  • No1 Cool!~ Thank you^^

  • How do you make the mould/outside thing?

  • ay email me il buy some ahernandez1419@yahoo.com

  • @ahernandez1419

If you want a price guide for everything shoot me email at TimAllen27@hotmail.com

  • If I make a silicone mold, I can make a fiberglass helmet with this mold?

  • @moraisdesantana Yep, with the silicone from smoothon called "rebound 25" you can cast all kind of stuff in their molds with different resins.

  • wow x.x seems like a lot but i guess not to much if you're selling

  • @Traxxem : Thats $80 per gallon, a gallon can cast you probable 15-25 helmets. You only use a little bit per casting to get all your details out of your mold.

  • what is the price for the gel coat i cant find prices anywhere

  • @Traxxem

It varies, anywhere from $80 for the 1 gallon kit to a couple hundred for more. Go on the the BJB enterprises web site and give them a call.

  • How long did it take to make?

  • @Stanley050278

with all the research and tracking down the people who had the real helmet from the movie to acquire measurements of the helmet, I would say 2 months +/-

  • Were do u get the mold at?

  • @chicagoprince23

The material to make the mold?? Its from a company called smooth-on.

  • boring

  • thanks for the info... what is the gel coat made of I went to a tap plastic store and tried to describe what I saw in this vid and they had no idea.

  • '@ronlan1984- Go to BjB enterprises com and look up TC-1630, thats the gelcoat.

  • what exactly is the gel coat for and the resin mud

  • @ronlan1984: Gelcoat is the 1st layer that you pour into the mold, its purpose is to be the 1st layer in your casting to capture all the details from the mold. The "mud" is a term used when you take your resin and add a thickening agent to it, like talc, which is finely ground up resin. Its purpose is to thick up your resin so that it may be placed in vertical area's w/out running down or so fill in certain spots on your mold where it is difficult for the fiberglass to lay flat IE: sharp corners

  • Nice Job! How much you want for one?? PM me cause Im very interested! Thanks!

  • @PepakuraAirsoft Send me an Email at TimAllen27 @ hotmail. com

  • dude i cant wait to see it but ill email you for the price list

  • @trippsstar Right on just shoot me a line and Ill send you a price list

  • really nice im working on some goalie masks but i cant find gel coat

  • @trippsstar : Funny you should say that, thats one of my projects in the works is a custom goalie mask.

  • @timallen27 So how much for a helmet?

  • @Tcstewie: Email me at TimAllen27 @ hotmail . com and I can give you a full price option for everything I offer

  • @trippsstar Email me at TimAllen27 @ hotmail . com and I can give you a full price option for everything I offer

  • hey do i need to gel coat when using fiber glass or not

  • @zanruos88 - Typically yes if you want to

get all the nice details out of the mold.

  • Very cool

  • cool

  • you prefer epoxy resin compared to polyester.I am starting to use casting resin but not sure which one to try first. What the weight of the fiberglass Mat you used.

  • not entirely sure of the the weight but its very light.

  • I heard fiberglass is quite damn costly, How much did it cost?

  • Not really, the company I get my stuff from is pretty competitive in their prices.

  • Oh yea, I mixed up fiberglass and carbonfiber.. Carbonfiber is the really expensive stuff, But also really strong!

  • Yep, that's more for like car parts and Hockey goalie masks. This type of fiberglass resin has a little bit more flex to it.

  • oh u wasted my time i thought it was a halo 3 helmet could you plz make a halo 3 helmet

  • LoL, naw the Halo helmet as been beaten to death.

  • what is the gel coat made of and the resin coat

  • Gel coat is a 2 part (gel-coat) basically is the 1st layer that pulls all the details out of the mold. The resin is an a standard 2:1 epoxy resin

  • The gelcoat is called TC-1630 by a company in southern califonia, Check BJB enterprises

  • is it as powerfull as an iron helmet?

  • ? Meaning

  • Hope its not the NECA or one of those metal ones because they are garbage.

  • im thinking after my history scuplting project ill try to buy one of these helmets! (if my mother permits)

this is the same guy who emailed you the other week btw lmao

  • Right on, good luck on your project.

  • How do u get the helmets shape on the latex?

ps im looking for ways to do armors

  • Check out my molding video in my channel, shows the entire process to make a mold off of a helmet.

  • True but poly isnt as strong/flexible as this type of resin/fiberglass. Much more susceptible to cracking than this type of casting

  • Looks like you have some nice sturdy pulls.

Isnt it a little ott though? Using plastic, then mud and then fiberglassing the inside?

    Awesome work though! :3

  • ott?

  • OTT = Over the top.

I just think it's crazy that you have 3 different layers of material, for a pull. When a few coats of polyurethane resin would be fine.

  • For a design like that you want all the strength you can get. I think your getting a bit confused with materials too, polyurethane is a casting resin which is not used here, this is polyester resin that is made to be used with re-enforcement (fiberglass in this case). It's too brittle to be used alone and wouldn't survive the de-molding process. Also the only way I could see a polyurethane being of use would be in a roto-cast which IS a bit OTT for this.

