  • way to go parent douchebag. you used suffocation pokeball. its super effective! wild child fainted.

  • To those who thought the ball would fit in a childs' mouth:

Look at the video. At 0:06, the announcer says "Suffocation hazard", not "Choking hazard".

  • The only care about not getting sued

  • Well that's retarded! It's from a BIG KIDS meal. It's not for freaking 3 year olds! The parents who got the big kids meal for their 3 year olds must be pretty stupid

  • smart move mom!! you just caught a wild dead child (sorry kid )

  • This was either Burger King's last advert of the 90s, or the first of the 00s.

What a - erm - way to go

  • I remember that too. I told the commercial to F itself.

  • this is the reason we dont have cool toys anymore damm stupid parents!! and its not the childs fault they dont know better and its not burger kings fault or pokemons fault either ITS THE GODAMM PARENTS!!!!

  • Who the FUCK orders a fuckin Big Kids Meal to a freakin 1 or 2 year old?? Arrogant parents, that's who....

  • and that slipped their mind when they were making it!Obviously it a HALLOW round ball I mean they could of put air holes in it or something like that

  • It was a sign to us all, that we converted to real anime

  • I have mine still!! since then =D

  • I wud br scared if i was 5 and i had one

  • this would scare me so much as a child.

  • Don't give your kids these things until their biting habits stop! Common sense!

  • @Killerthewolfdog yes but biting habits has increased.

  • 0-0 i heard a baby 3 or 2 got killed from. A pokeball

  • @enzsal1 you caught a passed away kid! would u like to nickname it?

  • The first time I saw this, I thought that Pokemon in America was officially over.

  • @ChuckTheSandwichGuy that would be a sad non awesome world

  • what the...

  • i don't remember a commercial all i remember this commercial

  • I remember when I heard on the their was a baby that died that way. My Dad saw it on the News.

  • .. Why.. How.. Who.. Exc.. Confused.

  • Anyone else agree that it was bad parenting to give a 13 month old child a poke ball?

  • What fucking stupid kid will kill them self's with that?

  • What if u don't have a child under 3? I'm not even in a relationship yet!

  • Never saw this commercial. :/

  • This was so stupid.

  • I remember this; we didn't have trouble with the Pokéballs, but I'm sure we tossed them out just to be safe. I still have most of my old Pokémon Burger King toys.

I also recall the balls came in different sizes due to the types of Pokémon toys they offered (Including keychains, small plushies, PVC figures that light up, etc.)

It would've been ironic if this aired during a commercial break for the REAL Pokémon series (it would make sense to me.)

  • How about this novel idea: PARENTS EVERYWHERE: Teach your kid to stop shoving the whole world down their throats.

  • @reaperman2010 Young kids have that instinct, it's part of their exploration phase. The responsible thing to do is to to read labels carefully and make sure young children are given toys appropriate for their age group.

  • Wasn't this shown a few days after 12/11/99, the day a Sonora 13 monther died due to suffocation?

  • Mine disappeared around the time these commercials aired.

Even at age five, I knew one of my parents threw it out.

  • And this is the reason why you dont get your 3year old a big kid toy..... McDonalds says on the toy (request for a little kid toy if your child is under the age of 3)............. i still have some of these pokeballs

  • thumbs up if you still kept the poke ball despite what this commercial said

  • @mibevan There was no reason to dispose of it if you were an older kid or had older kids.

  • Comment removed

  • I have 20 of these pokeballs.... had em since I was 2 years old.... didn't die :D

  • @KasasTheWarlock yyyaaayyy!!!! wasent born yet. im 11. but quite mature. i think my friend had blastoise... and my cousin got pikachu

  • What idiot parent gives such a thing to a child so young they'll put anything in their mouths anyways!?

  • i want one

  • Who in their right mind would return something they rightfully bought WITHOUT the availability of a refund?

  • @RafealxPhoenix You could actually return them for a free small fry.

  • How can that ball fit in a child's mouth???

  • @RafealxPhoenix I believe it had to do with the half of the ball covering up the nose and mouth of the infant.

  • Okay, guys. Pop quiz. Which of the following terms describes the parents suggesting the recall in the first place? Is it:

    A. Ignorant jackoffs.

    B. Attention whores.

    C. Dumb fucks who don't know how to pick up a childcare book or put a condom on to prevent this from happening.

    D. All of the above.

  • @SuicuneRider I'd like to suggest E: Calm the fuck down as this happened about ten years ago.

