Who are you calling a dunce!? I bet you don't even know what type of Jazz this is! Since when are you SUPPOSED to applaud after a solo? Do you also go clap in a March concert like a freaking rock concert!? Would you face palm Stephen for stopping so he wouldn't have to waste notes playing against the crowds clapping?
What do you expect when you face-plam someone who hasn't done anything to you.
If I wanted rage I could think of arrogant people.
I know! I'll ridicule people and impose my own beliefs as facts on someone in a rude manner and expect them to just take it. Maybe that will make me smarter!
The guitarist is Marc Fosset. He played with Grappelli when I had the privellege of seeing him in the Ulster Hall, about a year after this was recorded (Stephane was 87 at the time!). Gavin supported him at that gig too and they jammed after. I actually don't like this. Frankie just can't swing, in my opinion. He's still a MAGNIFICENT fiddler, though, a true master of trad.
Great clip clarebannerman. Thanks for posting it.Just goes to show how versatile a player Frankie is.He can play any type of music and it will always be enjoyable to watch.Lovely stuff.
versatility isn't a correct definition of what is being viewed here. Frankie is good at what he does but versatile he isn't. Good showing non the less.
One of the best SGBs I've seen here tonite!!!

It's jazz, you dunce. You're SUPPOSED to applaud after a solo.

Not likely the version you'll hear at a Harlem Globetrotters event.

@comhaltasmad actually Frankie made a mess of the piece because he was unable to improvise and Grapelli made a show of him.
