  • This makes Christian's title win by DQ the nicest thing on Earth

  • At jcs lol

  • I tought the referee was supposed to raise the hand of the new champion...

  • the ref bailed, he knew it was a screw job

  • it makes me think this was a work cos if it wasnt they would end the show after brett went nuts

  • Damn Triple H was totally bodyguarding Shawn at the end. He was making sure Bret couldn't get at him even if he wanted to. You can tell by his body language.

  • If you look real close after Hebner screams "ring the bell", he runs through the crowd to run away from Bret, but not before selling some shirts and autographs to the fans in the first few rows

  • In so many interviews including shawn michaels book and DVD, he says that Vince planned it and him, triple h, chyna, earl, and the king and Jim Ross were in on it. It was kept secret from everyone else. If that's not enough proof, how did triple h know to come and protect Shawn along with several referees.

  • Ted Turner screwed Vince

  • @theballer04 Nope

  • Bret screwed Bret

  • Earl Hebner asshole and softegg in one

  • Looking back I think this whole thing was a work.

  • @theballer04 Wasn't a work

  • @locke180 You're probably a WWE employee

  • Not seen by most people shawn looks at the ref the moment he puts the sharpshooter in waiting for the ref to ring the bell shawn was in on it.

  • Check the rev tapping on hbk shoulder then runs off

  • when you look at the moment bert hart spitting at vince you can see shawn michaels was suprised too that he won by cheating and it was not a fair bell !!! amazing too

  • wtf happened the ref called for the bell yet bret didnt submit

  • @shredmaster100 Vince told the ref to ring the bell, that is the whole concept of the Montreal Screwjob

  • ah ok its been years since ive watched these old matches wwf used to be a lot better than it is today and most of the last good wwf wrestlers have now gone to tna

  • @shredmaster100 wwe now.

I gave up on mainstream wrestling, because it is a disgrace to the actual sport of wrestling. wwe calls themselves entertainment, not a sport, to avoid government regulations and having to pay large amounts of money. That right there proves that wwe doesn't care about the wrestlers and the whole sport of wrestling in general. Now tna is bringing in all these wasted up wrestlers that just need to retire or at least be off camera and help teach the young talent,

  • any idea why the wwf had to change its name because ive never liked the name change for me the company will always be the wwf and have u noticed that theres not much new talent in wrestling today the last big named new star i liked was brock lesnar he proved he was a good fighter by going into the ufc and winning the title there just a shame he got too ill to fight anymore and tna is the only wrestling show i watch today because it is the future of wrestling in my opinion

  • @shredmaster100 - They changed the name because they became a publicly owned company, and also I would imagine it was because they had countless run-ins with the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) because of the acronyms being the same - it's why some of the DVDs have the WWF blurred out wherever they can, including the ref shirts.

  • 13:52 TROLOLOLO

  • A few years back now i also spit in my former supervisor's face then walked out for discrimination and it felt damn good to.

  • How could the ref (1/2 his size) hurt Bret Hart? Stupid,,,

  • hell of a match though

  • Lol HBK is a G

  • I have a hard time believing that this was really a setup behind Bret's back. Wrestling is SCRIPTED people. People in Canada just went ape shit and overreacted, and no pun intended towards Canada. How many other superstars have been screwed in their hometown? The British Bulldog lost the European title in the UK to Shawn Michaels. Why didn't anybody make a big deal about that? *WAITS FOR NASTY COMMENTS* Let it out people...

  • @JTC31290

I don't think so. It is an entertainment business, and it's not inconceivable that the entire thing was/is just one big act. That being said, they must really be dedicated to the lie if they continue to perpetuate the myth well over a decade after it happened.

  • @Managasm

It was a set up... At the time, Vince had too much ego to let a wrestler spit in his face with such a huge clam just for the show....

  • @JTC31290 the finish at one night only was agreed upon prior to the event unlike this one.

  • @JTC31290 I do recall that the local media in the UK was pissed when Bulldog lost and the arena practically rioted in disgust, although at least the Bulldog knew he was suppose to lose, I understand why you feel sceptical but I'm pretty sure this one was real and Bret legitimately broke his hand punching Vince in the face after the match which was not caught on camera (if that had been planned they would've made sure to have a camera at the ready)

  • Stupid Canadians.

  • The greatest work ever

  • @theballer04 How was it a work?

  • @TheDuelOfFates Vince, Shawn and Bret knew that their careers would be defined by this moment. Bret was leaving anyways. It just screams, "Work"

  • @theballer04 Doesn't a work imply both wrestlers were aware of what was coming? Vince actually shocked everyone with this... it will forever go down in history as the realest moment in pro wrestling.

  • @datriadx18 It's a lot like Santa Clause. It's nice to believe it is real, but any adult knows it is not.

  • @theballer04 Lol u're not getting it. The Screwjob wasn't faked. Bret Hart's contract was up at the time, and there was talk of him leaving to WCW behind the scenes. McMahon didn't want to make his product look weak by having his 'World Champion' defect to a rival promotion with his company's title. It is the reason Bret severed ties with the WWE for years until recently. Everyone obviously knows the action is scripted... this moment was not, but the WWE used it to its own advantage afterwards.

  • @datriadx18 You're free to believe what you want to believe, and so am I. The fact of the matter remains that any and all information about it was revealed by people who were in on it, so that information remains suspect.

  • @theballer04 I can't tell if you're trolling or not? The reason why this incident is so famous is because they completely went against the script and even changed the storyline which was meant to follow the event because Vince didn't want hart to leave champion. Hart chose montreal to be his last but vince changed the result during the fight.

It's ironic really, it's the realest moment in a scripted show and is ridiculously controversal.

  • 14:14 epic moment

  • Best wrestling match I was 13 best ppv as well

  • 13:50

  • 14:13 Bret spits in McMahon's face

  • @bijand25 Just like that female wrestler Medusa did, he would win the match, leave WWF and go to WcW and make a mockery of the WWF belt on top of that it would make the WcW look like the superior show. Also leaving WWF without a champion. I don't like what they did with Bret there but Bret wasn't going to give up the belt, he is only a wrestler not the man in charge.

  • How? how would he carry the belt to wcw . that makes no sense.

  • @bijand25 the women's champion did that

  • Shawn Micheals theme is the best because he sings it himself. It always cracks me up. On a more serious note i don't see why bret spat in vinces face get knew this was going to happen . Its in the script

  • @bijand25 This is actually the point. Before the match Bret and Vince decided that Bret should win, but Vince turned his mind, because he feared Bret carrying the belt to another organisation. The wikipedia article is quite good.

  • LOL @ earl hebner calling for the bell and then getting the fuck out of the ring so bret hart didn't kick his ass

  • @benjamm1nn - *sarcasm alert* Yeah, like it would never have had nothing to do with the fact that there was a huge crowd already hot and angry and he'd just been party to screwing Bret, their apparent hero, out of the title belt - that they could have invaded the ring and beaten the shit out of him and Shawn. Yeah, of course Earl's greatest fear must have been him thinking that a punch from a whiny, bitching, hair-pulling bitch dressed in pink and black would really, really hurt him.

  • 14:12 Bret spitting in Vince's face and about 14:23 you can see Vince cleaning his face

  • I remember watching this as a kid! Didn't know what's going on until I got older! Well actually I was a dumb ass back then and thought Wrestling was real....so the Montreal Screwjob and the complexity behind it would have gone WAY over my head! lol

  • McMahon is a big piece of shit
