Mainly due to not having met canonically. Camille knew Char as Quattro (before Char went back to creating Neo-Zeon and turning his original idea to a militant one), Haman and Amuro knew Char for a while.
Maybe because there is no real reason thus far why Char wasn't around while Judau was winning hearts but Kou and his gang were specifically set in a place where they wouldn't meet any of the faction bigwigs.
They were stationed in a secret MS testing facility. Their closest connection to the bigwigs were in the form of Delaz (supposedly secretly setting up the Federation for Haman's return) and Bask Om's short appearance.
Don't forget that Kou and gang were declared traitors by the Federation.
hmm was this in Alpha 2? or the whole Alpha series? cause the story they put Kou and the rest through seems so cool, but hey thats SRW for ya awesome to the point of exceeding awesome
The reason they didn't use the GP-01 is that it fails at everything. Kou actually first shows up in the GP-03 Stamen, the GP-01 has no default pilot. As for the GP-03 Orchis I suppose because the GP-02 needs a good melee pilot and Kou has some great melee spirits like Iron Wall and a discount Sure Hit.

Yeah, but Char refers to Judau by name when they fight. Plus Seabrook calls him Quattro when they fight. Don't know why Kou didn't get anything.
