Just got this synth, yesterday, and gotta say it sounds amazing. There are some aspects of it that I don't care too much for, but overall great gear. This video does not do it justice in any way.

@salvadory What I didn't like was the midi implementation, it is very simple and sometimes the synth just hangs on a note when I use midi from a computer.

Another thing is some of the modulation makes noise, the overall noise level of the synth is also a bit high.

The thing that makes up for it is the tone. The tone is just extreme, very few synths can match it in its raw and ruff sound. It is like a tougher moog.

@astroboomboy cool thanks- i found the octave cat has the same problems with noise- its ballsy but does have too much noise as well- almost too punchy and noisy ...

Can you actually get decent tones on this that you hear on 70's recordings? People compare it to the minimoog but I havent actually heard anything that comes close

@cprostudio what moog would you get to replace this for the price? The little Phatty has a single DCO and too many buttons. Everything else they make new or used is either drastically more expensive or uses DCO's.

I think this is a vintage approach to get the moog filter sound. Not to mention all the CV capabilities.

sadly, the modern Moog and DSI synths suffer from the same issue.. they use chips to allow preset recall.

The Leipzig is all discrete analogue electronics so actually sounds more like an old Moog(prodigy etc) than the newer generation synths.

listen to them side by side and you WILL hear the difference.. if you can't then stick with virtuals

instead of spending a thousand box on that synth...save your money and buy a Dave Smith Prophet 8 next year lol

@JDVbeats the prophet has a totally different sound. i like this one much better, but its personal preference.
