  • Jack Burton. Nuff said.

  • I thought about this, but then saw the boar spear at cold steel and it comes with a kydex sheath.

  • The sharp knife looks Native American to me.

  • why is he wearing gloves

  • @TMME360 why not?

  • @survivealist he doesn't want to get his finger prints on the knives uh oh

  • @TMME360 or maybe he dosnt want to get cut........

  • @survivealist hmm i doubt that, you know id guess that he's not completely incompetent with knives judging by his collection

  • @TMME360 well he said in one video he wears gloves to hide burns cuts etc.

  • @survivealist and fingerprints ;D

  • @TMME360 oh yea.

  • @survivealist yep

  • shanghi replaced this right?

  • We are talking wilderness survival and combat survival. If you want to go to either extreme thats your buisness, but this dagger nutn is showin off for us. Is a good middle man of the two extremes.

  • is the coldsteel bushman with a bowie blade a decent survival knife for the money ?

  • im sorry nutn i love my gi tanto you may want to look into one

  • there is a huge difference between the penetration capability's, a blade that is thicker and twice as wide will take approximatively 2 times as much force to get about 75% as much penetration as the smaller blade

  • @mars6190 whats the damage ratio though?

  • @kaldicuct a wound 2.5 inches deep and 2 inches wide vs. a wound 4 inches deep and an inch wide. take your pick. plus thinner blades go through other materials better ten thick ones, ex. the leather jacket and t-shirt your enemy is wearing. the smaller the area that the force is distributed= a deeper wound

  • @mars6190 that being said, why dont you just use say an icepick type weapon, stilletto etc

  • I have a bunch of these knives, and they're vicious sharp! I don't see this knife being used for anything but spur of the moment deployment. It's not an EDU, but a special use knife. It's an outstanding value. I'm disappointed that CS discontinued it.

  • ok, military will NEVER use a japan, china etc made knife. EVER. they will always bring a good old ka bar or bench made(or sog back in the day when it was usa made). using china made knifes are offensive and dishonoring the cause. police might pull that shit but when you have 5 guys pining you down your gonna want to take them out with a little piece of usa.

  • @xmoonxdoggyx you really are ignorant do u realise that uniforms are made over seas and bought byt the us military also sf and other spealized units us e chinese and forgien made weapons and clothing that if thier caught they arent easly recongized as american

  • @AmericanStory1

Ok, suck was a bit harsh it would prolly do just fine but by far not the best option.

Sharp or not, its about the pointynes? of the blade that makes it eazy to penetrate something. When you stab something living, the muscles will contract making it hard to pull out again. And the negative effect of a broad blade is that it has a bigger contact surface with the muscles = even more friction.

Im not an expert, its just my opinion.

  • im kinda mad i watched this whole video and he didnt stab one object.... sorry for being that guy

  • imho, that spear would be garbage. knives are last resort/sentry removal. surprise is a key factor. slipping between ribs etc would be harder due to the spears larger size.

  • I think the warhead would suck at stabbing.

The criteria for a stabbingweapon for me would be 4 main things.

Big pommels, to small and your and will get hurt when u stab something hard.

A not to broad blade, twisting of the blade will be harder.

A good square wrip, blood gets slippery and it will be eazyer to twist if its not to rounded.

And not shorter then a face :)

  • @PetOwner101

amazing steels come from the USA as well, swamp rat, Busse, scrap yard etc.

but other wise i totally agree =)

  • Woah......Made in China ?

  • @PetOwner101 There is nothing wrong with items made in China provided they have good quality control. Some items made have extremely poor quality control which give other items a bad name, but saying all Chinese made items are bad is completely wrong. Case in point, I have a cheap Norinco Makarov clone which has never jammed on me EVER. My spyderco tenacious is an excellent knife from China. If the company is known for good quality control then there is no reason not to buy from them.

  • @sikvenum82 there´s quality for every market. Chinese know it.

