Your tutorials have greatly helped me, just from watching your videos for just over an hour I can already model a human head! I would definitely recommend your videos to anyone who wished to start 3D modelling (:
I have spent the last few weeks getting to know the blender interface and I must say that your tutorials are by far the clearest and well laid out. I learned so much do to the fact as you move from one point to another you continually reiterate the keyboard moves and their functions. Again thank you for taking the time to show us how to work in the blender environment with such ease.
@LCMichaels And thank you for the feedback, it helps me to know if how I'm explaining things makes sense...I try, happy to hear it's been helpful :^))
Thanks for making these tutorials, it took weeks to get this project going, then when I found your tutorial everything got faster and, more importantly, simpler.
@vscorpianc Every time I try to make a horizontal cut, the loop goes around the head instead of round the face, down the neck, it does the same thing when I try to make a loop cut for around the mouth, am I doing something wrong?
@ThisBeYourFriend Try selecting one edge, hold shift add the other edges around the mouth to make the loop manually - sometimes depending on your mesh the loops will follow other edges/verts/faces; once you make the first manual loop and extrude and scale it you should be able to make edge loops/face loops around the mouth HTH
Im having trouble with this process. When i make the loopcuts for the mouth opening i can't extrude them. when i hit E + Right Click without moving the mouse, and then pressing s to scale the faces it scales them but like this video. It bring the mouth in but it doesn't leave the lines lined up with the middle line in the model so i can keep my face in line, could you give me any help? i would appreciate it.
@Colton68352 If you're in front view when you get to s (scale) you would be moving the mouse up to go inward, or try doing it from side view 3 on numpad, do the e, r-click, s and move your mouse to the right to make it go inward HTH and makes sense
@vscorpianc I have tried doing the E then right click right into the S. Am I suppose to hold one of the keys during the process or maybe have a setting on I do not? When I follow the instructions the best I can it does not do what I would like it to. But I do agree with everyone you give very great instructions and tell use step by step key by key...many do not.
@Glormegil After you select the edge or face loop you press the E and r-click without moving the mouse at all, then when you press S to scale you want to scale inward I find on a face it's easiest to be in side view for this because you can press S, Y to restrain to the Y axis only before moving the mouse; try practicing this on a basic cube a few times until you get the feel for it HTH
@Colton68352 I figured out what i was doing wrong, I didn't realize you had to be out of proportional editing mode before you extrude your mouth. I did realize when you switched to your other model that the mouth is one whole face and mine already has one loopcut in it already. Is there anyway i can merge my to faces where that mouth should be to do the double loopcut that you did in the video?
well i moved my loopcut and resized it to my model and i added one more loopcut to make it potioned right and i think i've got it lol, this program can be very tedious lol. thank you very much for your help.
@gr8ghana Thanks, but I'm just a woman who is trying to help others by sharing what I have learned, glad to hear this was helpful and understandable. :^))
i HAVE TO SAY... YOU HAVE SHOWED ME MORE THINGS WITH MODELING THAT HAVE TOTALLY STUMPED ME IN THE PAST FROM OTHER CONFUSING TUTORIALS. i AM SOOOOO GRATEFUL FOR YOUR TEACHING. i AM LEARNING MORE FROM YOU THAN ANY OTHER TUTORIAL. tHANK YOU... SO VERY MUCH!
you should add "part 2" or "step 2" or something in this video title, and the other, so i can follow the step. btw, you're my teacher now :D thank youuuuu.....
For some reason, mine doesn't for extra boxes around the mouth like yours does when I follow the directions. I don' tknow if I'm missing something or what, because it just puckers mine. Awesome vids by the way!
@1964inahlee1968 Sounds like your talking about adding the extra faces (boxes) before extruding, you have to do the loop cut - ctrl+r put you mouse in one of the faces till you see the pink line, scroll up to add two cuts and press L mouse to add the cuts. HTH :)
Cool tutorial. This is the second i saw. The first was Head Model Beginner. Please can you make a tutorial for the startobject for this? Or write some tips how i can do this? I think you have delete the left side and add a mirror. I have the problem, that if i do E, right click and S that my face is splitting. Then i disabled the proportional editing mode, now no split, but when i do E ... and so on the 4 selected faces drift away from the vertical centerline. I think i have do something wrong.
@annett285 First, thanks for watching and commenting. As far as the start object you may want to watch the head model tutorial and start there, then add the mouth etc. It shows how to add the mirror modifier, and why you add clipping - this stops the splitting. With the E, R Click then Scale you have to practice that to get a feel, make sure you are not moving your mouse after pressing E, just Right Click right away then press S move inward on the model and L Click to keep your change. HTH :)

@XxZdarkyZxX The eyes are very similar to the mouth using edge loops and extruding in etc.
