I have had the same issue (see my video response). I went to an Apple Authorized Service Provider. My MacBook Pro was diagnosed with an unclassified memory error and the complete logic board (incl. RAM, graphics chip and CPU) was replaced.
I'm having the same trouble. I was updating the firmware of my MacBook of 2007, but released the power buttom too early. Then the computer got the problem you described. I hope the logic board isn't broken. I just bought the MacBook.

I had the same problem and solved by resetting the logicboard, (removing the battery and putting it back) returned to work the imac

This happened to mine, hope they can fix it ASAP. Even the power cord doesnt light up when I connect it. I think the mother board is fried.

The logic board got replaces and now it appears to be working like a charm again :)