  • @lorenzolagarto0410 Of course they do. Which is why high end Asian factories have started following Western quality control measures.

  • @MrBobsrevenge and u sould like a bitch

  • @petowner101

I used to think the same thing but look up there reviews there weapons are top notch especially there machetes.

  • Have you ever used the Glock Entrenching Tool?

  • @PetOwner101

    hell yeah brother!

  • It looks like a Zulu spear head.

  • Since I'm a rather large man (6'4'', 230 lbs) I carry a short handle sledge hammer for CQB back up. It's a good weapon for thrusting as well as for slashing blows. One blow from my hammer and my opponent is a goner I guarantee it.

  • @ConfucianScholar I thought I was the only one! LOL

  • I like the sounds nut'n makes when he brings a new blade into the shot. BAMM, WACHAA, BOOM

  • tai pan sheat sucks

  • If you had a single shot as in an ambush the more immediate damage dealt favors the larger blade. For a face to face CQB scenario you need a knife that has versatility and can take a bit of a beating. Daggers are not really designed for anything but thrust and if teh tip gets knocked off during CQB you will need a hammer. For CQB you really need a true fighting knife.

  • @mcantar18c

what branch are you with and what mos?

  • /watch?v=HJ6nQGLeoc8 ---- my favorite knives

  • For a dagger specifically for combat, I'd prefer an ice pick. Cheaper, better penetration, designed to survive going through hard surfaces.

  • @85wifebeater

lol.... Sorry, I have a hard time believing that your friends have been stabbed over 40 times. Although with a name like wifebeater....

  • @85wifebeater

I didn't say I've stabbed a person. And yes, they do.

Take a look at blades that are made for killing, specifically for stabbing... the CRKT Hissatsu for example. Long, slender, pointed blades designed to easily slip in between bones and reach vital organs... like going through ribs into lungs or your liver, or down through the clavicular notch to puncture the aorta/lungs. A wide blade can't do that, because it'll get jammed in bone before it reaches anything.

  • he didn't annotate shit....

  • i think personally it closer resembles a dirk than anything else i have seen

  • 19:54 that looks heaps good... sitting next to the glock and with that bandage on it

  • The problem that I see with the warhead is that the blade is so broad that it'd be much more difficult to slip between ribs and hit vital organs.

  • @7h3647h32in6 And you'd want to do that because... why? Seeing as these are self-defense weapons, hitting vital organs seems a bit overkill.

  • @mynith If you watched the video, you would have heard him mention soldiers. Solders would not be using this exclusively for self defense.

If you want a self defense weapon, buy some pepper spray.

  • @7h3647h32in6 The problem isn't getting the point in, it is in withdrawing it afterwards. The ribs tend to pinch, and grab things stuck between them.

  • The desert dagger looks a lot like the Gerber Applegate if they had a fixed blade model.

  • dude they paying you to sell that blade?

  • @Bewarethe1

He reviews stuff. He doesn't get paid by Cold Steel or any other manufacturer to push blades. Nutn just gives his informed opinion. If he doesn't like something he will say so and why.

  • @Bewarethe1 No, he doesnt get payed for any of the things he reviews. Why? is it overly positive or bias? I own the Warhead aswell and I agree to everything he said about it.

  • @24Rorschach I Meant no offense, all i meant is that i believe he would make an excellent sales person, I worked in computer sales for 2 years. If i was a company, selling an item, and he was the one reviewing it i would give him the knife free/and or pay him. Just my two cents is all...

  • I love how thin the warheads handle is compared to other designs. Seems like it would be a great ccw for sheepdogs.

  • We're not gonna talk about these 3 we allready have... Instead we're gonna talk about the price (OF THE 3 BLADES I'M ALLREADY TALKING ABOUT!!!) Please say its not just me who noticed that

  • I love how he keeps using the spyderco as a pointer.

