Perhaps because Western culture equates 'beauty' with 'sex', and in some cases 'sexy' with 'availability' (think of the sort of person who sees a woman in a short skirt and goes 'she's asking for it.')
And 'I am not the only one who thinks this' is a really terrible defense, there is never a circumstance where that means 'This is right.'
