not a bad version of Windows but with many useless things :) UAC, action center (i don't see any action from it ,only resource consumption xD), windows defender,etc.
but better compare to Vista

@UFOghostgeek My sister's laptop was still on tiger, if you were on leopard it was a $30 upgrade but for anything older than leopard was either a $150 upgrade or you can't upgrade at all. I paid $50 for my computer to upgrade to Windows 7.

the windows 7 upgrade which is $50 is the one which upgrades from vista to 7, (formally running on the second most recent OS) the mac was not running on the second most current OS so it was more expensive to upgrade, an upgrade from XP to 7 would be a similar price to what the mac notebook was.

@UFOghostgeek You are incorrect, an upgrade copy for Windows 7 works for Windows XP and Windows Vista. The only difference is that for Windows XP, you need to backup all of your data before you upgrade because it essentially formats and installs 7. The price is currently $100 for a windows 7 upgrade copy and I got the Windows 7 upgrade copy for $50 while it was on-sale before launch. It is ironic that you mention the fact that upgrading from XP to 7 is more expensive when it is in fact less.