  • Actually square shape gives better hand control. I'm a blacksmith/bladesmith and I can tell you that the best blacksmithing hammers have squarish handles for better control. The square handle on a knife similarly allows for better torsional/twisting control than a round or oval handle. This is necessary as in a thrust you do not want the blade to rotate in your hand. Hence why you see squarish handles on trade dags.

  • Hey man love your videos that is all I watch on YouTube now a days. Thanks for all the information. Keep up with the good work!

  • I think if you put that on a gun, it would be cool. Like to handed pistol + knife. Take a look, I made a gun blade. (pistol grip bayonette)

  • wow i didnt realise how cheap it was

  • the british commando knife would be a great addition, its light and stabs fast

  • my dickhead is bigger than that

  • The T.S.D needs one of these knives

  • What's with the gloves???

  • 20 minitus of knifes?

  • @maartendekleijn139

a good knife could make the diff between life and death. I was in a fight with a hunting knife and it broke after a struck the guy a few times with it. it got the job done but the knife was in pieces afterward.

  • @JonGarrett2008 Wait wait ... "between life and death" "Struck the guy a few times" "It got the job done" bottomline did you kill the guy ? Because it definetly sounds like it.

  • @KiroSmoka

Unfortunately I did. It was a home invasion scenario. In NY, there is no self defense law (even though the guy broke into my home) so I was charged with a crime and was locked up for 3yrs awaiting trail. I was aquitted after just 30 minutes of deliberation.

  • @JonGarrett2008 You were charged with a crime for killing a dangerous criminal in your home? I hope you sued the state for wrongfully taking 3 years of your life.

  • @Spectre426

unfortunately if there was no "prosecutor misconduct" Im entitled to NOTHING, not one dime.

during the 3yrs that I was locked up I lost my home, my wife left me, my school loan defaulted, my credit was ruined, I lost $180,000 in income, my (then 3yr old) son was traumatized and I still have nightmares about being in jail. not to mention the hard time Ive been having looking for employment.

  • @JonGarrett2008 I'm sorry to hear that man. It's heartbreaking that such atrocities are allowed to happen to people.

  • @Spectre426

    thank you.

I have faith in God and I know he allows things to happen for a reason. the most important thing a person can learn in an experience like that is to not be bitter, don't let what happened break you.

  • well done. altogether

  • @JonGarrett2008 so god tells you to touch a child would you?

  • @intupspaturken I would :3

  • Nice wide blade, with blade catcher, para-chord.... excellent survival potential as a spear or a CQB weapon, and with some practice, a thrower.

Those notches, can help you secure the blade to a branch as a thrusting spear. You could even tie a crossbar there to keep the target, say a boar or bear, from riding up the shaft and getting at you.

Only problem with a blade that broad is catching on ribs, so you will want to go in on the horizontal for better penetration.

  • If you're fighting with a dagger then making it larger (heavier) just puts you at a disadvantage. No two ways about it, either use a dagger or a short-sword, not something in-between.

In martial arts fast is strong, big isn't.

  • @ihaterobbie123 big gives better reach, so you would have a few chances to stroke someone before they could respond. Swords vs. spears was normally a loser, unless you were the romans and preceeded your sword vs. spear attack with a shower of pili (and carried a big freakin shield!)

  • @DonMeaker I'd rather use a fighting knife half the length and a quarter the weight of that thing.

In combat distance is measured in paces, not inches, all the extra weight you add to the blade just slows down your stab speed.

An extra 2 inches gives you nothing, it won't end up saving you and if anything the weight will cause you to lose.

Want a fighting blade with good penetration/slashing and you also want it light and long? Go with a CKRT Hisshou, it's a great fighting knife.

  • @ihaterobbie123 Or, you could just buy a... oh, I don't know... a Glock and not worry about it.

  • @Zubirrex Or you could stop living in a bubble, visit or learn about other countries, and discover that not everyone can own a glock.

  • @ihaterobbie123 In foil, epee and saber the length of swords are carefully controlled to prevent someone from having advantage. An extra two inches would be a huge advantage, and would be a mere ounce or two.

