The japanese one is pretty much a full blown ghost story with lots of bumps in the night and other creepy antics - with a kick-ass final scare scene. The US remake is a totally different kind of movie IMO, dealing more with the emotional baggage the mother has of suddenly facing a single parent life, coupled with a ghost story (is it in her head or for real?). If you want scares - go the japanese way; but for a drama check out the US version.
@MrRamone420 Hey Chris,Yeah maybe a little bit,but....I really liked it.I suppose sometimes it depends on what kind of mood you are in with subtitled films.The U.S. remake of this isnt bad,but I think this one is better.
