  • Gaza children die because Palestinian men fire rockets at Israelis and then hide in schools, where they know fools will only read one side of the story and then help them win the war from within our country.

  • i covered this, if anybody's interested! beautiful song, i know i can't do it justice, but i felt such passion listening to it that i wanted to give it a shot.

  • Saoirse!

  • I'm Dutch, just saw the movie and i'm pretty sure that its one of the best ever made. Really exposes the drama in especially the civil war.

  • Troideanna Éirinn do na saoirse caillte. Tiocfaidh Ár Lá, mo chuid deartháireacha agus deirfiúracha.

  • @triotoonzzz Tá muid saor in aisce, tá Éire Bhreatain.

  • Sounds like Dick Gaughin singing .

  • @johnpaulmeehan na chioche from abla

  • A beautiufl song. It's a shame I can't find the Tommy Makem version anywhere.

  • Tå an amhrain seo go hålainn

  • @johnpaulmeehan - "proclamation" - as in to proclaim. One language at a time..." And it should read "brits out OF ni" - c'mon - you can't even speak their language. How in the hell do you expect to get them out of the north if you can't even martial an intellect? Hopeless..

  • this is a Scottish singer named dick gaughan

  • this is a scottish singer named dick gaughan

  • there is some beautiful instrumentals to this version.... very nice.

however, my personal preference is the Dead Can Dance version...

  • @thebeautiful1s Lisa Gerrard and Dead can dance is the only version to listen to.. Its totally captivating and magnetic...

  • @Anthrax2404 WORD

  • Dick Gaughan sing this song ! joyce died in 1883 :D, these lyrics are not identical to the original...

  • nice song

  • Who is the artist performing this version?

  • My favorite version of this tune <3

  • the bold united men. long time ago...

    very nice :)

  • @johnpaulmeehan I think you meant "proclamation." Correct spelling- learn about it. Also, you should know that the lyrics to this song were written by a man who died in 1883, so while the events of 1916 may be related, they are definitely not being addressed by this piece.

That being said, gorgeous song. Absolutely love it.

  • @firedheliel im no english teacher i will write things how i feel like and i simply wrote 1916 to show nothing has changed and yes they are very related so i think its completly relevant

  • @johnpaulmeehan Don't take it too seriously, just providing a little helpful info. To say nothing has changed would be a mistake, though. True enough the Troubles continue to an extent in the Ulster area, but as someone who has spent a significant amount of time living as a Dubliner and discussing the subject with Irish students in the college I attended in Dun Laoghaire, you'll find the Irish take more pride in their ability to bring peace to N. Ireland in the '90s than any revolution.

  • @firedheliel nah man i understand what you were saying. to be honnest tho nothing has really changed we have just chosen to close are ayes to it and have learned to accept we will always be treated diffrently. the areas that are now fighting again have learned this and have had enough. true we also take pride in being able to achieve peace and a revolution is not what we wanted we would like to be able to sit back cumfy in are homes but everyday we are reminded we are not free

  • The world hath conquered,

The wind hath scattered like dust

Alexander, Caesar, and all that shared sway.

Tara is grass, and behold how Troy lieth low --

    And even the English,

    Perchance their hour will come

  • up the ra

  • The friend who recommended this song to me committed suicide yesterday, and now this song just seems to mean so much more.

  • @MomSaysImCool i agree.

  • Had she shown you this song before she died? Apparently, she played for an entire class one time.

  • @MomSaysImCool no we just saw it on your wall on Facebook. It's a really beautiful song and she was a really beautiful person :(

  • I wish the United States didn't tax the hell out of musicians from other countries. Then I might have a chance of seeing Dick Gaughan here. I'll make it to Scotland one day to see him.

Has anyone seen this album online anywhere?

  • i wish as well to see dick gaughan here. i can't even find his albums anywhere, i tried small cd shops and even downloading them

  • @PatrickMcgowan79

Friend, anything that rings freedom, the USA will tax for one reason or the next. Ive seen Mr Gaughan 4 times in Scotland for pennies, Ive spoke to the man for free, its politics buddy - your country has its people in shackles. The people of your country are ones who ultimately have the power - revolt and ye shall prosper....Dick Gaughan is a man of freedom, his songs reverberate with 'fuck tyranny'. Do not accept your present bonds...listen to the whistle of nature!

  • Very emotive. Love the film of the same name - although absolutely heart wrenching. Although a mixture of Irish and English myself, Ireland is in my heart - where I am always happiest and and where I belong. Difficult to explain.

  • thanks alot mate much appreciated :)
