Imagine jogging & minding your own buisness, & two guy pull out knives to rob you. You step back with two small sticks & whoop their assess! They run & you are safe, that would be a rewarding feeling with just 'skills & two sticks'.
people always raise this point, you know when someone is holding a sharp object vs a blunt object, and you adapt. Its simple. These drills are to help train you in a live way movement defense and offensive concepts that you will adapt in real time.
well said, I always thought the sticks were used as a safer way of practincing. I was told that in real fma machetes were used, so why would you grab the machete blade as a way of disarming your enemy it doesnt seem practical to me. but eh.. cool video.,
arnisadors obviously don't grab the sharp edge of a machete. it's either you use the same techniques, taking care not to grab the sharp edge (e.g. "the bite"), or you use a different technique altogether.
Wow, unless i'm blind it's a stick that he is using in this demo, not a machete! In Filipino Martial Arts various weapons (empty hands, sticks, blades of different types, etc) can be used in fighting/combat! You adapt the offensive/defensive strategies for the type of weapon(s) being used! If this was a bladed weapon the defensive strategy would be different and it would be prudent to try to grab/control the hand, not the blade obviously!
it depends how to use Arnis, Kali or Eskrima amd the samurai
