  • when i save my 2 min long video it 80gb why help please

  • @oskarrstudios are you setting the codec before u actually start chopping/ compressing because that has happened to me on more than one occasion

  • Comment removed

  • @yully89 it works now thanks so much

  • big thank you for the codec link great vid ! Keep up the good work .

  • thx for this tutorial

  • @whosoDan use Fraps if its on a computer

  • Seems like i got the hang of this. Thanks for the tutorial, clear work, thanks for the codecs as well.

  • THANK YOU!

  • when i download the divx i cant see it

  • What if i have 3 video files i want to join together can i do it in this aswell?

  • @fumji i think you can do it, but it has to be done with the same recording settings... otherwise it wont be able to join them together

  • @yully89 Thanks (: i'll try and work it out now i know im not wasting my time

  • @fumji go in to append avi segment and chosse the files you want

  • does anyone know how to queue up more than 1 video at a time? I've got 20 videos I want to compress, but hate having to do it 1 by 1. Thanks in Advance

  • @MrNubshow go into jobs list and you can view all active jobs before you compress them ill make a tutorial on this at some point

  • @yully89 How do you create a job file type? (.job) Looking forward to the tutorial. Thanks in Advance

  • @MrNubshow Go under "File" and select "Append AVI". It'll add the new file you select to the end of the file already open.

  • I would use .mp4 instead. avi is not the best format. And ive heard of langarith lossless codec which seems good. h.264 is also a nice codec.

  • I THANK YOU SO MUCH. My file size for my one minute clip was literally over 2.1 gigabytes. This got it down to a little over 1 megabyte. I don't know how its possible. We should hang out some time.

  • LOL @ this tutorial for skipping over the part we actually need to know. I know how to use a pull down menu. I don't know what to bitrate to use. My files are coming out bigger than the original files. I'll keep playing around with it but this was a useless tutorial and I wanted you to know that.

  • 2gb to 150mb

    mine is 300mb, to 150mb

    WTF!!!!

  • thanks

  • When im using vdub to capture video from a game as well as the audio from the video. Is there anyway to capture my voice from a USB mic at the same time so my voice is synced with the video?

  • @SkunknOwl What I do is use virtual dub to compress the videos down and use other programs to record such as hypercam or craps or camtasia version 5. If you want to record your voice simultaneously you need to set your recording audio to stereo mix and have a microphone plugged into your mic jack and vwala then record using one of those other programs and import And use the method shown in the video

  • @yully89

Im talking about from my Xbox or PS3. When I record video I have to press record on Vdub and then quickly switch to the sound recorder to record my voice.

  • @SkunknOwl unfortunately i dont know how to help since i only use VD to compress footage ive already recorded sorry man :(

  • @yully89

    alright.

thanks for at least replying to my questions! :)

  • @SkunknOwl no worries, try a tech support forum or something along those lines they may be of more help :)

  • @SkunknOwl just record your voice frst you allways edit it later

  • @yully89 Fraps dude not Craps O.o

  • @yully89 lol craps! xP

  • @Pawnda1011 i have the same question...downloaded and installed but its not in my option in virtualdub....any solutions/ help?

  • i got a question when ive encoded like brightness and contrast how do i have it so i can preview the saved settings i done so i can veiw it as aVI file again so i can watch it on movie players?

  • @DownloadFest11 from my experience its shown on the right panel of how it will look, if not cut down a chunk and process it and see how it looks as a test

  • Ive got one question. when i compressed a video for the first time, everything went fine. but later when i tried to compress other videos it said that there is an error 100. Any suggestions?

  • @KubaLom sorry i wouldnt know the answer :/ ive never had any trouble with it myself

  • Zelda! Nice tutorial though.

  • Hey I want to give you my thanks. I have been using a primitive way of compression that really destroyed the quality of my videos, and you have changed that. Thanks!

  • its OK. but i cant put it in Windows movie maker but i just use sony vegas instead. TX for program ;=) - Subbed.

  • wow, this gives me HQ/HD - Thanks!

  • Thanks you :)

  • Xvid Won't appear on my copy. Help?

  • awesome is that... ocarina of time?? I'm here thinking it was wOw

  • how do you join vids? using virtual dub?

  • @ss4chris89 i know but i honest to god cannot remember for the life of me lol

  • @yully89 lol i youtubed it its ok.

