  • I was Imprisoned for killing. Asynthesizer was all i was given for one month and i hade to make two albums while i was in prison, world be grateful. Smaka fängelset

  • I want to believe, that when i die, this song will be playing...

  • I want to die while listening to this song...

  • IT'S A PROOF OF HOW DARK AND MYSTICIST CAN BE THE NORWEGIAN FOLKLORE

  • This album seems New Age's Genre !!! It's Beautiful!!

  • IT TOUCHES MY SOUL

  • IT TOUCHES MY SOUL

  • HOW do you like the Prison?

  • I LOVE BURZUM¡¡¡¡

  • Wonderful song. It is a genuine masterpeice. All good wishes to Norway. .

  • quite honestly i usually don't like music that is made with a synthesizer but considering that this song shows a very musically talented mind at work, and also he was in prison and all they'd let him have was a synthesizer and a computer i not only enjoy this but respect it.

  • 1:17 its fucking perfect

  • god, this is shit

  • @potwu71 what is your problem?

  • @potwu71 who is god?

  • Who is Wuotan?

  • @KreationMalevola Odhinn

  • Wuotan is Odin in german mithology.

  • @ravenswood1104 that is actually very interesting

    no sarcasm intended

  • wow, a sacraficial altar in the shadowy woods. How original. The soft elavator/ doctors office music is nice though.

  • What a great song just not the environment is dark ambient folk checate in wikimierda there is all about the events of the records made

  • SO beautiful forwards and in reverse. Simply genius. Hands down.

  • I'm surprised that beauty like this can come out of such a terrible thing like prison.

  • @happyman3196 It's just that the artist's mind has nothing to do with reality

  • @happyman3196 But was a "norway's prision"

  • @happyman3196 it was a norwegian prison, really not that terrible, I mean, they let him record a dang album in there. Also, this song is actually pretty shitty, real talk

  • @walkitabouter is a homo

  • @happyman3196 Maybe its Because of the Hope for freedom in the Prison.

  • @happyman3196 have you even seen how norway prisions are?

  • @aconseporlamuerte You are still trapped in a place with murderers, thieves, rapist, and child molesters. That sounds like a terrible place to be.

  • @happyman3196 prision is in mind

  • @happyman3196 Norwegian prisons are like 5 star hotels anyway.

  • @Zenthracks i was about to say the same thing haha. wtf kind of "maximum security prison" allows its prisoners access to computers and synthesizers

  • @Zenthracks I don't know about that, but certainly not the worst there is :-p

  • yes! I had this song on a mixtape and I didnt know the name of it. I thank the lovely lady who told me the name :3 This song is so amazingly epic! high five for epic music :D

  • boring

  • @mariusz82 faggot detected

  • @UnderTorture

yes , you find your second nature, now you are an idiot and fagot

  • If you don't have already BURZUM's albums buy the remastered versions!Let's keep Varg active!Let's help him to create some things like this, like Tomhet, like Dunkelheit,Like Jesus Tod...like all! When I listen to this I forget my sadness,my happiness...like I'm in empty world but beautiful! This peaces will live forever...these thinks don't die!And BURZUM's music is forever in my home,in my life,in my mind,in my thoughs,in my soul,in my heart!Let's buy these thinks!

  • @Gebrechlichkeit1 I think Burzum has sold by the millions already. Sure Varg is an artist to be taken seriously but one can wonder is he just doing it for the money.

  • @ilupir77 I bought this album yesterday...what a cover art...I just don't know what I have to say!

  • @ilupir77 I don't know if he sold millions. That's a lot. Thousands for sure... but millions? Hard to believe. Either way, this man is a genius and I will be a fan until my last breathe.

  • @TheGreyHeaven Ineed... millons is something for bands like Iron Maiden.

  • (insert cool transcendental philosophical point here) go varg!

  • the 2 albums realesed while in prison has the best music, and i point out that he used ONLY synthesizer since he hadnt access to bass or guitars. peace to varg for this track

  • Very nice music. If you are further interested in nordic culture and art, be sure to check out my channel.

  • lost in the everlasting lifetime of the truth

  • The comment above by CommieComrade179 pretty much sums up what I feel about this piece by Varg.

  • Der Tod Wotans what does it mean? Someone?

  • @masterblaster848

It means ''The Death of Wotan'' in German.

