  • why they spit out the bait?

  • 1:50 the fish have a carp rig in the face:(

  • would a rig like this work on cats?

  • Verry Nice footage but you see on te last 20 sec of THE Movie that THE pop up was more near THE ground and that Carp fish are verry smart creatures

  • wow. there's eight minutes of my life i can never get back.....

  • Плотность карпа в водоёме очень большая... не реальная... такое возможно только на частном водоёме.

The density of carp in the pond is very large ... not real ... this is only possible in a private pond.

  • @skimenruslan er... no disrespect, but large groups of carp are actually quite common in any reasonably fertile river system. Which is the case here.

  • @JeromeMoisand no disrespect ... I just assumed that it was a fish pond

  • @skimenruslan LOL... Not quite. You can find a few pictures of where I fish in some of my videos (watch them all!). It's a slow moving large river basin, and fish concentrate at this precise spot because of a sewage overflow outlet.

  • @JeromeMoisand I, too, had loved to fish the bait. The biggest carp was 10kg.

  • @JeromeMoisand This density of carp is common, also here in Germany, but its not natural. It's human - made. We had a lot of different kinds of fish in our rivers, lakes and ponds, but anglers are not interested . I'm an angler too and where ever I am fishing I catch carp, carp, carp with nearly every kind of bait, even with a dead fish(a little unusual)! The carp-Hystherie made CRAP to a synonym for FISH! I still catch different kinds of fish, ok, but how long and fish=carp becomes reality?

  • @skimenruslan How did you get a video under water? what kind of setup was the camcorder or fish finder?

  • i think u should balance the popup lower, like just hovering above the bottom (1cm) especialy when u crum the ground bait

  • great video, and that seems like a good rig to catch them:)

  • Is there a rig that can stop the fish from spitting bait back out is the the sittuation were the blowback rig is suppose to work, new yo carp fishin any advice appreciated

  • I think you'll get a much quicker catch when you put the sinker on the hair so the hook lays on the bottom;)

  • All those people spending millions on specialty carp rigs and baits. clearly at least on this accation they do not work as well as those companies want you to think.

  • if is that corn carp, gonna take him so easy.pop ups are shit dont use that.make ur own boile with nice smell and they will come..but still nice video..salute

  • may i ask y u were u using a pop there in the first place, and why such a supple hook link

  • @FourDownsOnABus Er... Because I wanted to do a pop-up video! I've done quite a few videos with bottom bait already. Simple as that! ;-)

  • @JeromeMoisand fair enough mate

  • I like the way your experimenting yourself rather than copying what everyone else is telling people to do ( stinking tackle, Korda underwater and so on. Keep it up I really enjoy your clips.

  • @discodave69691 Thanks. You are exactly right, this is indeed the point. And it is much more fun to do it this way!

  • They Are Clearly telling you they want to eat off the Bottom

  • Dude You shoulda Tagged the hook with a piece of corn, They got the scent but they knew they didnt want the bait, They spit it out a few times, Your on the right track..

  • where can i get a camera like that?

  • hook not sharp enough also the anti eject effect was none existent judging from the amount of times the fish sucked that bait in,the rig needs revising.Brilliant footage though.

  • Crap bait, Crap rig & the 'walruss' has a swim bladder problem.

  • @danlilley2000 and a crap comment too. :-)

  • Wot a shit rig! How high!!! Noddy

  • Where Are you fishing?

  • 7:09 minuets in that carp spat on that boilie

  • i waws tryin 2 catch grass carp but i dont kno wat thy eat

  • You should never use a pop-up on such a clear bottom. At least I have found they work best in weeds and grass. Smaller bait on the bottom to blend in better with your feed.

  • @BrianWarner1996 Totally agreed. Also a pop-up on a bed of particles is just a bad idea. I wasn't really trying to show what to do, more the contrary in truth. It's always more informative to learn from what does NOT work! While checking your facts...

  • @JeromeMoisand Sure sure all's well mate I agree with everything you said. I was just giving a piece to everyone who watches this and don't know any better. I loved the video and I liked what you said about that fat bumbling fella messing up the swim. (walrus with his head on backward)

  • @JeromeMoisand nonononono.The "stiuca"likes it ku carligu.