  • how do you join vids?

  • If I play the video in Virtual Dub it looks fine but when I´ve compressed it and play it in like media player it lags. How can I fix this?

  • @Magicmaster020 are you using the same codec i used? what is your OP and what is the size of the video your trying to do before hand

  • @yully89 I downloaded the codec and got it working. Thanks!

  • @Magicmaster020 If you cant find anyway to fix it why not just record the video from virtual dub with a recording software?

  • TO ALL USING VIRTUALDUB 64bit AND CODECS NOT SHOWING UP: Use the 32-bit version. It works.

  • @DantehMan omg ty ffs

  • I downloaded the xvid codec but it does not show up when i got to the compression window

  • @MUNCHDUDE Use VirtualDub 32bit instead of 64bit. Worked for me!

  • @DantehMan Yeah I tried this before your reply and it worked >_>. heh

  • hey thanks for the guide! was wondering though if theres a way to make a que for the compression so i dont i have to convert the files one by one. i see there's a batch wizard but i cant get it to work. can you help me out?

  • THANKS A LOT :D you so cool :3

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH!! I got it from 16 GB to 183 MB and the quality is pretty much the same xD ! xx

  • When I press ok after save as AVI, nothing appears. And no image is saved onto the file either.

  • 2 Gigs to 135 MB? I DEFINITELY need to start playing with this thing more...I usually just go through AutoGK for creating AVIs with Virtual Dub attached.

  • LOZ BABY!!!!

  • Thanks - u helped me!

  • Great job! Helped me alot! 10/10

  • Tahnks great help!

  • The codec wont appear. I'm running windows 7 btw.

  • @STRING3R this appears to be a rather large problem people have :( unfortunately i dont know any fixes as ive never had any trouble with this

  • @yully89 I found a solution, Use 32bit virtualdub, since 64bit virtualdub doesnt support xvid and divx.

  • @yully89 do you know how to compress call of duty 4 pc pictures into a movie from avidemo? - ive tryed downloading a compressor or a codec for vdub and its not showing up in vrtualdub.

  • @marti2k7 try windows movie maker if you wantto make a movie from pictures

  • @yully89 thanks

  • Thanks for the tutorial

  • Thanks for the tutorial mate, excellent work.

  • Hey I have this question. I've done everything you did, also with the codec and stuff. But when it's done with the compression thing, and I want to play the video...it's playing the video in double speed :\. How can I fix that?

  • @dvoftw thats abit odd :S umm tbh i have no idea... hmm

  • @yully89 Before I had Windows 7 I frapsed alot and it played normal speed...but I lost my configurations etc and I just followed this guide to compress a vid. Now I am playing it but it plays @ 1.5 or double speed :S. Really dont know how to fix it?

  • @dvoftw perhaps windows 7 is ur problem, i run virtual dub on vista

  • @yully89 Hehe funny guy :p....vista sucks balls.

  • where i can dw a good codec? or which codec u recomend to make good quality and low MB?

  • I also cannot see the codec after I installed it.

  • @B1ackmagic what system are you running? vista or xp?

  • @yully89

    Windows 7

I have also tried to install other codecs and i've installed VLC which I have been told puts some codecs in there.

    Nothing works.

  • @B1ackmagic

Just so you know, i've spent about 3 hours last night on google for a solution.

  • @yully89

It's been a week and no reply. I've still not been able to get the codec to appear.

I'm now working with my friend to try and get it to work on his Windows XP.

  • @B1ackmagic this tutorial was done on windows vista, wat version of v/dub r u using

  • @yully89

I'm on Windows 7 and with virtualdub 1.9.9

My friend has not had a problem with Windows XP and virtualdub 1.9.9

  • @B1ackmagic windows 7 wil be your problem then, its a designed for use on xp, not realli on xp, and definately not on vista

  • @yully89 Well, I actually have Windows 7 and it works perfectly.

  • @yully89 Wait, I have Vista :( your saying it won't work for me? Virtual dub I mean

  • very helpful...thanks!

  • @Aversie everyone seems to have this problem :/ unfortunately without me being their i have no idea how to fix it

  • Thank you for posting this :D

  • Thanks man!

  • i install the codec and i dont have xvid mpeg-4 codec pls help.

