Get some Storm Kickin Minnows from the local Bass Pro. Ive caught pike EVERY SINGLE TIME Ive used them. Use some nice twitches and movements when reeling them in.
@musthavepeppers get some blade runners or sonar blades, It's getting late in the season now but I've been catching them on lipless cranks. It all really depends of what types of waters your fishing in.
I'd prefer u just take a picture or video of the fish rather than mount it or eat it.
That fish didnt get big for nothing ya kno? let it continue to grow and give other anglers a chance to fight it like you did. I practice c&r all the time. The only time I take them home is if the season is right and/or they're abundant like panfish
@Northernsharpshooter not necessarily, theres lots of other species to eat.. ok theyre only shitty when they invade muskie waters and kill off that population.. other than that.. good fightin fish to catch, and not bad to eat
@tomboehmpdot yes very true I am going up to Timmins Ontario on a lake called Horwood lake and it is a great walleye and Northern Pike lake, the only part I don't like is the 10 hour drive
@Northernsharpshooter northern Ontario is awesome for fishing.. with over 250,000 lakes to choose from its always a good time haha. im going up to Black Sturgeon Lake just south of Lake Nipigon but ill endure the 15hr drive for the fish
@tomboehmpdot nice I have never fished it but I know a few guys that have they said good things about, I myself just got back last night from fishing a week in Horwood lake outside of timmins Ontario, AMAZING lake for walleye and northerns.
You know what you said is true and I would love to take a camper one year and just drive and stop and all those smaller iscolated lakes that are unnamed because I bet they would be great fishing
i am going to fish on the broads this yeah i belive its spelt like that but am not sure :) ive really been in to fishing pike this past year and have caught 17 jack pike but not a single pike, enyway im going on hoilday to the broads we have one of the big pads there (well rented) and am going for a biggen :P eny tips?
hehe you dont kill large pike, Nobs who used to kill them are even learning that they must be in the water systems, these pike eat dead and diseased fish as well as keep the small pike populations down. Long live the pike!.. Ok thats my two pennies worth, nice video by the way and nice fish.
Either mount it or let him go to get bigger. That's the problem you people wanna eat everything you catch. Eat all the fish today no fish to catch tomorrow
It better to take a picture then to mount the fish. There no different in eating the pike than it is to mount it. So I didn't get why you made that comment either mount its but not eat it.
@Fishermanoftheyear78 clearly not always the case, i live on the river thames i went bass fishing and caught 6 bass and took them all home to eat only eat 3 for my family to go around, then next day i went bass fishing with my mate and we caught another 8 between us...
Those guys are from the Kent (UK) where Catch and Release is virtually universal.
All of the fish would certainly have been returned unharmed. Anyone killing pike of that size (and importance to the environment) would get their heads kicked in ...
@Fishermanoftheyear78 Well, i usually eat pike, or kill them, but dont think im a bad person because i respect all living things, its just that pike were introduced by someone stocking them in our lake, and they started to eat every little fish they could find, and then all the bass, trout, and pickerel were basically gone. So i figure that if we started to get rid of the pike since we catch them like sunfish, we coudl get some more fish back. Kill 1 save a thousand?
the eye on ya your watching your float and lookin at d camera at the same time the smell of last week off ya ya scruff state of yer pike

i'm not saying i keep them. i try to release all big fish that i catch.
SaginawRiverFishing 2 years ago
First of all bitten are not a good fish to eat and it's called catch and release on fish you won't mount.

mount?
mounting is just as good as eating it. You still kill the fish regardless.
unless you mean when people make a copy with artificial stuff.