  • I remember reading about this on the Pokémon web site! I didn't get to see it on TV because I don't live in America.

  • Oh and the parent if mad on BK couse he left him suffocated.Nice going parents :|

  • oh,and the people want to take this away from kids! Why did they need to get reacalled!Cant there parents like hide it away from there kids then give them back when there older!

  • What?Kids who have like 9 or 10 can have these,AND THEY REACALLED IT?!?!

  • @YanksBostonMets That is so true. Seriously, look at the cheap toys that they have at fast food places now. All they are is hollow plastic based on the most retarded shows ever. And they don't even do anything except maybe roll around or something like that.

  • @icy98822 dude. im 11 and they dident sell pokemon since 2006. now they sell twilight and paper jamz. ugh... damn i wish i was born in the 90s

  • How a child managed to swallow one of those is kind of hard to believe. They're pretty big.

Those little action figure keychain balls were always more of a threat!.

  • The parts of the balls were really big. I never saw how a 3 year old managed to suffocate from one. Even so, parents should be more responsible.

  • That kid has got to have one black hole of a throat.

  • fuck you, its a pokeball. no kids gonna give it up.

  • if you didn't take the pokeballs back or throw them away it's not a big deal now these days? just keep them away from small children

  • my parents were smart and my dad drilled a tiny hole in the center of both parts of the ball

thank God i have smart parents

  • @Kalkas53 yeah. :) parents what they do for us today :)... except for parents that give their child pokeballs unless their old enough

  • Wow, I was only about 7-8 months old when this commercial aired. I think I saw it one time on an old 80's 14" TV in my living room at the time. But now, they don't just make announcements on recalled toys anymore, they just put them on the news.

  • @BulletZapper46 Ironically, this commercial looks like it could have been made in the 1980s!

  • @wileyk209zback It sort of looks that way.

  • this is dumb kids can suck on anything and create a vacuum effect i use to suck on plastic cups when i was a kid and every once in a while i got it stuck on my face till i had to shove it off =P so what should we of gotten ride of plastic cups too?

  • well than dont give i to children under 3

  • This commercial creeped me out as a kid.

  • @HammerOfNul Same here

  • @HammerOfNul It creeps me out right now. I'm 20.

  • @HammerOfNul i wasl ike 5 mnoths when this cameo ut but i bet it freakedo ut my sister who was about 8 at the time

  • @HammerOfNul yeah, it is creepy

  • @Jonathan8500 the voice is creepy. sounds like the EAS system

  • @HammerOfNul Why? I understand the gruff female voice might get to some, but what else?

  • @Satoshi9801 Well there's that, and there's also the general silence, and the fact that the only reason they aired this is because children died.

  • @HammerOfNul the voice? she sounds frail and the description reaaly is scary

  • i want one soo badly

  • Wow, Pokemon was evil back then, with the seizure and the Pokeball.

  • I really wanna beat the shit out of the fucking parents that sued... REALIZE THE TRUTH DUMBASSES!!! YOU KILLED YOUR CHILD!! NOT BURGER, NOT POKEMON, YOU!! YOUR THE ASS HOLES THAT GAVE YOUR FUCKING 2 YEAR OLD A BIG KIDS MEAL!!!! WHO THE FUCK GIVES A 2 YEAR OLD A BIG KIDS MEAL??? BURGER KING SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN SUED. THOSE PARENTS SHOULD'VE BEEN PUT IN JAIL FOR BEING THE REASON THERE CHILD WAS KILLED!!!!

  • The balls were fine! The parents were not! To bad they can't recall the parents!

  • I kept all my Pokeballs because I could care less about fries. LOL

  • I just got one at a antique store. I wonder what the people who work there would think if I returned mine now, years after the Poke'ball for fries trade. lol

  • @SerenitytheDragonair do it. video it. upload it. send the video to me.

  • @bimbo202 I don't have a camera, sorry. However, If I request someone to make it, and its made, I'll send the video to you.

  • Dude I remember this! I got like 150 free packs of fries because each poke ball you returned got you free fries.

  • These poke-balls make mighty fine targets for a .22 LR.

  • How many children died from the Pokéball and what were their names?

  • It's funny how irresponsible people ruin it for everyone.

  • i kept my back in the day i wasnt stupid enough to put it over my mouth and nouse

  • I had to throw out my Pokeballs from Burger King after hearing about the recall through a news article on a Pokemon fansite, and even this PSA. Even though I was in my teenage years, I thought it would be safe to get rid of them. Better safe than sorry.