  • a friend of myne introduced me to Burzum's bm songs.. didnt like them at first.. I still dont like them.. another friend of myne came one night home for a drink and downloaded this song somewhere from the internet - first I thought it was all becouse we got drunk, but the next day I listened it again, nevertheless it was a beautifull sunny day - now 5 years later, the winter is coming again, I got all Vikernes's cd's and I'm still confused how this is made by a man..

  • Golliwogg APPROVES of this song.

  • im not joking i actually gor high from this

  • HAIL VARG

  • @weedninja42069 hail raad

  • haha reminds me of Final Fantasy, like in one of those dark caves. Good shit

  • a taste of afterlife's peace..

  • @stevenofbodom2

Man, that's the perfect description of this song...

This song should be playin when you are dying :D

  • Probably the best song of the album......

  • Varg is a brilliant genius.

  • one of the best metal artists of all time, too bad he is known only to be an assassin

  • the sound at 1:17 is just beautiful, it really is evocative of a wave of shock and sadness passing through whoever it is seeing Odin die

  • Wow......just wow......BEAUTIFUL!!!!

  • one of the best ambient songs ever............

  • i used to read Lovecraft novels while listening to Hlidskjalf album, and it fit pretty well. Der Tod Wuotans still reminds me of Innsmouth - despite the "positive cargo" of this track - back then, it wasa perfectly fitting contrast to the grim events of the story about that town

  • i wanna know what he used for that brass section

  • i don't have the words to tell what i fell about this wonderfull music it's just toooooo dark and ambiental and relaxing and too good i just love it.

  • i love this song driving through the woods in the middle of the night, epic, check out my song oscullum inflame hails!

  • whats the story behind this song? I stumbled upon it while i was looking for musicals oddly enough, and i'm loving it.

  • @AmmonSnoopy22

its the death of woutan!!!! derrr!!!!

  • This is so beautiful...so...relaxing...I want to wander around in the woods at night listening to this...while the moon is shining bright...the weather cold...the wolves howling...I just...want to wander off into the woods...for eternity...

  • Beaultiful!

  • heres a question for alot of the trend hoppers.if this wasnt Burzum would you be listening to it or would you have said its shit ?

  • @louiscfc93 Music is music...no matter who wrote it...

  • @KSCO7 that was the point i was making

  • @KSCO7

yeah as long as it was a human who mad the music and not a fucking computer

  • @louiscfc93

Actually that's a pretty good question.

First of all, I would like to make it clear I am trying to speak solely for myself and my views may not represent those of other users.

Second, I came to this song because of the artist. If it was made by another, less popular musician, its very possible that I wouldn't have ever heard about it.

Now, the fact it was made by Varg may influence my views on the song, however, I am inclined to believe I would still like it despite who made it.

  • @louiscfc93 I would listen to this, because it's beautiful, stunning, great music. I don't care who judges me by it. I like the music I like, and nobody can change that. And btw, I think I'm having a raging internet battle with you on Bathory's Massacre.. I'm glad you listen to other good music. I'm not so glad what you think of America, but we'll save that for the Bathory video.

  • @louiscfc93

    Dunno. I'd still hit it.

  • @hackforloser The question was aimed at the people who saw the new Burzum album or read Vargs wiki and decided to jump on the wagon

  • Thumbs up for the fusion of Black Metal and Dark Ambient/Ambient:

    BURZUM

  • This particular Burzum song sounds like one of those instrumental songs that were featured on those "Pure Moods" compilation CD's that came out some years back. This song is slow and haunting but I do enjoy listening to it. I wonder if that flute like sound is supposed to be the flute-like instruments that are played in Norweigan folk music. Varg Vikernes is Norweigan after all.

  • This influenced Melodic and depressive and symphonic metal

  • This is what a funeral sounds like in slow motion when its raining at night

  • Bash the Fash?!?

  • thank u Burzum for creating this and helping to make the world better. without this musik the quality of life would go down.

  • @reptilianism420 I didn't Know sleestaks where down with the Reefer? I've been searchin' for a Ice~Breaker with my Lizard peeps, next Door?

