, has nothing to do with Microsoft.

Even if Rare was still with Nintendo, they'd probably still be making the same crap they've been making now. Since the key people left Rare to make Free Radical.

  • @Ded5833

no they didn't, in case you didn't hear the team that left amounted to nothing more than becoming bankrupt and Martin Hollis makes crappy games for handhelds, hardly a dream ending was it.

And perfect dark 64 got better reviews than Goldeneye, it was nowhere near finished when the so called "Perfect Dark" team left.

  • @Jamerio3D

So who did you think finished it off?

    The code fairies I guess.

  • @Jamerio3D timesplitters series was the final foray for the best of rare before being killed by overrated games like halo or call of duty (timesplitters 2 was not as popular as it should have been thanks to halo 2)

  • @Mugenwind123 Better than PS3 i rather have a 360 than have inferior resolution, sub HD games and below 30fps games on ps3

  • @REPOMAN24722 LMAO. You've obviously never have played the PS3. Compare exclusives. I DARE you to. Killzone 3 shit on everything on 360. Shit, Killzone 2 shit on every 360 game too. So does Uncharted 2 and 3.

  • @b34ntown4life lol Xbox has twice the ram dedicated to games and a better gpu ps3 only has a better cpu, gpu is more inportant because its the piece of hardware that usualy bottlenecks systems.

  • @REPOMAN24722 So why is it that PS3 games look better than 360 games?

  • @b34ntown4life Actually they don't and they run at lower fps than the 360 games look at all multi platform games and the 360 wins and its the multi platform games that sell the most.

  • @REPOMAN24722 Yeah, THEY Do. Have you played any PS3 exclusives? I HEAVILY doubt it. Dude, I used to own a 360. Loved Gears, Halo, Crackdown, and Fable II. But there are NO 360 exclusives that look better than any ps3 exclusives. Plus, that was the case with older games. Developers are becoming more familiar with the PS3's hardware. They are starting to develop games on Ps3 and porting them over to the Xbox.

  • @b34ntown4life Hey I couldnt give a shit about the hardware between the PS3/XBOX360 and which is best cause both have there decent points and bad points but they both had something in common reliability! I had em both and got fed up of both with the light/rings of death but the last time i owed a next gen console was before the slims came out 4 both consoles. So in your opinions which console has the best reliability of the 2?

  • @SH4R9Y Honestly, PS3 has been waay more reliable to me. From a non-fanboy view. I bought 3 360's in 4 years. I've been on the same PS3 slim since 2009. But I heard that the 360 slim is much more reliable than the original white/elite consoles.

  • @b34ntown4life cheers m8

  • @REPOMAN24722 Hey I couldnt give a shit about the hardware between the PS3/XBOX360 and which is best cause both have there decent points and bad points but they both had something in common reliability! I had em both and got fed up of both with the light/rings of death but the last time i owed a next gen console was before the slims came out 4 both consoles. So in your opinions which console has the best reliability of the 2?

  • @SH4R9Y I only had 1 red ring on my old 60 it took 3 and a half years for it to happen and it only happened when i moved it to a non ventilated area so its my fault, it even states in the manual that you are meant to put it in a well ventilated area people just dont do that and thats why they get red rings, I have had bad expeirences with sony im on my 4th PS2, always DVD drive faliour and m friend is on his 7th since 2004, all slims. and I have had 2 fats and 2 slims all broken.

  • Not bad graphics for its time!

  • Damn this looks way better than PD0 ever thought about being...

  • Cool music lol for once some enjoyable synths. =]

  • When the player began shooting the wall, I thought they were gonna mark a smilie face there haha

  • What song is this. Please somebody tell me

  • Forbidden Fruit (East of Eden) - Paul Van Dyk

  • Even this low-res trailer of an early, unreleased beta build is a lot more true to the original than the steaming pile of faecal matter we got on the suXbox 360. PD0 was the biggest videogaming let down of all time. The original was a masterpiece - here's hoping the XBLA remake captures all of its glory.

  • I highly agree. This beta looks like what PDZ should have been. A prequel yes, but it would have been a worthy successor. We got the exact opposite.

  • @Shadowz41 & harvs4813

PD0 was probably the biggest let down of all time.

