I agree with ya TrekToons. Years 5 & 7,they had to change and fix a classic theme song that wasn't broken to begin with. I liked Sam Elliott in this but didn't like the fact that he was brought in to replace my favorite cast member Willy. The producers should have given Elliott a full season to see if his character could have been written into the show better and to see if Elliott could give the role a little more personality. Whenever he and Willy worked together on a show,it was always awesome
@mhagenhoff I agree that for a show that had very little character development of the major character to begin with, this season lacked a lot with the new characters that had taken over. I was always hoping that this season was perhaps a dream season and didn't really exist.
@wwrigle2 He wanted it to be a serious western but when they made it a saturday morning kids show he was disapointed the kid from fury bobby diamond became a lawyer
Nimoy's 1975 autobiography was titled 'I Am Not Spock' in which he wrote of wrestling with the indentification he had with the character and the impact it had on his career. He came to MI right after Star Trek ended and was on the show for 2 years. As a fan of both shows I remember how weird it was to see him sans Vulcan makeup but he did a good job replacing Martin Landau's character.
@ncasti They tried to push Peter Lupus out in favor of Sam Elliott in Season 5, but supposedly the fans revolted. Seems kind of funny to that that in those days, when the fans revolted, they actually had to write letters!
Sam Elliott portrayed the IMF's medical expert in the 1970-71 & the beginning of the 71-72 season, replacing Peter Lupus (who returned for the remaining episodes). Lesley Ann Warren replaced Barbara Bain from 1969-71 & Lynda Day George took over for 71-73.
Oh, I agree with that, but as an actor, I still think he got treated unfairly in the early 70's. I am glad though that he finally made his peace with it.
but he became type-casted because he did Spock perfectly you actually didn't believe he was acting but that he was Spock can't say the same about Quinto
@nightman1963a I think he was lucky. Star Trek 1st than get this cool job on Mission Impossible. That's 2 very memorable series. Not to mention his cool job narrarating In Search Of. But personally I liked Landeau/Bain better than Nimoy w/ revolving door in S4 & the ladies that followed. Funny. Leslie is Miss Scarlett from Clue.
Haha reminds me of when I was in elementary school, and we did mission impossible for a week in gym class, the whole gym was filled with gymnastic stuff and mats... good times good times!
These shows had better openings than the actual story. The show would start and it would drag through, you'd spot the scenes you saw in the opening, where they were always so much more interesting. It's like watching TV with the sound off, what you imagine them saying is usually much better than the script.
Greg Morris was my hero when I was a kid. The main reason I got into electronics, ham radio and computers! Unreal the effects this show had in my life. Go IMF!
For some reason someone marked you as spam. I often don't understand people's reactions to comments, it's like they're blindfolded when they're giving thumbs down and marks.
Sam Elliot looked young as hell on this show. This must have been one of the first things he did in his career. Glad to see he became a star in own right later on.
I finally got to hear the later version of the original M:I theme on here in the clear! Thanx a lot for this version! Btw, do you have a copy of the end credits from this season? Also, sometimes this season uses the original 1960s variation on this season's opening credits as well. Sam Elliot replaces Peter Lupus when Lupus is not present in an ep.
All of the original "mission" shows ruled!

I thought that Leonard Nemoy was the
best in both series
MrJonathansmooth 2 years ago 3
I thought Leonard Nimoy was good for this series. It's too bad no one really gave him a brake after Star Trek ended.
He's a good actor, but because of Star Trek, which I love, he got typed-casted in the 70's and it really was unfair.
nightman1963a 2 years ago 9
You might forget that Leonard Nimoy became a very good director. Not just more Star Trek movies, but also the highly successful Three Men And A Baby.

@nightman1963a stfu homo. he had a good run in this series and another one.season 4 I think.
Star trek wasn't a big hit at the time , it became a cult following that grew over time.
so your whole comments are just fucked and incorrect.

The classic lineup was sorley lacking from M:I for three seasons, until they all cmae back in 1972, the classic line up is as follows:
Peter Graves as Jim Phelps
Greg Morris as Barney Collier
Barbara Bain as Cinnamon Carter
Martin Landau as Rollin Hand
and Peter Lupis as Willy Armitage.
Doug4422 3 years ago
Uh, no, sorry. Bain and Landau left in the late 60s and did not return in 1972.
