shoulda just recorded it off TV like me :) but go Beijing, it was... brilliant. It actually was one of the highlights of my life so far, and i wasnt even there....

Not just best Olympic ceremony, but actually the biggest and best show, i think, that has every taken place on this earth to this day. Most people don't realise this, and how they will probobly never seen anything like it again. It's a shame people missed it.... It's an important part of history, politically, and just visually!

sclogse1, it's the International Olympic Committee (IOC) who are to blame for pulling all the Beijing Olympic videos off YouTube. The IOC seem to be looking through rose tinted specs thinking you will buy the ceremony DVD. Reality is of course that everyone gets annoyed, then goes and watches something else.

Trouble with these people in their ivory castles is they lose touch with reality!

How any other country could match or improve on this level of perfection is just unbelievable.

The Beijing 2008 Olympic games have done its people and it's government proud for the excellence it has achieved in 2008.

Next move is London for the summer Olympics in 2012.

I'm no fan of the Chinese government. But I think people are over-reacting over the "FAKE" incidents. I feel sorry for the little girl who had such a beautiful voice and feel bad that the visibility that night was so poor that they felt they needed to augment the footage. But pleas whole picture - this is a country going out of its way to give the best show they can to their international audience!! Can you imagine the months (possibly) years of preparation?

ONLY ONE 2 MINUTE video of the footprint fireworks approaching the stadium was "computerised" because IT WOULD HAVE BEEN IMPOSSIBLE TO FILM IT LIVE!! they actually did have those fireworks!! the rest of the fireworks were real too!

the fireworks were real. if you were in china looking at beijing you would see the footsteps fireworks. its just that it's too dangerous for the helicopters to get so close to record the fireworks so they had to "enhance" it on TV. but nontheless the fireworks were real and the ceremony was SPECTACULAR.

yea same here. the opening ceremony in my opinion was THE BEST and SPECTACULAR opening ceremony ever. i think no one, not even london's gonna top this for like 20 years. the precision and timing of everything, and everyone's like in perfect sync made the show awesome. they must have put like hundreds of hours of practice into the performances. I also love how you understand that and not like some other people on the internet saying the fireworks were "fake" and the ceremony sucks just... (cont.)

(cont.) ...just because of the fireworks being fake ON TV, but it was real in beijing. but I do feel sorry for that little girl that didn't get credit for recording her voice and didn't get to sing in front of tens of thousands of people. that's about the only bad part of the ceremony. but, even if the ceremony didn't have that part, it still would have been AWESOME to the fullest. but now I hope they let the "behind the scenes" girl sing at the closing ceremony and give credit to her.

I know of several colleagues who have lost their accounts on YouTube, you only have to do a search on here to notice very few videos from the Beijing Olympic Games are displaying to realise something is going on.

There is actually a official beijing 2008 channel on YouTube but it can't be viewed by users living in most of Europe or the USA due to broadcast restrictions.

bigmoney121 I would like to upload more video clips of the 2008 Beijing Olympics but dare not because the IOC are getting really heavy handed over this and pulling all unauthorised videos of the Beijing Olympic games off YouTube.

What many users may not know is if 3 videos are deleted their account will be deleted along with all their videos.

Search on Google for "YouTube slaughter of uploaded Beijing Olympic Ceremony videos begins" and view the posts on the forum.
