@StadiumHot Not really absorbing but rather waiting for the opponent to strike so that you can use their energy against them. All blocks are done at slight angles so that it deflects just enough with little damage to you compared to a direct block. Once they're exposed or their defenses are weakened then you go in for an attack. What you really want to do is block and attack that way they are deflected and you punch them with your and their forward force combined.

I read about how a lot of people say these martial arts movies are fake. Of course they are, they're movies. But, whether or not these guys can actually fight is something else entirely. If someone believes the actor can't fight for real as he or she does in the movie, then go up to them, slap em' in the face and start a real fight with em'. You'll find out if their as fast or strong as they are in "the movies".
