I bought the Egnater Rebel 30 head cab combination a few months ago and I LOVE it! I have 5 amps including a couple of boutique amps. I have a dozen guitars and some sound good to great on each of the the amps, but, all sound great on the Egnater amp. All bs aside, this amp rips it up.
@jasonpalma95 I used this head for about a year, I play frequent gigs. I never had a problem with getting high volumes out of this thing, and the clean channel really doesn't start to get fuzzy until about half way on the volume knob. Egnater Amps are excellent, and give you high feature to dollar ratio. They sound amazing too :-P
@sharpietunes23 The speakers color definitely do color the sound. (if you're looking for good cabs, find some with Vintage 30's or Greenbacks in em!) but the head will provide the majority of the tone. By the way, most Marshall's are actually all tube amps, with the exception of more recent amps such as the MG's, JMD:1 and the Mode Four. (JMD:1 and Mode Four are hybrid amps, half tube, half solid state.) I actually sold this guy and bought a 2004 Marshall TSL100 head.
sounds great both clean and crunch great amp. one question though if you have the Egnater head and the Marshall cab will it have a marshall or egnater sound?
@sharpietunes23 Speakers do make a difference, but the head is going to influence the majority of the sound. As far as I know most Marshalls are solid state amps, and the Eg is a tube amp.
@racerx3065 This thing is very compact and light. Especially when you compare it to a bulky 100 watt head. To answer your other question, the clean channel responds well to pedals (at least the ones I've tried- BOSS delay and chorus).
and to answer your question, it stays pretty clean, but at higher volumes the cleans do break up a bit. This is probably due to it being a low wattage amp. Still though, this thing is a BEAST of an amp and when those tubes get cooking when you turn the amp way up, the gain levels are impressive. The cleans are usable but not pristine at high volumes. Hope this helped!
@mrmclaren27 hey man, just wondering im seriously considering this amp and just wanted to get few things straight. Is it light and small enough just to 'pick up and go' i have a 100 watt head at the minute and its just too much to carry round. Also, would you reccommend it for the clean channel and to put pedals in front of it? thanks so much!
Finally a man that appreciates mids.
