The world is a bigger place than America. In England, 'Savior' is spelled Saviour, just like 'color' is spelled colour. If you search the concordance section of the KJV you'll find no listing for "savior", because in the KJV it is spelled 'Saviour'. But most of America likes to hear it, not read it, and certainly not read it in a language that's hard to understand, like....English. :-p

There very much is a "u" in Saviour, for the English speaking world, outside of the US. So the spelling is not wrong. But, I do agree with you splendid song.