  • Tht rig is gd but u could perfect it buy making the bait tite to the hook and put a smaller hook and then u could hook all of those and also a bit of bent shrink tube down the shank. Well this is just my opinion

  • stiff rig with only a couple of inches stripped and soft with anti tangle tubing always set,s the hook home for me..i used to use supple hook links but found i used to get a lot of liners..but with stiff rigs i never get liners anymore just solid takes...tight lines buddy

  • Great footage lol at the warlus

  • when you said finaly it was the only time you could not see the hook

  • tbh if you wanted to get better takes cos u did miss a couple , make ur lead free running and slack ur line a bit this just helps your catch rate to go up as the the fish cant feel the lead resisting and its more likely to take the bait and not spit it out. pop up good and ground bait good.

    well done tho :D :D :D

  • you should try different colour or top it off with something.

  • How u film it???

  • look at your line sticking up get some lead core

  • Man, only conclusion I have is that your hook scks, mate... Change the hook, its too obvious that this one isn't sharp any more, or simply doesn't work (try different shape or size)...

And if I feed them with chunks of sweet corn, I would set just ONE single chunk on the top of that pop-up, I can bet that carp wouldn't resist... ;)

  • @soppp2 LOL... Hard to accept that our rigs are so ineffective... I can assure you that my hooks were perfectly sharp, I'm rather obsessive about it... The reality of what happens under water is far different from what we picture in our heads...

  • @JeromeMoisand Jerome, I know that fish MUST be hooked if hook is good and sharp, it cant be possible that good, sharp, NEW carp hook have 5 "suck in's" without result. We compete in carp cups, where every gram is important, you can lose money or medal if you NOT HOOK almost every fish which come near your bait, cause we change hooks 3-4 times DAILY, every few hours...

Point is that those hook which hooked and landed a carp, isn't sharp no more, and then this kind of a misses are possible...

  • @soppp2 I check my hooks before each and every cast (because I had the same experience as yourself, doesn't take much to blunt a hook). Yes, I hear you, hard to believe, isn't it... So many things happening under water that do NOT map to what we picture in our heads...

  • @soppp2 Unfortunately, you can't possibly know what is going on under the water unless you have a camera down there. Because you don't know, you can't be absolutely sure that the carp MUST be hooked if it sucks up a bait.. The videos that Jerome and others produce show that carps spit hooks with great regularity. The evidence is right there in front of you, so THIS is the truth. Fishing has way too many myths because until now, nobody has seen what is going on.

  • @JeromeMoisand lol jerome.... these ppl think you dont know what your doing.....I think... u know more of what happens below the surface then most;) but they do have me thinking.....please....try this out on video if u get a chance. hair rig a popup.... on a treble hook real close to the hook...NOTE try making the hook slightly bigger then the popup..... but really not to big....

  • LOOKS LIKE YOU NEED SOME CORN ON A NUMBER 6 HOOK.

  • Use paste to disguise the hook it's more effective and better for the fish because boilies swell there stomach up like that really fat fish.

  • boilie is too close to your hook because of which the hook travels out with the boilie when its spit out. A longer length allows the boilie to float up when ejected from the mouth allowing the trailing hook to penetrate the mouth. Also you should try and offset the buoyancy of the boilie, thereby making the boilie almost weightless in water, by using minute lead shots. this means the carp will feel zero resistance (=zero fear)when it picks up the boilie allowing a better chance of a hook up.

  • @randomshitzer est0i satisfecho gracias

  • carps are intillegent

  • 2:15 carp : omg im on youtube

    Thumps up

  • would maybe work better if it was a little shorter on a stiffer link eg 18 pound fluo carboun or something like wize, a smaller bollie mite help as well..the carp would find this very hard to eject..just a thought.,

  • can i use regular bread or maybe cinimon raison bread?

  • @DimitrovTrickShotZz sure, bread is a great bait for carp. And cinnamon flavor works fine too.

  • @JeromeMoisand Thanks

  • Berkly carp balls best baits they love the flavors and eat em right up

  • How did you point and mount the camera?!

  • @prillall I use an Aqua-Vu Explorer 7 underwater camera. Do a Web search and you'll find a description of this neat product, and this should answer your questions.

  • fail construction of that rig

  • 7:42 "Thefuck's that?"

  • do you actually catch a fish

  • @ash95ism Check the next video... Pop-up Part 2... ;-)

  • lol at the retarded carp

  • 3:23 HES SO FAT!!! HAHAHA

  • im not a big fan of popups,,,,,, but if i do use them i put the weight tight to the hook or use the snoman rig,,,,,, nice footage,, and some of them carp do look grumpy.

