  • Blades passing close to own wrists (bad idea in fight situation).

Straight arms at full extension (always a bad idea).

Long pauses as if section is forgotten (doesn't inspire confidence in students).

Funny faces? Forms are for acquiring reflexes, not exercising your face...

Ip Chun has none of these dubious facets: v=xhFU0_iBRBE

  • Wong Kee Man's knife form is definitely better than what Jim Fung's senior instructors are showing on their YouTube. I have alot of respect for Chu Shong Tin (Jim Fung's teacher) but the Jim Fung instructors are obese and their knife form should take this Wong Kee Man lession.

  • Also, view 'sil lum tao' under 'mark lee pringle' ,..same type of set-differences and snapping-power release.

  • Ji go baat jaam do hai tai ho tai ho! Even though this 8-cut form is in different order/direction placement than most,(ALL forms are a little different from school to school)... it is one of the FEW Wing-Chun demos that shows Excellent Power release and body-connection! Do jie saai', Si-fu Mark

  • hahahahahaaaaaa!

old man, go back to sleep!

  • good snap power

  • Angles and footwork perfect, great to learn from.

  • What is the purpose of slapping the weapon on the inner arm at the beginning?

  • he's actually supposed to be trapping a spear/pole that is aimed at his face. The blades should actually make a v-shape cutting into the pole stopping it in its tracks. He overshoots the positions (probably purposefully) to show the two way energy driving into the pole

  • This Video is of Wong Kei Man. He was an instructor at the VTAA in 1968.He is not showing the form in it's entirety. Personally I believe Ip Man taught several version of the form with and without "Flipping" however it should be noted that Yong Chun White crane which many consider to be a major influence on Wing Chun Does "Flip".

  • what family is this BJD(who is his sifu)

  • Wong Kee Man is one of the few students that have learned the whole set of BJD from Ip Man.

  • common someone show the full set!!!!!!!!!!! or if any has something show me plzz

  • Omg. This is footage is mint. Wong Sifu is one of the few remaining masters who know the full set.

  • Very impressive and neat technique! And his energy management is awesome too.

  • Baat Jaam Dao is a simple idea, like the Wing Chun first form it allows for individual translation and growth. This is only how Sifu Wong demonstrates! NEVER underestimate this style as many people would say that the knive have really NEVER been seen! In honesty, it shoud remain that way. Training behind 'closed doors' has its reason...

  • The great secrets in martial arts today all have to do with machines. Why keep this old style wing chun secret?

  • Ahh look its the bank manager with his Choppers Chop chop Lol

  • I am planing to buy some DVD's on the Hung Gar Wu Dip Dao forms and if I can some other styles as well most Southern styles use them Hung Gar has one that pairs it with a round shield.

  • The look on this guy's face is hilarious. lol

  • He is training the killing mood. Not hilarious if someone is chopping into you.

  • @Razel42 Hey boy, keep your mouth shut, or else WonkyMan will chop your bawls off LOL.

  • This is the first time I have seen any one use Wu Dip Dao like that with the whip like strike and I have seen few Wing Chun systems use the fliping technique so the blade is against the arm. Other style do it like Hung Gar but not many of Wing Chun schools. Witch school is this from?

  • FYI, Sifu Wong allegedly only did the first three and the last section of BJD in the demo. Even that, his moves differed a lot from the form Ip Man taught to just a few people. There is actually flipping technique in the last (eighth) section. What Sifu Wong Kee Man did with flipping deviated from Ip Man's form as well. There is a lot more elaborate footwork in the real form than most people seen. If you want to learn the real BJD, go find that limited number of people but it will be tough!

  • you're right. I have never seen wing chun schools use the fliping technique so the blade is against the arm. it's mainly in hunggar.

  • Not entirely true even in the Ip Man BJD some people flip some don`t.If you personally can`t use the

    Cup Dao(flipped sword)then don`t flip it

  • Correct, Some schools flip others do not.WCjl13 hit the nail on the head. It should also be noted that aside from Hung Ga that Yong Chun White crane also does which many consider to be a major influence on Wing CHun Does flip and have sections using the blades reverse along the forarms.

  • when you see their proper usage, their name makes more sense- kept close together like wings, and the flapping motion. Interesting.