  • this song reminds me of colorful meadows somewhere far away from humanity

  • Whenever I listen to this, I escape reality. I'm in the middle of a Norwegian forest just after a snowfall, when the snow is still fresh, and just before sunrise, so everything is tinted a shade of blue. Or, I'm on a New England beach, standing on the sandy dunes with patches of grass overlooking the beach, also just before sunrise where everything is blue, and the wind blows softly. It literally brings me to tears.

  • @CommieComrade179 You soft, feminine bitch! LOL!!!

  • @CommieComrade179 please tell me youre a chick or else i would have to inform you that you are bitch and i challenge you to a duel to the death, giving you an honor to train under Odin in Valhalla, or perhaps me, if i have underestimated you.

  • No shit, I am crying.

  • i love this musik! so fvkcing awsome! this more album being more darkwave/dark ambient style makes me like it when im drawing too! thanks BURZUM!

  • It sounds very classical to me... It puts me back to my small hours in front of the PC (the year 2002) listening to it and sometimes writing and thinking of a friend I had lost... And he had lost me too... this is one of Burzum's more introspective and meaningful songs recorded ever...

  • I don't understand psychology if one is to compose such utter brilliance. Inhuman i say.

  • Truly a BM Gem!

  • Look on my page :D I made a philosofem reminescent song. But hail is the dubes word to use for varg. He's just some ambitious norwegian guy XD

  • Comment removed

  • this whole album was recorded in jail. creepy and so was the one before this now rumor has it on wikipedia that 2 albums will release in march 2011

  • Comment removed

  • @laladoodieincarnate TOMORROW!! XD

  • @laladoodieincarnate It's not any scary about Norwegian prisons, I can tell you that.

  • @Clerks0 creepy and scary are 2 different things. i said it was creepy not scary. anyway im anticipating the new album this month along with wintersuns time amon amarths surtur rising and gorgoroths rerecording of under the sign of hell with their new rumored album this yr.

  • How can you listen to music by Varg Vikernes ??? fuckin sicko

  • @somehow888 Do you always answer your own questions?

  • @killgreed WHAT THE FUCK ?? do you seriously thin that what he did was right ?

  • @somehow888 yes

  • @somehow888

We all do mistakes, my friend.

And this one was his biggest.

  • @somehow888

Liking a band doesn't always mean agreeing with the person behind the music. I dislike varg as a person, but he is very eloquent, smart, and makes amazing music. Why are you on this page if you don't like the music?

  • @metalheaddrummer101 I was on this page because I'm interested in every genre of music and I just wanted to learn more about Black Metal :) And I didn't say that I dont like the music I just dislike varg

  • @somehow888 ah yes. Well same goes with me. I love his music, but I don't really like him at all. Good of you to at least listen to it

  • @metalheaddrummer101 You know I'm not the person that says " Death Metal or Blues sucks" without even listening to it .. and yeah this dude has got talent so no matter what you got to respect that

  • @somehow888 I dunno... I kinda like the guy if I'm honest. Love the music and Varg seems highly intelligent and honest, maybe slightly psychopathic but that adds to the character.

  • @TimboooJ

Also a puritanian racist, but I guess flaws are what make us love people?

  • @TimboooJ Varg? Honest? Bwuahahaha! Musical genious yes, honest no.

  • a lot of you people really seem to enjoy Burzum. How many have actually bought an album to support the guy? I won't be surprised if majority just download it. Fuckers.

  • @maziku If I could actually buy it in my country believe me I would buy this and Philosophem. I think the problem is this album is only found in part of Europe, and I live in Colombia xD

  • @maziku There are no stores to buy it at where i live i tried to order this album from europe and it failed to ship :(

  • @maziku Can I buy BURZUM's album when I don't have money to go out with friends and I wear clothes that I wear from two or three years? Am I fucker?

  • @Gebrechlichkeit1 who's problem is that? certainly not mine good friend.

  • Without words. You can feel this song, almost touching it. It's pure "magick"

  • Varg's ambient shit cannot be compaired to no other..it's simply just the best

  • 6 people that watched this video are black.

  • According to Varg...

"Each album, he claims, was designed as a kind of "spell" in itself, with each beginning song intending to make the listener more susceptible to "magick", the following songs to inspire a "trance-like state of mind", and the last song to carry the listener into a "world of fantasy" (dreams, for the listener would fall asleep—Burzum was supposed to have been evening music)."

  • there is a reason that out of 265 people that this song only has 5 dislikes...because obviously those 5 people dont understand that burzum is a musical genious and deserves to be remembered for all time !!! Hail Varg!