  • Raw out of the mold castings, like the one in the video, are 150.00+s/h. I also sell finished ones for $200.00+s/h

  • how much would one of these cost?

  • can u make iron man helmet??

  • I am sure I could, but that helmets been done a thousand times over by various artists and is kinda boring.

  • sweet

  • 1.) the gelcoat is called TC-1630 from a company called BJB enterprises.

2.) All the resin mud is IS the resin mixed with a thickening agent. Typically ground up hardeded resin. I used a powder form call TALC which is added to the resin while mixing to fill in the hard edges and tight places where the fiberglass cant sit down flat

  • hey there!

    i have a few questions:

    1. for what use is the gelcoat?

    2. is the resin mud JUST resin aplyed on the dry gelcoat? and did you let this cure before adding fiberglass resin?

    =)

  • PS: the gelcoat is your 1st layer that pulls all the detail from inside your mold. Its not a support structure but just their to get all those fine details

  • thank you very much =)

  • at 2:50 do you or did you put something inside it like wax or vaseline so it wont stick to it?

  • O this mold I didn't. Since then this mold has died and I have redone a thinner mold of the same helmet so its able to flip back and feel off the helmet like a banana. As you can see in the video I had difficulty releasing the casting from the mold since the mold is so thick, I wasn't able to peel it back off the helmet. I would recommend using a release agent as this will help pulling your casting out and also the help your mold life last much longer

  • thank you for uploading those videos they really helped me much!

  • my pleasure

  • Last time i checked a spartan helmet was bronze

  • From the movie 300??? no they were fiberglass and rubber stunt ones made.

Back in the day, yes they were bronze and othe various metals but this specific helmet is from the movie 300, not the ancient times

  • otherwhize he would call it spartan helmet

    lawlz

  • dude calm ur shit its not like hes fucking rich and can buy a leap of bronze u duche

  • hello sir, im also making fiberglass helmets. (power ranger and the likes) and this is the first time to come across "resin mud"..

what actually is that and what kind benefits does your helmet get from it ? thank you :)

  • Resin mud is more or less just Talc powder (finely graded resin) mixed with the the resin. Its basically use to strengthen up area's where the fiberglass normally will not sit flat, creating weak spots or air bubbles IE: Deep corners, sharp edges and so forth

  • what about the crest

  • I made a crest "piece" for the leonidas helmet but not an actually moehawk for the helmet yet.

  • is it still on sale?

  • holy shit tahts insne!

  • True but to difficult to control the thickness with a rotocasting material. Fiberglass is lighter and stronger material

  • yeah I bought some smooth cast to try rotocasting this helmet I made. I think fiberglass is probably cheaper anyways. Thanks for the reply :D

  • you should just fill the mold with smooth cast 300 or 320 , no? would save alot less time. I'm just guessing though.

  • Nice work on the helmet man. I made one I'm working on the shield next.

  • The Fallen-Franz Ferdinand.

  • whats this song called? and thats a very nice helmet

  • sick!

i am making mine with pepakura... i only have one more piece to cut out...

  • Where did you find the file?

  • on the 405th forums

  • ok thanks

  • do you use any release agent on the silicone so it won't stick or the silicone keeps the epoxy resin from sticking.

  • No not release agent, it feels right off once its set up but I still recomment using a release agent. Will help the mold last longer

  • I want one too,but with the mowhawk,like Leonidas

  • hey just to make sure, can you wear these and they wont get screwed up and chemicals wont make u pass out right?

  • Once the resin or whatever product is used has hardened its always good to seal it as well.

  • My Social Studies teacher actually has a Spartan Helmet from 300 which is really cool but its deformed and he has to have a pen in between it.

  • yeh ive handled a few real ones from the movie myself

  • what brand and type of casting resins do you use? Are they polyurethanes?

You are using the same casting resin on the fiberglass (when you brush it on the fiberglass) and then just brushing it into place correct? how many layers of fiberglass are you useing?

  • ill buy one

  • i want one . do you shippe to mexico ?? and how much does it cost?

  • wow can you make me one!?! ill buy it

  • how do you turn not so great camera work into something watchable? make it a music video! nice work tim. someday i shall be bold enough to attempt sculpting a helmet.

  • Great Vid Tim, thanx for posting!

What was that Resin Mud?, Is it off the shelf product? why do you use that rather than glassing immediately over the GelCoat?

    Cheers

  • The "Mud" is a mix of resin and (Talc). A very very fine powder that acts a thickening agent for the 1st coat of resin. Purpose for using the mud is to lay it up in all the tough area's where the glass will not sit flush and create weak spots or air bubbles. Once you "mud" up the nessessary area's you just continue right over the mud with the same resin minus the talc, and then start larering in fiberglass before its hardens

  • how do people make moulds? out of helmets

  • search "helmet mold making" on youtube. Their is a video that shows step by step. The process is alot easier than you many think, just a matter of using the right products and molding materials.

  • Nice work, thanks for sharing!

  • Awesome work!

  • For a Raw casting like that, 158.00 shipped in US lower 48. I do make finished ones, but on a case by case basis

  • how much?
