Thanks for sharing the video dog !! It's so much fun to watch,i love those harvesting machines, especially the shaker and the sweeper.California is the walnut capitol of the world.I only have five trees to harvest tomorrow.I'm in Gilroy California,we're known for being the garlic capitol of the world, but there's plenty of walnut trees to go around in the areas as well..;))))))
@SithSereyPheap1 Thanks Man, Gilroy is a beautiful area and I like the smell when they are harvesting the garlic. It makes me think something's cookn'. Good luck with the harvest!
@rtiganasu I am glad you enjoy the video. Most of the land here is flat but the shaker has a low gear for hills. Newer shaker's breaks will automatically apply when the hydrostat is not in use--which prevents the machine from rolling on hills. On extreme hills farmers have put "Best Shakers" & "cable shakers" on small Caterpillars. In Hawaii, Macadamia farmers harvest on hills and like the "3 Wheel Drive Ramacher JD48" to pick up the nuts. Hello Sir. Michael, i am Ekrem from Kosovo, and i have question please.
I am a beginner in this business with walnuts, please can you show me how long I need a walnut to fruit, after years as the fruit reaches the maximum size of a walnut body? in the future I will need like your machine as where you can find. I am grateful for your help. Greetings from Kosovo.

@ekremvllasa1 It takes about 5 years for walnut trees to mature and produce nuts. The trees you see in the video are about 14 years old but we have some trees that are about 100 years old. Few walnut trees in the US live longer than 50 years because of the disease “black line.” Most nut harvesting equipment is manufactured in California: Flory, Weiss McNair, OMC... jrmorley, that is an option many farmers use. In that case, the carts can not be very large and the orchard ground must be flat. Larger carts, like the one here, are 4 to 6 times larger and use a high pressure hydraulic system to keep nuts from overflowing in the front. It is difficult, time consuming, and dangerous to disconnect and then reconnect a cart that is 10,000 lbs full of nuts and most often on uneven ground.
Ithink it would be more productive if the trailer to trailer process was eliminated. Detach the full trailer then attach an empty trailer. Possibly quicker than waiting for trailer to empty.

Dear Mr. Michael, could you please tell us which surface is served by the machines you presented?
Do you have terraced slopes in your walnut orchard? Are these slopes possible to be harvested mechanizes upon your experience?
Congratulation for the videos which are very well realised.
