I love this! Quick question, how do you get your oil paint to spread so far? Whenever I do it the tooth of the canvas just stops it. Is it because this canvas isn't stretched?

Hi! I love to paint using palette knives... But in all the videos I see, all you artists canaletto one bit of paint go spoo far on a canvas compared to me. Is that because of a different canvas you are using or are you diluting your paint?
i just uploaded a video of an oil painting that took me 5 months to finish.
i would like to get some feedback on it. so if everyone that reads this could check it out and let me know what you think it would help me out! the video is called -- monumental oil painting- from start to finish. thanks everyone!
I love how the uninitiated think that this guy "stole" this technique from some other painter. (Afremov?-whoever) It's a very common European technique of painting that has been popular since at least the very early1950's, so no, it's nothing "new" or anything some contemporary painter has "invented" LOL
hey have you ever got one of those giant 10 foot canvas sheets from the hardware store and painted on that? At the Home Depot you can get a pack of 2 for only 10 bucks! That's two 10x10 canvas' ....prime with a bucket of gesso and your good to go!
Nice. Though, you should check out Leonid Afremov. His paintings and techniques are a match. I don't know whether you borrowed his technique, and or style but they seem the same to me.
Ever heard of an artist named Matisse? Pallet knifes were being used before any of our Parents were born. I enjoy seeing this style. especially a talented "colorist". Bravo!
Hey, that is right. I believe Monet also used palette knives. I'm not sure about Manet, though. However, notice how the techniques are different. Not the fact that this artist is using a palette knife, but how he applies the paint to the canvas. The colour palette is different too.
holy shit how the fuck...i still dont get how to do this and my project is due by wednesday...........