They should've had the original developers of Goldeneye and PD (AKA Free Radical now. The people who did the TimeSplitter's series) work on PD0. It's a shame they all quit and made Free Radical before Microsoft bought Rare and they turned into shit.

  • @jShazBOT Rare turned into shit cos Microsoft bought them. All the greedy less talented devs stayed for the Micro$haft Money and the innovative, creative, talented developers left because they knew that their ability to be creative would be taken away.

  • the xbla version is great

  • It would be better on wii.

Also the aiming system is the same as wii fps games.

  • The XLBA version is good.

  • I think rare must have slept through the last decade in gaming. Like you could say zero, kameo, and banjo were throwbacks to classic gaming, but I honestly think thats just the only way they know how to make games. Perfect dark control and looked just like goldeneye 64. just with glossier surfaces. thats it

  • Graphics mean nothing, hell, wouldve taken this if it had better gameplay

  • lets just say that with this being a beta it would have looked better when they actualy finnished the game

  • Why are all these people saying PD on XBLA wont have multiplayer? It will lol. Its been confirmed already it will. We just dont know anything about lol.

  • Exactly. :)

  • @Calvers06 Well I read that was local multiplayer...Maybe that's what people mean.

  • @Calvers06 Oh if you go to the xbox page for the game, it says 1-4 players, 1-2 co-op. And Xbox Live Multiplayer...so I guess the only thing we don't know at this point is how many people can play online against each other.

  • Yep. At worst it will have 4 players online because thats what Goldeneye for XBLA was going to have.

  • @SubtleDemise

I think it will be 16 because that's the max. number of players + bots in the original.

  • @Headshotgod That would be cool. I heard on the xbox forums that it was going to be 8.

  • This is the only title im looking forward to.

  • I'd still play it on the N64. Had so many countless of hours with my friends kicking bots' asses before school. Those where the days...

  • Perfect Dark for Xbox Live Arcade comes with online multiplayer and leaderboards and 4 player offline multiplayer.

  • When does Perfect Dark for Arcade come out?

  • Early 2010 if we're gonna believe Rare. So maybe jan och feb.

  • @Mathemoto

oh ya, how bout i fuck your mother

  • And the Framerate looks much much better than on the 360, on the 360 its like 25-30fps.

  • peoples...xbox 360 has remade the n64 version of PD and it is coming out this winter in the xbox live arcade they made the graphics WAAAAYYY BETTTER too they made look like this ....but the only thing is that there isnt any online play ...but who cares the damn thing still kicks ass

  • Pretending that one day that happens, not adding multiplayer would be the ultimate fail, imo. That's the heart of all PD games. The multiplayer! Sadly, PD0 really didn't deliver in terms of customization, but it still is quite fun anyway.

  • wait im not pretending if you dont believe me then go look on xbox live arcade in the "P" section if you have a xbox or i think you can just google it...but yeah its for real no lie to pretend if thats what you meant...

  • I was thinking.. maybe Microsoft doesn't want everybody to spend their time on PD online? It kind of makes sense. They want to make room for newer titles to take up peoples' time and money. Just more two cents by me. :)

  • Looks like most, if not all of the maps and weapons up to 3:50 or so made it to the final game.

  • the way you move and look actually look better on the beta.

  • right? didnt pdz feel a little to weighty and sluggish, aiming was so sloppy in the final game.

  • i wanna know the name of the song

    thanks.

  • Paul Van Dyk - Forbidden Fruit

  • is that the song to this video?

  • Yup, it is.

  • ok so its a good movie and thats my favorite line why are you gay for calling me italian FUCK HEAD I"M A MOTHER FUCKING CANADIAN AND PROUD OF IT BITCH were you from hmmm US thought so

  • I will strike down with great vengence and furious anger when people make fun or put down a good game or there company but after all that i would love to play this on my 1 xbox and good video

  • You know when you are a movie nerd when you are Italian ad you aknowledge a quote of Pulp Fiction in original language....im a movie nerd omg...

  • Perfect Dark Zero was one of the worst games ever

I though Rare was finnished after the games they produced after leaving Nintendo...

Viva Pinata is the only good game they have made since Bad Fur Day

  • info from wikipedia (says it all)

    FAKE

  • If you believe everything you read on WIki, then, you are perfect to live in the coming Authoritarian state.