  • @xXDamneDXx1 no they disliked it because he killed someone... entertainment is cool but that shit just goes too far

  • @somehow888 yeah that is true but he only killed someone because he tried to kill him first...and either way thats irrelevant when it comes to the music...

  • yes this song its magic...may it remembers the presence of the ALLFATHER ODIN...

  • this is something out from this world

  • no word can describe how awesome and epic this song is... i could listen to it for eternity, LONG LIVE VARG!

  • Wotan should be an inspiration.. for everyone

  • just shut up and listen to it kid

  • prison time must have been great inspiration

  • Great song

  • this is ..IDM neoclassical, ambient Psychedelic for me.. those atmoshere after the royalti intro is really uplifting .. Nice to trip with Acid

  • @kitaristi1 your an idiot

  • @mynameisjames19

No man u are an idiot , i totally forgot what I've written, assholes like u remind me that :D.. U can notice probably when i said .. " FOR ME " u cant set borders to music man.. each one of us sees the music differently, yea they call it black metal ambient ,, okej fuck it, i listen to it differently , u probably don't know what is true idm music urself, , what varg did in two first songs remindes me IDM atmospheres.. So don't stick on my balls..

  • Nice ambient!

  • Burzum goes beyond Black Metal for how awesome it is. its just epic

  • this music takes my mind away to places where time and space are no concept

  • @GWARLOVER69

    Purgatory?

  • @GWARLOVER69 I too man... i too.

  • not as shitty as Dauði Baldrs

  • epic

  • very sweet song...incredible..

  • one of the best dark ambient songs ever composed. i remember when teenager i bought a burzum shirt with the cover of this album. only years later i found out this was not a black metal album, but instead would be to me a gate opening to the universe of darkwave/dark ambient music. this song in particular means a lot to me, not only dark and beautiful but truly eternal. hail!

  • @ceerberos This is like depressive black metal, like inspired it

  • @KadeshLeMort well, i´ll don´t considered this even metal, but i understand what you mean :) respect!

  • @ceerberos Hey man, any reccomendations you can make for more dark ambiant music? Preferably some dark/black metal influences such as this recording :) Thanks!!

  • @muffigw sure, there are many good dark ambient/darkwave albums out there: i recommend the first 3 albums of mortiis; the first 3 albums of arcana; the first 4/5 albums of raison d etre; desiderii marginis - Songs over Ruins /& the album Seven Sorrows; Apoptose - Nordland; and more recently from 2010 a masterpiece of the genre: Dahlia´s Tear - under seven skies, absolute masterpiece. there are many more records out there who deserves credit but with those above you can get some good pointers :)

  • @ceerberos Hail to you bretherin!

  • i always listen to this song in winter - in the morning, where its in 7 o clock still dark and yet the snow on the ground shines so strong ... beautiful. its creating a wonderful atmosphere, so warm and yet so cold.

    best song!

  • @Terneyah i'll try :) but i think before sleeping it will be better...7 o clock is too early for me

  • el mejor tema de burzum desde luego

  • This could be a king's FIeld song

  • @MrILOVEBEINGPURPLE Seeing how thats my favorite rpg series in existence, I totally agree. I vouch for this to be in KF 5.

  • @SilkyMuggs King's Field V would be the greatest thing, if it came out. I can only hope. :)

  • mhm ^^ (y)

  • In my opinion, his best works are Dauði baldrs and Hlidskjálf, both done in prison. A rehabilitation center, well this music rehabilitates me..in every sense of the word.

  • I'm hypnotized

  • its so relaxing, varg is a genius in music, i dont give a shit about what he did and whether its wrong or right

  • Burzum is not folk metal. Burzum is black metal and dark ambient.

  • @killeverybody666 To be more specific with genres, I would say Burzum is ambient, not dark ambient :D Dark ambient is like Lustmord etc.(low frequences, depressive noises and absolute creepiness). Burzum is more softer and melodic, which clears the dark elements away that Lustmord has. I recommend Lustmord, if you want some serious dark ambient :D

  • The best song of Hlidskjálf

  • Comment removed

  • very magic moment

  • I just got so relaxed, I forgot it was Varg...(hee). Pure genius...hugz, Mr. V! Thanks for the vid, DP...