  • @DonMeaker I fenced for 3 years.

Yes they regulate the length, that's because when adding a little onto the end in a SPORT it makes a difference. Sorry, did you actually think fencing had anything to do with real combat?

Also it's relatively easy to add onto a foil, epee or sabre because structural integrity is maintained. On a real knife you need body with the length, doubling the length can triple or quadruple the weight, in this case CS 'solved' the problem by almost removing the handle.

  • @ihaterobbie123 Just as it would make a difference in a sport, it would make a difference in combat. "For on the fields of friendly strife, are sown the seeds that in other days will lead to victory."

  • @DonMeaker Not really, in knife fighting specifically about 95% is grapples because you want to avoid being stabbed when you stab the other person (who won't just drop stone-cold dead immediately).

Sport (fencing) is completely different from combat. There's no true aggression, no killing intention, no resolve, nothing that's in a real fight.

A poor workman blames his tools.

  • @ihaterobbie123 The two knife fights I have been in there were no grapples. Just saying.

  • @DonMeaker HAHA, oh lol, you're actually trying to claim you've been in two knife fights? Of course you didn't think to bring this up earlier because you're lying but I appreciate the effort.

Well, to compliment that rubbish I must say that I have been attacked with a knife before, but I had a bokken and was trained so it wasn't really a fair match, there wasn't any grappling there.

From my experience of sparring with dummy knives, it's all about grappling, size of knife makes no difference.

  • @ihaterobbie123 Glad you had good results. I have a "defensive scar" on one hand. better it might have been.

  • holy shit that thing is massive

  • Essentially a spearhead that doubles as a dagger. It really is light, you wouldn't expect that from such a large knife thanks to its hollow grind. For ~$20, this is the best spearhead or intimidation dagger that you can buy.

  • that is really high value at the price. second type of cool for me

  • Wider, more broad blade profiles detract from the usefulness of a knife used for combat. Chances are if you're using a knife instead of a gun or, indeed, any firearm, you're going to be sneaking up on someone. A larger blade is, really, less practical and necessary for close quarters combat. It only takes about 3 inches of penetration to hit any significant structures in the body to cause mortal wounds or death.

Cold Steel Warhead: Too large, primarily for novelty purposes.

  • Awesome review man! You covered all the points, showed the pros and cons, and it looks like this is one heck of a product for the money.

  • Have you ever thought about reviewing a tomahawk?

  • Bigger blade means more friction to slow it, but more surface area to cut with. It also means not as fast on the draw and not as easily concealed, but makes for a much more deadly strike in that you do not have to be as precise. Everything has their flaws. In hunting, I'd use the spear. In fighting, the combat dagger.

  • Hey Nutnfancy whats the best knife for Bushcraft under $50?

  • looks like a really good throwing knife!

  • for a cheap knife its kinda cool...as for stand off a pole would definaly help that, thats why i want the sog fusion spirit ^_^

  • Prefer to buy a CS bushman for it's same price and better steel sk5 ....

  • @zarnitintunzanyzack In knife form i would prefer the SK5, but for a spear thats probably gonna get beat around alot, i would prefer some more toughness and the 1055

  • i heard about this spring flying knife from spec ops of russia or germany i hope you have one to show off in your channel

  • @Navlek79

Ballistic knives are illegal to own everywhere in the US.

  • This looks very much like a Roman Gladius. The Romans knew that a broad blade would impede vital organs, cut large vessels and create a large wound that would gush blood. And that is what killing the enemy is all about.

  • @173airbornemedic Effect from loss of blood is indirect effect. Direct effect would cut nerves and tendons directly, or penetrate the thorax to give sucking chest wounds. Longer knives give greater reach, but pretty quickly lose their handiness for anything other than poking holes.

