Well, the original Dune is all about prophesies and spice. The Legends of Dune is all about war, especially space battles, which are an anachronism in Dune due to the monopoly.
Also, Vorian changes by the end, becoming more like Xavier, a hard-liner. Hell, Abulurd tried to help Vorian and got vilified for it, starting the Atreides-Harkonnen hatred.
Oddly enough, is it just me or does the legends of dune series feel more like battlestar galactica than dune. Hell, Vorian feels more like starbuck while Xavior felt more like adama in the machine crusades.