  • @marsy212 that is very strange :S have you opened the codec itself? maybe download xvid player?

  • i have downloaded and installed the xvid codec, but it doesn't show up in the compression window

  • @Arabtomten hmm thats very strange it shoudl usually just install and go :S

  • thank you so much

  • Thanks very much!!

  • man thx ^^ all works fine that is what i was searching ^^ thx ah if it helps who need fraps to record games download this here: /watch?v=NXkuirqmfCk

  • im sorry, what?

  • How to add this Xvid MPEG-4 Plugin?

    Please,help!

  • @djemeca just run the .exe from the download..

  • please help me i do everthing u said with the right codec and everything but the file only comes out like 10 mb smaller :(

  • what size is the file to begin with? and have you tried altering how good the video comes out

  • um a normal 700mb avi movie file and a no? what do you mean altering how good the video comes out?

  • go on configure on the video compression part where you select the codec and then you can alter a number, i would put up a video but i dont have my computer at the moment its in for repairs

  • hmm tnx i fixed it but virtual dub isnt the answer to my prob, may vid is only 26 sec. but after i compress it, 21mb and the video im about to make is atleast 5mins, do u have any suggestions?? or comments pls sir help tnx

  • are you editing videos together?

  • yes sir,

  • then unfortunately i cant really help you with editing them together, just trimming and compressing them down, the only editing software im familiar with enough to suggest is either windows movie maker or final cut pro, but final cut is on a MAC and rather expensive, other than that i dont know what to suggest, if you can edit your videos together in something and save it as an .avi then compress it here thats what i would suggest at any rate

  • i have downloaded the link for virtual dub but, there is no xvid mpeg4 codec, in the selection pls help

  • you have to download the codec seperate, see the description to the ----> for the link

  • Thanks for the tutorial. You made my life easier =).

  • i got xvid but its not showing up in the Select Video Compression. Any suggestions?

  • no idea really, it should show up

  • I fixed it, i had the wrong version.

  • Excellent! Bits 'n bobs advice galore.

  • dude i try to insert subs in my movie and by 240mb goes 480mb.. :S you can explain me what i must make?

  • depends on your compression codec and what editing software your using

  • Yeah, I'm using that codec.

Unfortunately when I try to edit the video with Windows movie maker, the video will, when ready, for some reason be split half and the upper half is the video, and lower is green. Any1 with same problem? I would like to get rid of it :)

  • dude , nice GJ ! , that helped me very mutch , thank you .

  • Thanks!

  • Thanks!

  • Many thanks dude , My 4 min video was 7 GB's now its 170 MB thanks

  • no problem virtual dub comes off as hard at first but its mega easy once you know how

  • does it comes out in HD

  • i think that gas something to do with with the codecs, i dont use HD so i really would know, ask necroscope i know he works in HD as does valis77

  • DAMN i'm pissed I went to my local game store and I look at GBA games I find legacy of goku 2 & final fantasy 4 I was gonna get both since you recomended them and the damn employe can find the damn keys I am so angery right now. Wow I said damn a lot pardon my french.

  • DUDE TY now looking if it works for me :O btw do you need to compress it everytime?? :D

  • well it depends on the file size, youtube has a 1gb limit, so i would recommend compressing down to see what the comparison is

  • dude the 10 minute vids are 60 MB SO TY MATE :D I apriciate it :D i can kiss you so happy am i XD

  • the youtube limit has been raised to 2 GB

  • When i record with camtasia the files come out pretty small

  • yeah that happens unfortunately

  • What filesize do your videos have in general? ~130 MB out of a 2.4 GB File? I have, when i compress to mp4, ~40 MB out of ~2 GB. Then I'll stretch it to YT-Size and maybe to fullscreen. Don't think that i have that much of a qualityloss

btw add me on skype ^^

  • my videos are normally about 2.something gb but save as avi not mp4 unless your using a mac

  • guess you're getting me wrong ^^ i'm compressing it to mp4 ^^ the filesize is smaller than avi

  • A note to add to that, should XviD fail for you (some people get problems with it) just get the DivX codec from their site. It's practically the same and just as free, just spelled backwards :P

  • haha fair enough, ill remember that for the future

  • Honestly what would we do without Virtual dub. Also it has funny initials if your as immature as me
