i saw Sly and the Family Stone in their prime.Love them.. I hate to say it.. BUt Sly is shot...it's a shock he's still around ..I know he's still SLY Stone this sounds very noisy
is that sly??? whats up wit his neck?? damn - we seeing all our rock/funk/r&b heroes gettin old, old, old! sly, george, mick jagger, rod stewart, paul mccartney, tina turner ,aretha, diana ross, sugarfoot. kinda glad i didnt see jimi hendrix at 68 yrs old. have to give it up to ron isley-he's still looking good.....
Although I consider Sly & George Clinton to be two of the most influencial funk artists of the '60s, & '70s, this performance is NOT very good. However, it's nice to see these two guys still doing their thang. Parliament/Funkadelic & The Family Stone are two of the giants of funk music and these two men played a major role in shaping this music genre.
even Sly looks kinda heavy, who the fuck are these people? And what are they doing with I want to take you higher? They should change the lyrics to" I wanna eat some more ribs" toward the end the guitarist plays a Joe Wash lick from the James Gang Rides Again era lol I've heard better jams at a local Jam Night. Everyone here had way too much to drink, and eat!!!
You got George Clinton, Cesar Rosas and other members of Los Lobos (Richard Hidalgo, Los Lobos other guitarist, is clapping down on the floor), and Sly Stone on the organ (the skinny guy in the white hat...). Los Lobos jams on old and new school stuff...
This makes you appreciate a Larry Graham, or Kool and the Gang, EW&F, or even Bootsy, doesn't it? this is booty, and I don't mean that in a good way what so ever!
Can anybody name a Black band that came out in the last 15 years
Like the Ohio Players.Kool &the Gang,Slave, BT Express,Midnight Star,Earth, Wind & Fire,Gap Band,Lakeside,Isley Brothers,Brother Johnson,Chic,Change,New Birth ,L.T.D.,Commodores,Brainstorm, Ready for the World,Mandrill,Jimmy Hendricks,Mfsb,James Brown,Rolls Royce,George Clinton & P-Funk Allstars,Sly & the Family Stone
George Clinton comes from The Motown stable!! beleive iot or not! its' a fact! so did chong from cheech and chong! he sang with Bobby taylor and the Vancouvers!!
Oh maaaaan! Sylvester is my hero, forever...to see him taking it to the stage at all after what he's been through is a miracle! His voice ain't gone nowhere! I liken him to late period Miles - a little bit used-up, maybe not quite up to his old self, but still AMAZING!
Great to see him with old pal and brother-in-funk GC...George just seems to be unsinkable! You can't keep a Funkateer down!
Remember, if you fake the Funk, your nose will grow!
I think some of these fellows may be squatting in my building. Should I be concerned? I mean, they look pretty harmless, and they always have very nice things to say. Maybe I'll ask them up for coffee...
Memmer? The first P-Funk Allstars rekkid? That was GC & Proffesor Stone workin' out on the track Hydraulic Pump! I look forward to seein' Sly at a gig North of Santa Frisco this month.Check for a fabulously written new book about Sly & his contributions to the development of music as we understand it today. These are the memories to hold dear as they overshadow any private behavior escapades to make that BS less than moot. Think Jimi didn't dig Sly? You best Know that Miles sure in hell did!
George Clinton is putting together a funky pile of goodies on his latest album Radio Friendly to George will be singing updated versions of romantic songs about courtship (something we've been missing), which includes such classic as Marvin Gaye's "Ain't That Peculiar" and Johnny Ace's "Pledging My Love." Now he's updating the sound with the help of Sly Stone, Kim Burrell, The RZA, Carlos Santana, El Debarge, Shavo from System of a Down, Gary Shider, and Belita Woods.
ive made over 200 attempts to start a band and everyone ove met is no fun. even if we managed to get a set goin and play shows, it was no fun when people wouldn't stop complaining for one reason or another and then let it get to them and ruin the shows. people can learn alot from these guys who accomplished amazing bands while drugged up and chaos calling the shots. wake up people
AWESOME! what more can U say about these 2 GREAT LEGENDS! On top of that, If U ever meet them you'd know that they are all about love... DO Not Judge anyone by what you hear about their personal lives, no one is perfect. BUT SOME PEOPLE MAKE MUSIC THAT IS!
George and Sly are working in the studio on some slamming tracks and music. They are so on point, but they take breaks and read these comments. They said keep them coming.
George Clinton is not a disgrace he is a legend and as long as he does what he does best on stage his personal life is no business of anyone elses. He and Sly have been friends forever. They both have given us their all and I think we should respect their personal lives. We are here on this earth to judge anyone. I am happy to see them together on the same stage and having fun.
If you don't like it then don't go there because their fans want to see them.
Yes, & i have been to a couple of recent P-Funk shows,& they ROCKED!! So go Figure. Sly & George were both doing tons of drugs in their respective prime,so i don't know what it all means.
stop hating guys, whatever: creativity has its baggage do we need to judge, boy i could reveal lots of crack smokers in the business but who really cares...let people be who they wanna be. were all EVERYDAY PEOPLE when u really get down to it. hell if they like it I love it. just stop hatin on folks....deal with your own issues please
A TRAIN WRECK PRODUCTION!! They are Smashed man!, What happen?.... Stand, Riot is goin on, Mothership Connection, funkentelechy, Lives on FOREVER!! The masters at their peak!!
It's so sad to see Sly in such a slump. Sorta like what happened to Syd Barrett, where after a certain point, he just dropped off the musical radar. Barrett obviously for different reasons, but still, the fact that it happened is pretty effing legendary, and Iyet despite it, I'm only hearing about two of my favourite artists of all time being onstage together a MONTH after it happened. I'm not sure if something so monumental and historical has ever gone so unnoticed. Sad.
To 18wheeler1981...why do you want to post something negative...To me this is history in music...Maybe you don't much about music...Sly and George are life long friends...Does that mean they are smoking crack? NO! Maybe you need to see what this is all about before you make such comments...
ummm I wouldnt say lifetime friends...lol but i feel ya...they came together around 66 during a war protest concert in D.C. and have remained close since then. brithas in arms and have battled demons together...much love
18wheeler1981...How do you know what goes on...I think it is GREAT that these two life long friends are hanging out...Why so negative...maybe because you weren't there...
George Clinton, Sly Stone and Los Lobos is the band BEEEYAITCH!!!!! Who gives a fuck what drugs got done, these muthafunkaz are true survivors and musical pioneers, as well as psychedelic shaman that started doing shit before anyone knew what addiction really meant. It's a lot different than an asshole that starts smoking crack today. Did I say Los Lobos!!!!
well said....los lobos rocks bro. youd be shocked at how many of my people dig them. when i get out to see them i cant say i see many black folks but i know many who really dig those guys....just had to throw that out there...peace