  • look at the date on the video, this was in the future when carp were to smart to be hooked ;)

  • @Moyniac its march 28th 2010 u dumbass different date format

  • @JGPrankcalls relax dude i wasnt hating..

  • I think if you put a split shot on the link making the pop up lower, would make a difference. I think you could of ripped the back out of it with the kd rig.

  • no i think that was a seal

  • did your rig had a blowback section on it? hard to see on this vid, else it might explain the fish who spit it out :)

  • @bobfakkel No, it didn't. If there is one thing I learned with those videos though, it's that anti-eject rigs are just plain ineffective (more precisely, they are no more effective than regular rigs, carp just blow too hard on the whole thing when spitting out for any anti-eject effect to work).

  • lol is funny at 3:27 the fattest carp stop and hit the floor xD

  • obviously the pop up baits dont work. thats a good bit of filming. i always think that if you use pop ups it is better to use bottom baits as free offerings ??

  • @herb686 Thanks. Well, I think the conclusion was reasonably well established, if we keep them too busy with bottom offerings, they totally ignore a pop-up. So pop-ups might be better used as single bait, cast in the middle of nowhere.

  • Where is that pond/lake?!!!!

  • @lukedarcy10 Far from you... A slow moving river basin, in MA (USA).

  • @JeromeMoisand i live in MA. where is this?

  • I think they know u are filming, they look right at the camera lol

  • @rugedandraw the underwater camera is actually shared like a colorful fish. They seem to like it indeed!

  • everyone seems ot be harping on about how the rig is crap cos it isn't catching anything but every lake is different and every carper know that you can't use the same rig on every lake and bag up. if you watch the korda underwater footage, even danny fairbrass who is a well know carp angler and a good one has his rigs done on a number of occasions by the crafty carp... that's what makes carp fishin so good. right i'll get off my soap box now haha

  • @thepikeon You're quite right. I would go one step further. I think we have a collective blindspot when it comes to how effective our rigs are. Sounds to me they are ALL crap, we just don't see how bad they are... LOL

  • @JeromeMoisand yep i would probably agree with you but i do think there are things you can do to improve the chance you have of catching one but i still feel that our rigs are picked up and done by the carp at least 3 or 4 times, maybe even more before we get lucky and actually hook one! But then again, rigs is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to fishing, there are a million and one other factors that come into play aswell

  • man, is full o fishes there ! good work !!!

  • pmsl .....its a walrus !!!! never know might go 50+ one day. Need to trawl for the bugger tho, pops don't work obviously !?!?!?!

  • Lol you guys are so fancy I just use a heavy jig head with a big night crawler it stays right on the bottom I have caught countless 20-30

Pounders on this good fishing and tight lines

    BIGAMEFISH

  • hi, im wondering why isnt the hook turning or pricking the lip when the carp is sucking it into his mouth?

  • @CruperProductions Well... Some people will say that my rig was poorly designed (might very well be), but... what solid proof do we have about this hook turning theory? Not much, in truth...

  • Not being funny but if you have a boilie on as well as a pop up it works perfectly i use n trap soft about 4 inches of it onto my subline and use it with a size 10 kaptor with shrink tube and a cell boilie married half and half with a pineapple pop ups and it works incredibly well if you had made your rig proerly you would have interesting footage.

  • why don't you put the hook in the bait? I always just thread corn onto a hook and it works pretty darn fine for me.

Interested to hear the why of this set up as there seems to be quite a few people using this type of set up.

    thanks.

    jim

  • @archeryman5000 What you're doing clearly works. But letting the hook bare (with a hair rig) does seem to improve the probability of catching the mouth of the carp when it starts moving after sucking your bait & rig. Check my other videos, you'll see that there is really a thin line between catching and missing... I'm very wary about singing the praises of a given rig or another, but here, I believe the case is reasonably clear, you will catch more with a hair rig. Just a matter of probability.

  • Shit rig!! Carp wernt interested 1 bit. Good footage tho.

  • You have to really learn how to make better rigs!

  • @Nipecha No question about that... but... what's a better rig? The common wisdom about rigs might not that correct... The theory behind D rigs as a case in point is complete BS... I'm not being defensive here, I know my rigs could be vastly improved, but still, just don't take for granted that some 'better' rigs work as well as common wisdom lets you think...