  • @DeadRaymanWalking if ur 2 and ur not gonna put it in ur mouth then it comepletly safe

  • The saftey of your child is of the utmost importance to use=

We want to ruin your fun with these pokeball's. So we are taking them back, so you can get some free small fries!

  • wait, if my parents throw my pokeball away.....WHERE THE F**K AM I GOING TO PUT MY PIKACHU IN NOW!!! <:O

  • These toys were called but i kept mine.

  • I used to put half the ball over my mouth and suck in til it got stuck to my mouth so I could have the fun of trying to pull it off. So ya... I can see how these would be a problem.

  • I think the balls are fine.

Parents who are negligent are the REAL problems.

  • @shyguyreborn Exactly. I read the wikipedia article on it and all I could think was, 'why are these morons giving babies toys meant for 8 year olds?' They kids mentioned in it were 13 months, 18 months and 4 months. There's a reason McDonalds/Burger king toys say 'Not intended for children under 3' on them.

  • I remember those Pokeballs at Burger King. Why did I throw mine away?

  • safety my ass more like don't sue us

  • free french fries sounds good but you still can't have my pokeball.

  • holy crap! i have like 100 of these 0_0

  • The Burger King Pokemon PokeBall are now worth a ton a money by now!

  • Just researched this on Wikipedia!! I freggin had this when I was 4!!! I remember watching the commercial also!! I also remember my grandpa throwing it away.... Now it's probably worth alot if money :(

  • everyone knows its not a toy unless it kills about 5 kids

  • @neoshade123 It killed 2 infants, according to Wikipedia. O_O

  • @SerenitytheDragonair It's Super Effective!

  • @cheesewheel yep! :P

  • I thought you weren't supposed to start having your first Pokeball untill you were 10

  • Psht "Safety of your child" ta loca. "Safety of your child' all you want is for them to stay alive so that they can have more customers

  • Oh supidity.........

  • I child died of this and that's why the recall was put out.

  • pokemon sure did harm children a lot. Will the seizures and the pokeballs. Man!

  • I remember being a kid playing with them when I first saw this. I got scared by how serious it was and watching it again just filled me with dread. Fucking PSAs.

  • @Praefetus7 UGH yes, tell me about it. Pure nightmare fuel

  • Any small toy can be dangerous 4 a small child! No need 4 a recall tho! Just be careful!

  • I REMEMBER THIS! My mom told me we need to throw it away and i said "NO! I WILL BE A POKEMON MASTER!" Then i hid my pokeball toy and i still have it to this day :D

  • I heard you could return the pokeball for free french fries. As if I would ever trade my Pokeball for French fries; poke-fan. (little kids should not be around small toys)

  • I remember this. They later released the toys again, but without the balls. The symbolism is overwhelming.

  • pff hahahah

  • maybe they shoudnt give those toys to kids under i 3 i was just about to get em all

  • How can a little kid suffocate from that?

  • @TheLegend1245 this is the story: a kid was in a crib, the red peice was in a crib. the kid rolled over on it while sleeping.did u really wanna ask?

  • @TheLegend1245 A little kid can suck the air out of that thing like a vacuum.

  • The parts of the balls were really big. I never saw how a 3 year old managed to suffocate from one. Even so, parents should be more responsible.

  • @KeybladeMaster87 Apparently, a Pokeball killed a 13-month old person. She had a half of a Pokeball over her nose and mouth. A person under 3 might suck the air making a vacuum effect that gets half of the Pokeball stuck on their nose and mouth.

  • throw away.. but..I just caught my fave pokemon...

  • @MrButtnugget851 you can find these on Ebay but you can find Pokemon DP Battle Dimension toys that are openable pokeballs and a small pokemon figure that fits inside the pokeball

  • HOW DOES THAT HAPPEN????!!!

  • Good thing they good rid of those toys! They're very dangerous to small children!

  • @HTPtheFirst if i had one and im 9 it wont be able to fit in my mouth

  • Those Pokeballs sucked.

    they were cheap looking.

  • I got one in 2009 :D

It Came With Crappy Tangela Though :(

  • Ha I remember this commercial

Idk why but it scared me because I had like 5 of those pokeball things.

  • God damn it! Because of this, we cant have awesome mega pokemon promotions like they did back during this day. Now we get crappy little ones that roll back and charge off. I have a box full of these things and they are so much better. Thanks a lot irresponsible parents!

  • @peg2000 It wasn't their fault. It was for the safety of the kids.

  • What's wrong with the Pokeballs?