  • @DonMeaker I respectively disagree with your assessment that large bladed knives loose their effectiveness. Watch many of Nutnfancy's Knife Clinic videos where he uses large bladed knives for many camp chores and survival. As for your thoughts on the interruption of large blood vessels and the cutting of tendons and other connective tissue you are absolutely correct and I should have mentioned that as well but missed it in my original comment. THANK YOU.

  • @173airbornemedic I don't disagree with you on that. I noted that large knives lose their handiness, which is slightly different from losing effectvieness.

I once had a strong vested personal interest in medics. Thanks for all the voodoo that you do!

  • i really want to get one of these they are really nice imo

  • Love the passion and detail used in your knife reviews. Your doing an ass kicking job!!! The knife producing CO's should give you the knives for free just to review them.

  • As a soldier, the Warhead wouldn't be my top pick for a dagger because of its width. While it'll slice into any soft material pretty easily, people aren't made of just soft material. A blade that wide will easily wedge itself between ribs and get stuck, and you'll need to crack them to get the knife out... something you don't have time to do in combat. Just my $0.02.

  • @mcantar18c

Should operate more like a gladius. Should be able to break them on the way through. Anyway, as a military man, you should know blades like that are used for upward type strikes.

Though not surprised that you probably don't know that...

  • @karkkosvolfe

Dunno what kind of experience you have, but in a close/hand-to-hand combat situation you don't focus on doing "upward type" strikes, or any other specific strikes for that matter. You fall back on what's become instinct and use what you've learned in training and from your experiences, doing what's become 2nd nature to you... you don't sit and think "hmm I wanna hit him like this."

And I don't want to carry a blade with me that's really only effective in one type of strike.

  • @mcantar18c

Should operate more like a gladius. Should be able to break them on the way through. Anyway, as a military man, you should know blades like that are used for upward type strikes.

Though not surprised that you probably don't know that...

Ps. Compare the blade profiles to other broad blade weapons, in particular to the gladius.

  • @mcantar18c what would you recommend for a combat blade?

  • @mcantar18c if u lay it sideways while stabbing it goes between the ribs

  • @juggernautiscool you'd still have to aim if you thrust horizontally.

the rib cage does not only have horizontal bones, learn your anatomy :D

  • Could you use the warhead as a throwing knife since the blade is 9 ounces ?

  • @JaRuOWNAGE It would work well in that fashion, but i prefer the cold steel shanghai shadow, idk why.

  • Could you use the warhead as a throwing knife?

  • no handguard so it you stab something hard, your hand is gonna hit the blade.

  • i thought the warhead was a throwing knife

  • nice Spyderco

  • Whats wrong with a leather sheath?

  • @zedekyah

Well...Generally leather sheaths will absorb water more than other types of sheaths like nylon ones and as a result the leather sheath will most likely mold over as a result of the water or simply fall apart over time.

  • 03:50 stabbing knife! :D

  • can't get them anymore, "War Head

    DISCONTINUED / SOLD OUT"

  • over kill?

  • If theres a zombieappocalypse im going to this guys house...

  • @hunterziegelmann i think you mean when not if

  • @hunterziegelmann u are funny

  • @hunterziegelmann HELLLL YEAA!!

  • I'd really like to see the single blade version (True Flight Thrower) and the Perfect Balance Thrower knives put to the test as a survival knife.

  • ...7/20 2010...

    ...currently unavailable...

  • this knife is intended for more of a throwing knife but it could also be used for combat

  • 17:13 it's kinda funny that after nutnfancy pulls out all these knifes to show in this review he has yet another knife to bring out just to point at the knifes on the table

  • @iknowmy3table

    Yeah, lol

funny you should point it out, nutnfancy is teetering on a razorsharp edge between lunacy and awesomeness

Which is cool, so are most good people, me included =P

  • you know i bet if the situation called for it.. you could take the handle wrap off the warhead and make a spear and then use the handle wrap to secure it idk how thick is the tang on that thing nutn?

  • you should throw them at things!!!