  • @JeromeMoisand use a silicone shrink tube half of the tube on your hook and the other half on your rig line, cause when the carps exhales your pop up the hook has a wrong angle with a silicone shrink tube i bet the carp would be hooked, thats what i use, but i use to fish with boilies, corn or tigernuts

  • @sZeRo0Xx Check my 'line aligner' video. Wasn't terribly convincing! But more experiments are in order before reaching a solid conclusion...

  • I would have used the sweetcorn as hookbait, too! Cool video anyways!

  • @Michelroedeerhunter Indeed, but the entire point of the video was to try a pop-up! ;-)

  • quick question, i noticed your leeder at 1:16 is going straight up through the water. the purpose of leeders is to pin everything to the bottom, are you doing that on purpose.???

  • @dannysmw2 Not something I would do for normal fishing conditions, although it doesn't seem to bother them as much as one might think. This is due to the practicalities of video recording, I fish along a wall, and I need to adjust the position of the rig quite often to bring it in front of the underwater camera. So it's convenient to leave the line like that. And again... they really don't seem to care.

  • @JeromeMoisand ok m8 i just wonderd thats all.. thanks 4 the reply tho

  • this rig dont work right its not good. mfg steini

  • alda der angelt am karpfenpuff mit boilie-vollgepumpten karpfen und isch zu blöd einen zu fangen (auf grund legen isch natürlicher und vielleicht ein pellet oder dunkles boilie)

  • the boilie and hook were to big

  • @BjornStoop Look for Aqua-Vu Explorer 7 on the Internet. Only available in North America, I believe.

  • @thomaspeters1994 mag dat

  • LoL Noob!! Du bruachst einen größeren und spitzeren Hacken...

  • @jeromeMoisand it is a self hooking rig to an extent, but only if the lead can rise before it drop's, pulling the hook into the bottom lip, the lead was far to heavy to register the small knocks on the line at the bite alarm end, if he had a 1oz lead he would have hooked more of those fish.... @denjsmith, your right, you dont have a clue unless the fish shot's off like linford christie! smaller lead would have solved alot of his problems, its more typical than you would think!!

  • Great video! You can clearly see how the carp were feeding. After watching that I bet you chucked that rig as far away as you could! I'm not a big fan of that rig, not enough movement of the bait like you get with a blow back hair. Looks like the hook was a little blunt too.

Definitely a thumbs up on the video from me! Not sure if there was audio as I have no speakers, but still great vid!

  • I don't understand having a fixed 3 oz lead between you and the hook. How do you know when anything less then the most aggressive strike happens?

  • @DenJSmith This is a self-hooking mechanism. The weight is heavy enough that the fish gets hooked with it moves a bit with the hook in its mouth. Carp typically bolt and run under those conditions, and... you definitely what's happening by then! You're quite right that if the fish stays there, shooking its head to try to get rid of he hook, you might not know, but this is actually not typical at all.

  • I am not a master carp fisherman, but I think You should change hooks or the lenght of that piece of line between the hook and the pop-up.

  • @Shiftyhun The hook was sharp, and the piece of line pretty short, but fishing a pop-up close to a bed of bait... That was the killer! (which was very exactly what I wanted to show with this video, although I didn't expect it would be THAT ineffective!)

  • @JeromeMoisand Thanks, You helped me a lot, I didn't even thought that baits can be ineffective or effective beacuse of that you are fishing on the bare bottom or on a bed of bait.

  • i fishing most with piece of frikandel on a hair;) best bait ever:D

  • i think the key to catching carp is really corn

  • theres a big sign next to that saying "Danger - Hooked pop-up"

  • yes it can work better

  • I could have potentially Had all of them, and to see how outrageous it is to see a fish have it in their mouthes and then spit it out, there is something majorly wrong with your rigs!

  • u see it spit on the bait...like phewy i dont want that big perfectly round ball with a hook showing

  • too big! i have good luck with corn on a hook sitting directly on the bottom...dont try to hard...lol

  • you shoud fish, with the other food... no pop ups, you would catch tons of carp ;D

  • @jajaheisstleckmicham Indeed! LOL

  • J'adore t'es vidéos elle sont bien faites !

  • @LesCarpistesdu31 Merci!

