What is so very awesome about Nora is that listening to her promotes feelings! She makes you feel the song and then you start really thinking about life, love, the ups and downs. You tear up, laugh or long for a hug, but your always feeling something.
Poem :The starless time, without movement of the distant hills,in the space between the wine ends lit the flower of hope, you my still beating heart of youth, endlessly back the width of the name of the inexhaustible strength, the quiet farm in the wind settles, which brings longing in me the edge of the night,a silent flower in the sand, my pain You are the lonely looking for my last dance.
I heard her mmm in my first year of university totally by chance. I heard this tune, it caught my ear and I've been lookin and hearin' for more! I totally love her humbleness and grace. She just does what she does. Simple as that.
I love this song, the simple phrasing, the easy going vocals that are somehow just about as apt as they can be and also subtly tender, a great combination. The beautiful melodies, the harmonising that's just right at the end. Its a simple beautiful and wonderfully sung. Norah Jones has many arrows to her bow and is so under-rated and underappreciated in today's world.
@KennethKatastrophe I don't think you can begin to compare them. They're Apples and Oranges. Norah's so laid back and Beyonce is so dynamic. It's whatever you're in the mood for!
very awsome lady..i wish more music was like this rather than that all the pop culture crap...but i cant hate cause some of it is masterfully drawing..they sure have some great industrial psych majors that work for the entertainment industry...getting into heads the way they do...
To Riss313, so true, i am glad to hear someone else truly appreciating this artist but you forgot one more trait that sets her apart...when you listen to her music she makes you feel safe, vulnerable and raw but so safe and unfettered because she makes yo0u realize that we are all the same--human. She doesnt numb your soul, she reconnects you to it everytime and to those around you .
To all those that are fighting, and, or arguing over which genre of music, or artists are better. Give it a rest, there is no superior genre, just like there is no superior race! People need to listen to whatever sounds good to them and enjoy the music they listen to, don't bash others for what they like. Instead I urge you to try and broaden your interests and listen to something new. You never know, you may actually like it. In short have an open mind always !
@thapadi Why do you feel the need to trash people who don't like the song? Do you think you're clever? I like Norah Jones, but I can name you a half dozen singers in the same genre who are (or were) better.
@79barkingspider, first i must admire ur user name, i can't think of barking spider. about the people i never comment anything bad, i said they r fan of britney spears, but u don't consider britney spears gud singer. that's why u think i trash them. abt norah jones i do think she is better than britney spears coz of her vocal quality. i m broken that's why i like ur smile it serves me well, i love ur laugh that steals my pain.
@BrightLights916 KInd of a long list, but here are a few: Melody Gardot, Rachel Farrell, Eva Cassidy, Judith Durham, Deanna Durbin, Cass Elliot, Angela Gheorghiu. Only the first two and last one are still recording. Gardot and Farrel are the greatest living female jazz-blues singers alive today. Gheorghiu makes me forget there ever were other opera singers.
It amazes me sometimes. There is no real excuse for me to come back to these Youtube videos having all 4 albums, and the featuring album. [there is one, the covers not released or rare songs] What amazes me are some of the comments. Norah and Britney in the same paragraph. Are you mad Shalazar. Norah actually is a goddess of voice and sound compared to Britney's frog voice. Its a fact.
this is, most definitly one of my favourite songs.
i love many other songs and singers, but if i had a choice between all of them and this lone song, i would choose this one, because it has magic, and i have heard other songs that have magic for me, but it always slowly fades and this one, well, it has eternal magic.
When I listen to Norah I instantly feel like I am sitting on the front porch of an old collonial house looking over the Bayou in the late summer day as the sun sets and the wind blows in the salty marsh air... I love this music and Norah does a fine job, I guarantee...

Jesus. Help me understand Jesus. Your father the lord God did send down an angel, as this song proves. Yet 14 people who will surely fall down to hell when they die, have clicked the thumbs down button. Jesus, explain to me why they did such. Explain to me why it is wrong to incarcerate them for crimes against gorgeous music.

He's got a broken voice and a twisted smile,
Guess he's been that way for quite awhile,
Got blood on his shoes and mud on his brim,
Did he do it to himself or was it done to him?
People think he don't look well,
But all he needs from what I can tell,
Is someone to help wash away all the paint,
From his purple hands before it gets too late.

Simply beautiful. I love it when she gets one with the emotion of the song, she is one of very few people I can feel that with.

i love the song, especially it lyrics like "broken voice" and "twisted smile" part.
Does anyone know who does "he" refer to? A little boy who does not seem to be lovable? Or a unattractive man in appearance?
beautifulmessinside 2 years ago 4
I think the "he" is whoever you want it to be. It's up to interpertation.

this is my favourite song of all tme, she's got an amazing voice, took me ages to figure out the song was about a tramp though :S
timjeffandy 2 years ago 6
are you sure that the song is about the tramp? I mean, it depends of the point of view... Never mind, the song is beautiful anyway :)

Man! I cant help feeling a sense of relief, from I smile rushing up from my gut. Such a sweet and reassuring song, that only the wounded Souls can feel.

Is that all you can find to say about her? Nothing about her voice? Her talent?
ansperyper 2 years ago 16
EXACTLY. I feel ya. I find it childish when people come on here on talented singer's songs and all they have to comment on are their looks... true music fans listen for the art..not for how the artist looks.