  • i know (u arent calling me stupid right)

  • and if it is unreleased where is footage from???

let me guess it is FAKE T_T

  • thats cool with the rain

  • Oh yeah name of song plz? :P

  • Paul Van Dyk - Forbidden Fruit

  • thanks man

  • it is a shame that Perfect Dark didnt make it on to the Gamecube now poor Perfect Dark fans have to play t on the shity Cbox 360

  • agree..

  • I would rather play it on the Xbox for a number of reasons:

    1. Graphics would have most likely been better (even though they could have made them much better, but didn't)

    2. The online capabilities (which gamecube didn't have)

    3. It wouldn't have gotten that popular if it was on the gamecube, now it is one of the 360's platinum hits, and Rare is thinking of making a sequel.

Sorry bud, but it would have been an epic fail if it were on the gamecube. (but thats in my opinion) :)

  • i understad but you get two things wrong the Gamecube does have online capabiliites like Mario Mario Kart Double Dash and remember this is a Beta version the finished producted would of looked differnt and there was a sequle perfect dark zero is the prequel to Perfect Dark N64

  • What I meant was, their thinking of making another PD game that takes place in between this one and the N64 version, or I think one that takes place after the N64 version. And the online capabilities for GC are only limited to LAN connection, they scratched the world wide play in 2007 and it only worked for a couple of games.

  • i´d rather play it on the gamecube because: 1.graphics would have been pretty nice (have you ever seen metroid prime or rogue squadron games for the gc?)

2 no online comments, you´re right there

3 it would´ve gotten very popular because of the n64 game and even if nintendo made them switch consoles during development, wii and gamecube are the same thing, but wii has online capabilities

  • I don't think that it would've been very popular on the gamecube because the sales for gamecube were so poor compaired to it's competitors. The graphics would have been good, but they could have done sooo much better.

They basically took the game that was supposed go on gamecube, and put it on 360 with gamecube-level graphics.

It would have worked on the gamecube, but in the end........ it wasn't meant to be.

  • and Rare is owned by fucking microsoft :(

  • yes and soon it will no longer be called Rare as all there new games say microsoft studies on them as they only wantard the games and to use the company image untill they had run it into the ground then absorb it into the company why is it that every great game company we have in Britain is stollen by the americans

  • how come games like Golderneye won awards and sold well banjo kazooia, and how would you like it if we brought out all the big amercian companies next tie you buy coke is owned by some ompany in leicestershire(were Rare is) or Apple being owned by acompany in cornwall. im not saying you shouldnt buy companys its just every business in britain is owned by another company in America

  • FRD?

You mean that great pool of talent that made Haze and made themselves Bankrupt because it was so bad?

You really have no idea do you?

  • Rare wasn't a disaster you dumb fucking piece of shit. Rare's original Perfect Dark sold 2.5 million copies and Goldeneye sold 8 million. All Microshit did was disband the company into different sects and fuck up the best game Rare's ever made. So shut your fat mouth.

  • gay fag, there are still people at rare that been there for years. pdz sold over 1 million and viva pinata you dumb bitter fag.

  • 1 million compared to 2.5 dumbass. I'd say that's a step back jerkass

  • Wow calm down, also it's about 1.5 million and n64 had a bigger installed base, pdz was a launch title and pd on 64 was near the n64's life, not a fair comparison.

  • PDZ selling over one million copies doesn't mean it wasn't a shit game. Enter the Matrix sold over three times as much during its first month, and we all know how bad that game was.

  • yea but it wasn't a bad game.

  • Yes it was. It had virtually nothing to do with the original Perfect Dark, was clunky, was extremely corny, and the amount of weapons and gadgets was entirely laughable. The two games didn't even play similarly.

  • i agree that it was a gay ass game i love the original one on the 64 i still play it till this very day but yeah just to let you know that the PDZ story is based on what happend before the N64 story...on PDZ they are letting you know about her how she gotten ivolved with everything and what happend with her father and how she met Carrington and got into the Institute...

  • thats why they call it PDZ...basically they made the 2 games backwards...order: PDZ then PD64 lol i hate when they do that like with the GTA games lol it would be soo freaking kool if they remade PD64 onto the 360 ps3 and wii with better control functions Hi Res 360 graphics and online multiplay and online Co Op and Counter Co Op play and put in some new features like new levels and guns and Characters if they want.....

