As a mourner of Dr. Pepperberg's Alex the counting, talking bird, I am offended that you have dared to name your lowly bird after the deceased legend. The real Alex would have told this bird "Talk better!" or "You turkey!" (actual alex quotes.)
Either way, homage or otherwise, what business of yours is it what and why she names her bird Alex? Maybe its a favorite name, a family name, or just a good name? Alex wasn't the first to have it, after all. How absurd.
play more music for and to animals... then, let them play along and make music back - classical music, string and wind instruments, harmonies and chords etc. we like good music. why wouldn't they like it, and more of it? plus, how do they respond to positive t.v. programs of themselves?
Lol. That is one funny ass bird. It just wants some attention. Pretty amazing that these things can talk. I haven't seen one of these birds up close for a while.
@freespeechplease :OMG you must be blond to ask a question like this, you really can't be serious,do you have pet's at home? you are not thinking about to cook your dog either, don't you?i'm really shocked that someone can really ask a stupid question like this and might be serious about this

are these parrots eventually harvested for their meat? i dont get why people spend so much time with a bird and then they just eat it. dont they grow attached?
buying a budgy is a great beginner bird they can say a couple of words and can become very tame. Of course they arnt expensive they dont need a large cage. I would say get something a bit bigger like maybe an idian ringneck or maybe a little conure but with these you need a bigger cage and are more expensive and need more interaction.
haha nice film ! I loved the way he shaked his head.
... Can i also ask for some advice? I want to buy a parrot that is not to much trouble and has the cappability to speak even a bit ... so i was thinking about a budgie can anyone respond to me and tell me if it would be a good idea to buy a budgie and if they talk even at the slightest. thnx.
I created a synth patch with which to serenade my girlfriend's Umbrella Cockatoo. It has resulted in more joy, and love and positive energy in our house! Thank you.
Hey, I'm curious, how do your Grey and Cockatoo get along? I know African Greys usually only get along with other greys, but I have heard that there are cases in which some Greys will get along with other birds, such as Amazons.
3 months? Give them time, they're not very domesticated yet. I purchased my grey when he was 6 months old and he was well domesticated then. Mine is 11 years old. My cockatoo is 12.
I bought two african grey babies recently - they are 12-13 weeks old. I was expecting that they would be more tame as they had been hand reared but neither bird will let me touch them without lots of crys and I have had a couple of nips to keep my hands at bay. They absloutely won't let me handle them. Maybe it's just too soon and they need to settle.
It doesn't sound like your babies are healthy, ask detailed information about your bird's diet and the type of hand feeding technique used, make sure the breeder is using a spoon feeding method, or a slow-syringe method. Tube feeding and power feeding can cause problems, and lack of attention as babies can too. Also, are they maintaining their weight on solid food? Babies usually have no objection to being handled.
So about this Cockatoo, then?

I apologize for my earlier comment. I realized that you named the bird in HONOR of the legend.

Haha what on earth? Of course she named him in honor of Alex. But yeah, Alex would tell him to talk better lol.

RULE #1..... having a bird that can talk should be the icing on the cake, NOT the reason to visit the bakery!!!
there's so much more to having a parrot companion.

Hi
Your parrot seems very tame.
Any tips? or is it just perseverence?