  • The carp arent getting hooked because you have baited very tightly around the hookbait, which in turn makes the fish move alot slower whilst feeding. This means that when the carp eventually takes your pop-up , it is moving at a very slow speed, and due to the way the rig is sat, and the length of it, there is nothing to set the hook. Interesting stuff tho

  • @xxMrOwNzx I think you are right on. I had to chum a good deal to attract them, so that I can get decent footage, but then, yes, they started to switch to such slow feeding/grazing mode. This re-inforces the idea that pop-ups (with a powerful dip) are an ok bet when cast in the middle of nowhere, but definitely not on top of a bed of bait.

  • Use Diffrent food items around your hook bait because there just picking the corn out and not your pop up use chops if your going to fish a boilie pop up but i would fish pop up corn if your feeding it :) should get more fish

  • Use a smaller pop up .

  • the carp you are compairing to a walrus is moving like that because it has a damaged swim bladder ( the bit that determing when the float and when the sink) but great vid fella maybe if u put more of a curve on the choddy the hook might set better?

  • @TOMMYCARPER Yes, I'm pretty sure you're right about the bladder. Crazy thing is that such a carp finds a way to survive. Hardy fish!

  • carp the best boilie for carp is tutti frutti or mais :D today i go try out a new boilie :D (my recept named: carpboiler :D greetzzzz from nl

  • You should of used rig putty or a slightly smaller weight it looks like it cant move atall because of the split shot and also try putting the weight on the hair just below the bait try and make it look like a free offering . When done right it should sink really slow making the eye of the hook heavy which inturn makes the point heavy. Look up a KD rig an give that a go. Good video mate hope to see more soon

  • i wood be well done it lol

  • I love how you can just TELL in some of their eyes that they're like "There's a hook under that one, lol, how dumb is this guy?" - makes you feel a lil bleh as a carp angler using pop-ups now and than .-.

  • such a shame i am a big fan of pop ups but to see them failing like that makes me think about how many more fish i could be catching using boilys!!!!!!! great vid and funny fish/walrus!!

  • lmao Walrus

  • i see you are using the new 'carp approved hooks'

Genius! lol great vids btw mate keep em comin :D

  • @77DonkeyKong77 No clue what you're saying about the hooks, but... thanks for the nice words!

  • i lol'd at 3:20 just look at that carp!! flopping around like a walrus on land XD

  • Pop ups are for weedy lakes, no need for it to sit up in the water there, look how out of place it looks.

  • I'll never use a pop-up boilie again. Fake corn from now on

  • carp look like the most boring fishing ever, i dont know how this can excite anyone! give me a nice silver salmon anyday ;)

  • @daraboy if you wanna see why carp fishing isn't boring to people then check out some of the Carp Fishing Runs videos and you'll see that while they are a pain in the ass to get to bite sometimes they put up a damn good fight and with the indicators that we use will scare the living shit out of someone when they are relaxing just waiting.... it's an adrinaline rush that comes second to Deep Sea Fishing

  • 5:31 ;)

  • very nice!!!!

  • i have just started carp fishing cos my mate takes me but we use very small hooks and light tackle. these hair rigs look like braid ? i thought carp where much to clever for this set up

  • Fucking stupid

  • Fukin daft rig m8 popin up too high that bed is a dream swim, 2 piece of pop up corn nice heavy hook to weigh em down you could

Of had all them big feckers! POP UPS ARE SHIT how can you hook the bottom lip when the boilie wants rise to the top of the carps mouth basic fukin gravity stop wasting money on all these shit rigs that wankers are telling you to buy and use ur fookin noodle anglers make ur own custom rigs!

  • I dont understand, i thought that rig is meant to hook the carp as they try to eject the bait?

  • just get that popup close to the bend of the hook with some tube or ring

  • try a critically balanced bait, the problem seems to be the lack of movement when the carp tries to sick it towards its mouth

  • tbh it could just be the rig mechanics with the hook

  • after watching that i dont think i will ever use a pop up again m8

  • That walrus carp one has dropsy and will soon die. It is a problem with their swim bladder, which helps them regulate their depth in the water. If they have dropsy, then they either sink or float, and also have trouble swimming.

  • what is the camera set up on these vids? it's fantastic

  • @gareth121astra Thanks. Check my Web site, I wrote a couple of articles about underwater video recording.

  • WALRUS :D

  • notice at the fish gets away with mouthing the bait and spitting it out..its the rig how its tied thats the problem not the bait being of the bottom..and i pop up that high i would onlu use that in silt..

  • omg that fish i a walrus

  • Fantastic video mate