  • Cold steal again? Are you sponsord? Please, DONT trust yours or any ones life on their products. Cold steal is a crap company with stupid marketing and cray products. Especially their cheap crap ''Carbon 5'' knives witch are completly useless and uter crap! There are noumerous good american made knives to chose from, Cold Steal and their knives are not one of them, NONE of their products are worth the money no matter what they cost.

  • @StantheGunman Nutnfancy isn't sponsored, he just reviews gear that interests him, that he has access to, and sometimes in response to interest from the TNP community. He especially enjoys reviewing items which he considers as having "High Value", or a high cost to quality/functionality ratio. Cold Steel, for the most part, fits that definition. I, for example, can't remark on all their products, and some might be "crap", but I consider their Tai Pan to be one of the best daggers on the market.

  • @AZRogue

Well Cold Steal isnt high value! Its substandard crap! I Enjoy Nutnfancy reviews as much as the next guy. But there is no point in reviewing crap even if its cheap crap! What is wrong with you all? A 1000dollars rifles, good gear and fine guns...And Cold Steal? That is like cooking a fine meal and taking a dump on top of it all! FFS, its not even american made! Its imported cheap ass crap made out of substandard material and shamelessly marketed by people who are idiots!

  • @StantheGunman I figure modern Chinese steel is about the same quality as US WWII steel.

  • @DonMeaker

I have nothing against GOOD chinese steel, I have several chinese made fire arms and they are excellent! But there is none of that in Cold steal ''Crap carbon 5''. The Chinese can make excellet steel. Had Clod Steal used good steel then I wouldnt complain, but they dont!

  • @StantheGunman My V-42 probably has the same quality steel that the US was pumping out in 1942 for low priority items like knives...

  • @AZRogue As for their so called high quality knives, sure their Tai-Pan line of knives and daggers arent thath bad, but they are insanly over prized! And NOT american made at all! For THAT kind of monet there are tons of good, even great american knife makers. Then why review Cold Steal at all? I can make list of evn great American custom knife makers taht make better products even cheaper than Cold Steals so called imported and over prized knives, and I am not even American!

  • @AZRogue Maybe... but he is a youtube partner and makes money on all of the ads you see on the page and in the video that annoy the shit out of you. So he isn't exactly doing this just because he feels like playing with knives he is making money doing it.

  • @PUREOWN Wrong. You have no idea how much it takes to run this channel...just ammo alone is astronomical. This is a project for love, not money. -- Veri

  • @nutnfancy true you guys do waste astronomical amounts of ammo.

  • @PUREOWN Yeah well, its a ton of fun. You should try it yourself.

  • @PUREOWN The only wasted ammo is the ammo you never shoot.

  • @StantheGunman just because every item you got or because of you it was wobbly and therefore shit is not cold steels fault shit happens man

  • @Kelvarra

Why buy impoted cheap ass pore quality when there are american made knives available at deascent prices that WONT fail at all?

  • I am curious to know what the guy who made a subtitle was thinking. Interesting point of view,but...not that funny :P

  • Dude, the Ka-Bar is one of the best C.Q.B Knife. You want a knife, go Ka-Bar or Gerber. I don't care for Cold Steel, except their trowing knives. I like Ka-Bar and Gerber, but you probably know more than i do.

  • Comment removed

  • i would like to say your vids rock my socks, and your smart on your stuff, most people dont know that stab wounds damage better then slash

  • @IndianaWren I think you're right to a point. I think what is needed to give a nasty stab is easier to put on a knife then a proper slash. A long, thick spined knife with a sharp curved edge will do a lot of damage. Ask the Nepalese, they use Kuhkris and they have killed a loooooooot of enemy soldiers with them.

  • My 264 daggers are way better then yours

  • lol a wild pig or something? wouldn't you have something other then a dagger if you were hunting wild pigs? or were you thinking self defence?

  • Sexy knives!

  • who actually watched this entire video

  • @IIIArrow711 i did
