It's been a while. Probably 1980 or so when I was working at a dude ranch on a cattle drive in northern New Mexico. Not much in the way of brush or trees to crouch behind where we were, either. I've urinated on the ground several times since then, but that wasn't the question.
It's been many, many years since I've shat on the ground. Although I do admit to peeing externally on quite a regular basis. Nothing like a good piss in the ivy late at night.

I've never "shat" on the ground, ever in my life. I've never gone camping for that reason.
