Such a powerful voice! We had lots of records (LPs) by Vic Damone, he was my parents' favorite singer, esp. my eldest brod Willy, whose voice turned out like Mario Lanza!
Una de las canciones emocionales y Vic Damone es de la mejor cantante de todos los tiempos. Cada vez que la escucho, tengo este sentimiento no puedo expresar .... pero es maravilloso! Gracias por el puesto.
@TheAmenyxify the rubbish that music has now is totally crapp, its all gone these were the real chanters brilliant singers vic damone al martino matt monroe great
got here from wikipedia, List of number-one hits (United States)
started from 1940, working my way forward. i'm up to 1949. :)
anyway this is a decently executed song, but what a pathetic message. sounds like he got used by some girl as a doormat, and now he's asking for more, if she is ever so inclined in the future! smh
The song is an American version of the famous Italian song 'Mattinata' written by Ruggero Leoncavallo in the beginning of 20th century. Google 'Rick Busciglio' for more swing/pop info
Great record and one of Damone's finest efforts. Sometimes Vic seems to almost fall asleep on songs, but this is superb, as he demonstrates his great range and power.
@nancyfloressantos Actually, Nancy, there were numerous versions of this song when it was popular. Vic Damone's version was the most popular out all the other recordings on the charts at the time and the only one that reached #1 and stayed there for four weeks.
@ElCriticon82 Just voted your comment "up." Yes, Damone's is the most appropriate English version of the song with his truly bel canto interpretation and he does sing some of the original Italian lyrics. His Italian heritage shines through this song.
The best version by far

I love Tony Martin, and the young Frank Sinatra, but always hold a special place for Vic Damone who has such a beautiful sound.

A 1949 hit. Original record.

@nancyfloressantos This is not the original 1949 recording, unfortunately. The original did not have background vocals at the beginning.

@MrMemories What I mean is.... it is Vic Damone who originally recorded this song in 1949?
