This is a fabulous version of Born to be Wild. The original Steppenwolf version is also fantastic. The difference is people still remember Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin so covering Smoke on the Water or Stairway to Heaven would be a little crass. The Cult are keeping Steppenwolf alive here, check out the Pusher or Magic Carpet Ride

I remember watching The Cult do born to be wild here in Canada on tv Molson Canadian Rocks presents...it was awesome at theend of the song Ian crammed his mic stand into a tv on stage it was an amazing version. If anyone has it please post!!!

a definite improvement over the studio version...but we should all know better: you shouldn't record a cover of "Born to be wild" just like you shouldn't record a cover of "Smoke on the Water", "Stairway to Heaven", etc, etc...those are CLASSICS, and they don't need to be re-recorded...
