Not bad, huh? There were more people drunk at the Elvisfest than the Beerfest. But then, the Elvisfest is one big party, so you have to expect it, I guess :-)

I am from England , The beerfest looks very civilised.. if this was in England after a couple of hours of the doors being open there would be people falling over each other and maybe the odd fight, not too sure why but here people only stop drinking when they fall asleep or they run out of beer..... !

Thank goodness for VIP tickets - I don't know what I would do without mine if I had one. That was some beer fest - lucky there were plenty of people around to drink it so it didn't go to waste!

They have something similar here, except it's not beer, it's wine, and they have all the chefs there with their booths, and it costs $100-150 or something like that. All food and wine inclusive.

I actually live in Ann Arbor, the neighboring city to Ypsilanti and we have a wine tasting whatever but I never go to it. I'm more interested in our cousin to the East which is less pretentious and far more fun.

I agree, this looked like wayyyy more fun. You can drink $30 worth of beer, but you could really not eat and drink more than $100-150 of wine and stuff. I've never gone, but have wanted to. Maybe I need a VIP pass!

Now THAT is smart. Gotta love the thought process behind this. Charge people $30.00 to sample/market your product to them. I do love festivals...all of them. Its that Festival Food that gets my attention every time! Plus the people watching is a kick.

Looks like a summer full of festivals for Marc! Wow, for 30 bucks you'd have to be a serious beer drinker to get your moneys worth. But it certainly looked like a lot of people were getting their moneys worth!!! (Especially the Bush bashers) The ribs looked good. I would have had to give those baby's a try.

I've never paid to get in so I'm not sure how many tokens they give you for beer. Whatever it is, I'm sure you don't get more than 10-20 samples and they're rather small.

$30 and it includes several (maybe 10-15) cups of beer. Since they let me in for free, I don't get tokens at the gate so rarely drink while I'm there.

LOL, actually, you buy tokens and each token is good for one beer sample. There are so many beers to choose from that they kind of have to be small if you plan on walking away. However, I agree that it seems pointless if you find one you really like.

Yeah I used to go every year in the early 90's. 20 acres of land used exclusively for Renfest. Plenty of parking. All the entertainment and music was just the way it was in days of yore. Then the crowds began getting so big the entertainers went to wireless microphones and PA speakers hidden in Bales of hay. Now there's an ATM right in the middle of the park. It's lost a bit of it's charm, but it's still one of the biggest and coolest in the nation.