  • we all should write RARE a letter or type them an email to let them know what they should do with PD and how we feel and shit like that lol

  • they are sorta kinda doing that they are re releasing it for the 360 on the XBL arcade with some updates like better graphics and and stuff i think some online play .. same game better graphics and sound :P

  • i tell one thing the RARE company shold do is remake the N64 version and put it on ps3 or wii or the 360 and make it online play but leave everything the same sych ass the story line and the missions...PDn64 was the best 1st persoon shooter game ive played since Goldeneye but yeah if they do remake it then they better not fuck anything up all they need to do is super HI Res the graphics lmao

  • That is actually a good idea, but I don't think Nintendo would go for it. It was because of disagreements with Nintendo of Japan (Nintendo's American division was in full agreement with Microsoft, btw), that even GoldenEye could not come to the Xbox 360 or Wii. It's sad, really.

  • lol well it seems like Nintendo did go for it cuz the orginal PD is coming out on xbox live arcade with 360 graphics...im fucking heart dropped when i seen it but theres only one sad part to it though....No online play...

  • Not saying it's a total lie.. just can't believe they would leave out multiplayer. That's so sad. They at least can't take out the Combat Simulator part, right? At least you can play with bots by yourself.

  • first, on 360.

Second, none of you people understand that its a prequel, it doesn't have to contain all the elements, although Joanna Dark can be fixed, she was younger back then, if you can't understand prequels, thats your problem :P

  • what...thats like almost what i said i mean i understand everything aboiut PDZ and PD64

  • Yeah I know that, just commenting it shorter and supporting what your saying :P

  • lol oh kool thanks yo (AWSP) <----Add, Watch, Subscribe Please

  • Okay, this comment is six months late, but the fact that it's a prequel is entirely irrelevant due simply to the fact that it ruins the continuity of the first game. Joanna was originally British, had not previously met most of the characters she meets in Zero (she doesn't know what Jonathan looks like even asks what Dr. Carroll looks like in the opening sequence of PD), had no previous experience and never had any run-ins with dataDyne. The game is screwed in most aspects, story being one.

  • @thereaIblackcerberus yup, Zero was pretty bad, a let down for all, bad graphics, bad sound, bad music. Just crap. Paid and biased reviewers loved it as usual. One reviewer said it "better than the original". What a load.

  • @sierrxhadlin I think the Unreleased version they were going too do with the Gamecube was very authentic to the original it looked amazing.

  • It is coming to 360 and all reports out there say online play is included. Personally I see it as a shame that it isn't goldeneye but understandable.

  • yo tool this is not the remake of the original, its the beta for PDZ which went from GCN to the original Xbox (this) to xb360

  • I'm just excited to play the game with a reasonable frame rate.

  • you can thank microsoft for that

  • Yes this does look much better than the 360 version. PDZero should have been released on the XB and we should have had PD2 at 360 launch and be looking forward to PD3 on 360 or possibly XB3 today. And the REAL GENIUSES that left Rare should've never left and formed Free Radical. Those guys rule, they are the genius behind the gameplay and music in GE and PD. That's what was lost in PDZero.

  • The thing that's tragic is more that the current people at Rare aren't even competent enough to reproduce the features in the original game. Why are there only 5 skins for multiplayer? In the original you could mix any body with any head that you had run into throughout the entire game! Why were the controls so crap, and why were there so many plotholes?

  • the thing is that they focused 1 whole year in making tha intro cutscene of pdz to make it look like a bond movie, then they remembered that they also had to make the rest of the game on the 360.

  • this looks better that the real one...

  • I love the way RARE made there fps' look.

I always like the way from goldeneye through to the timesplitters, the way you look around with your gun has that semi-flimsey look.

And when you walk, you gun gently moves around. It is not stiff/roboty like some fps games.

    Bravo!

    Love that.

  • i quite like perfect dark zero, reminded me of timesplitters... WHICH IS ONE OF MY FAVOURITE GAMES :D run n gun n many imaginative weapons= good for me:)

  • omfg wtf this looked better than shitty PDZ yo i want PD re-make on 360 NAOOOOO

  • the only thing i dont get is rares attempt at a back story, for me playing the PD again on a emulator jo's pose in the datadyne elevator say it all yet in the book and comic she walks in kills 30 men gets wounded, captured , escape, gets wounded, get captured and so on to me she was a person who infiltrated and got the job done no shooting people in the street in broad day light.