  • @uhernandez55 The red half fits over the mouth and nose of a small child and there's no airholes.

  • like if you just heard about this recall now

  • lol

  • when I was a kid, I wondered, how could a child suffacte on one of those, I still have one of these burger king poke balls, that I saved..

  • "throw the ball away"

    now, i would say

"throw the ball at a pokemon"

  • Comment removed

  • i remember my dad trying to take away my pokeball

i was 13 at the time

theres no way i was stupid enough to choke myself with a toy

  • Creep

  • what a fucking dumb ass kid, he deserved to die.

  • Did you know that on December 11, 1999, a 13-month old girl in Sonora, California suffocated on the container, and was found dead in her playpen with half of the ball covering her nose and mouth. Following her death, the Tuolumne County Sheriff's Department issued a warning about the containers.

This was the first time a Burger King toy was blamed for a death.

  • If you managed to choke on a ball the size of your fist, FAILblog won't even know what to do with you.

  • I found these pokemon balls in ym garage and they're awesome!! I loved pokemon and still do to this day. This commercial should talk about the PARENTS who don't watch they're kids. First off any toy can be a suffocation hazard. IT'S THE PARENTS WHO NEED TO OPEN THEY"RE EYES AND WATCH THEY'RE CHILDREN INSTEAD OF NOT PAYING ATTETNTION AND BLAMING THE FASTFOOD COMPANY. No wonder why we have sucky toys now in fast food restaurants. All the toys now a days are more childish than ever.

  • @YanksBostonMets I heard about this recall last year and I found one at a yard sale yesterday. I LOVE IT!!! TOTALLY BOUGHT IT!!!!!! X3 I can't put it down now. X3

  • @YanksBostonMets

"All the toys now a days are more childish than ever."

    xD...

  • @YanksBostonMets YES SOMEONE FINALY GETS IT!!! AND WHAT ABOUT FREAKIN LEGO ITS A CHOKING HAZARD AND I HAVENT SEEN A RECALL ONCE! YOU SIR JUSTT MADE MY DAY THANKS!

  • @DENNISCOOLinROBLOX Yeah exactly man it's so stupid. The 90's mcondalds and burger king had a aamzing toys from tv shows and movies. But now the toys suck. All I hear is parents complaining and it makes me sick.

  • @YanksBostonMets The toys are not made to be childish they are just meant to be careless parent proof for the types of irresponsible jack offs who expect everyone else to raise their children for them and then turn around and cry foul when something goes wrong because they weren't doing their job of being a parent.

  • @YanksBostonMets i know right?? like WTF one time there was a frickin CRAYOLA CRAYONS toys. WHAT THE HELL???

  • @Jess0914 HA HA HA! Really? I thought I saw the most retarded toy. You win. A crayon as a toy? WTF

  • @YanksBostonMets I mean seriously! This wasn't long ago actually it was like 2 years ago they gave you a crayon and some paper and their like HAVE FUN. I'm like you kidding me? Why couldn't we have those wonderful, actually FUN toys back then! I had one of those black and white robots, but then my mom must've throws it away or some RAWR. Sorry, getting off topic :P

  • @AngelKitty123100 i agree with creepy...

  • Thats why you become a Pokemon Trainer at the age of 10

  • FACEPALM ** that was part of the BIG kids meal, kids under three shouldnt even have that

  • that stupid baby pushed it over his mouth and nose and it created a suction and he couldnt get it off

  • i was so pissed when this happened. I wanted at least 6 pokeballs to keep my 6 favs in them

  • how do you suficate on that how on earth acan a baby swollow it anyways?

  • What kind of human child has the ability to put that in their mouth!? and swallow it? the fuck?

  • this pissed me right off good thing my mom didn't beleave it was dangerous cuz if i had to loses my pokeballs i whuld have gone nuts cuz back then i was crazy about pokemon

  • Comment removed

  • I remember seeing this constanly on Cartoon Network and Nick right after the incident. I think it was around 98 when they made the toys to promote Pokemon: The First Movie or just the show alone. I can't really remember.

  • What parent was stupid enough to buy for this for a 2-year-old? Thes toys specifically say they're for ages THREE AND UP! DON'T THEY READ THE SAFETY WARNINGS BEFORE BUYING THESE THINGS?! Oh and they swt up some stupid website called Pokemon Kills. POKEMON DOESN'T KILL, BAD PARENTING DOES!

  • I didn't throw My PokeBalls Away, I Donated to the Children's Home.

  • "to children under three".

Hell stupid teens/adults can suffocate too!