  • dude look at the game riddick.....if microsoft still wanted to make games for the original xbox they could im disapointed that they have not made a guitar hero game for it but they make madden for it.......i think there is more guitar hero fans then madden fans on xbox......but i heard a rumor that next year they will make xbox games again hopefully......LONG LIVE THE XBOX!!!!!!!!

  • This was the only reason i bought a Gamecube and then an xbox and then an xbox360. I was sorely disappointed when I played PDZ.

  • The origonal Xbox can do better than this but still not bad.

  • shouldve been this!

  • this should be on xbins

  • Wow the graphics are stunning for the original xbox!

  • oh yaa it can take years to make a video game

  • looks like a young and undeveluped version of PD ZERO

  • looks like dreamcast ^^

  • This is actually pretty stunning. I'm going to have to put PDZ on and see if this beta somehow looked better...

  • lol no PDZ looked way better than this

  • if you like shiny, cartoony shit, then yeah it looks better.

  • the part at around 50 seconds looks actually pretty good

  • From a design perspective it looks like fucking shit.

  • keep in mind this was in EAAAAARLY Development then they decided to make one for

    360 and abandoned it

  • these graphics look so bad

  • i think they look almost as good as perfect dark zero

  • well they're okay but the scene with the snow and the trees looks really crappy and her hand with the gun when she had the pistol looked like the nintendo 64 to me.

  • yes but the dark rainy area looked really good

  • Where did you get the beta from? I want one.

  • It seems like a lot of this stuff was still used to some degree in the final product. It's nice to see that what we ended up getting wasn't completely different than what was being worked on for the Gamecube.

  • looks pretty good for an old xbox game doesn't compare to most next gen games except maybe Half life 2 but still it looks pretty good

  • How can you say something looks good when it does not resemble a real game?

This particle stuff would not be a possiblity if they had any characters on screen.

Why else do you think they are running around static environments??

There is a BIG difference between a tech demo and a game. This is nothing buy a semi pre-rendered offering of what they were unable to finish or release within the real parameters of what makes a computer game.

  • Well think about when you an environment up and running on Xbox Hardware that is impressive plus the launch titles Rare released for the 360 were being worked on for the xbox so I wouldn't be suprised if this environment could be rendered with a couple of characters on screen, so yes I do believe what I am seeing here is possible, this is probably not even a "Tech Demo" most likely a proof of concept, you know to test ideas see how it may look on the hardware your using.

  • Proof of concept?

I assume they started work on PD zero when they finished the N64 version in what 2000?

This was released about 4 years later and you still think they are working on proof of concept?

    Sorry you're not thinking logically.

Most people would have released an entire game in that time, so to see a background running at 15 frames per second and a few particles is a very poor show.

Perfect dark Zero was nearly 6 years old when they relased it and it was pretty crap.

  • Well considering they were working on several games at the time as well as being aquired by microsoft it would make sense they didn't release many games. Also the idea of a prequel maybe 6 years old but the Game itself most likely isn't. Also rare said it themselves they worked on Kameo and PDZ and were going to release the games on the original xbox but microsoft announced the 360 and gave them a full year to add on to Both games and have them utilize the more powerful 360 hardware

  • Half Life 2 isn't next generation.

  • well it was built on "Next-Gen" hardware just like doom 3 utilizing effects that didn't become common place until the current Generation

  • you worked at rare why didn't pdz make the gamecube launch?

  • This is James Bond as a female

  • it should have continued on the nintedo thing but they switched 2 xbox sadly this would have beeen great for gamecube or wii

  • The song is forbidden fruit by paul van dyk.

Which is basically the only decent thing here :)

The graphics look crap and don't even get me started at the framerate with no characters on screen. Christ no wonder they scrapped it.

12 months, away from release, yeah right.

  • Perfect dark is a good game series, i recommend perfect dark zero on 360, pure ownage :DD

amaziing grafics and its cheap, and its long out :PP

  • which version of forbidden fruit is it?

  • Forbidden Fruit [East of Eden Radio Mix]
