  • nice

  • Do you have a tab file of this song?

  • Yeeeeeahh!

  • Excellent! Short and sweet.

  • Brilliantly played, but I still think this tune lends its itself to the Fender Strat.

  • Absolute favourite! Excellent cover!

  • Nice playing.

  • thats very nice, i want also to buy a tennessee rose, are you happy with this guitar, can you tell me which backing tracks are you using ? thanks 5 **************

  • Thanks 1wieshoefer1, yes, the Tennessee Rose is great. This is a pre-Fender from 2002 with read f-holes - not sure what the new ones are like - supposed to be better made - but this is great to play. Backing tracks from various guitar magazines - send me your email and I can send them to you.

  • Are the f-holes simulated??

  • No - this of has real f holes, which I think look better, but some say they cause feedback problems

  • very good ;)

  • Awesome!

  • Nice!

  • Nice job man....;)

  • Very Good Man !!! Keep on rockin XD

  • this is great, nice work.

  • Got the tabs for this but and am trying to learn it but I think you have a differant way of playing that actually sounds and looks better than my tabs, how'd you learn to play it.

  • Nicely done!

  • is that the 62 tennessee rose model with the fake f holes? i want one of those more than life itself.

nice playing by the way, nailed it.

  • Thanks. This one actually has real F-holes, it's a pre-Fender. The new ones have simulated.

  • nice vid :D

  • mistrz;d

  • THATS PERFECT!

  • holy shit, just noticed your bitching guitar! you'd you mug to get that?

  • great playin'!really nice....

  • Very good!

  • cool

  • hey dude are you playing with a back track? can you send it me or tell where can i get it! thanks! good job

  • send me yr email and i'll send to you

  • Can i get it to?

  • Great! - I wish I could play like that! - Thanks!

  • Gratulálok!

Jól játszol, jó a sound & van benne 'fíling'

    Csak így tovább

  • Nice...you make that look easy. Where'd you get the backing track?

  • How do you get the surf sound/effect with the amp?

  • Thanks - this is played straight through Garageband on a Mac - no amp. The guitar tone setting is "New Nashville" ie pretty clean with reverb, and I added a bit of extra distortion and reverb on top. On an ordinary amp you just want it pretty clean with lots of reverb or slapback echo.

  • Oh! yeah! great movie, great music and great guitar player with a great gretsch sound. Five!

  • Thanks very much habinson - I love your Sleepwalk too

  • nice nice :)

  • Man, this is awesome. Love the tone.

I want one of those beautiful things so bad right now.

  • Thanks very much JoobaHooba. The answer to your problem is easy - you've just got to go and buy one.

  • Sulf rider turkish- watch?v=k0ekfPF4GL0

  • WOW!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Very nice tone. I was immediately carried away right into the typical Tarantino's atmosphere.

    Renaud

  • Thanks guitarztrainee - have you posted something?

  • Not yet. I have changed from band so many times... As soon as I have new video stuff I will keep you posted.

  • genial!! tro genial!! ça donne envie de la jouer!! aurai tu ou pourrai tu me dire ou trouver la partition?? merci et encore bravo!

  • nicely done, love the guitar, but let that kid out of the picture dude ..... hehehe

  • Enjoyed it. I was a bit dubious at first about a Gretsch for surf, but they're definitely hard to beat for twang. Looked like you were playing on just the bridge pickup, but still a great, full sound and just enough 'verb (more never hurts though!). Nice technique, too.

  • put up ur video buddy

  • no difference to the original, great

  • Very nice recording, that sounds very clear indeed. Well played.

  • That was GREAT! Perfect rendition.

  • awesome.

  • can you teach it

  • just watch closely!

  • salut! je te remercie pour la tablature c super!! a trs bientot! vincent (billhaley)

  • Nice one bro. Great stuff.

  • hey men do you have a tab for this song? a midi tab for guitar pro? thakns for answer! good version!

  • Man that was awesome. I'd love to see some tabs for the part between 00:44-00:57

  • Great job...where did you get the backing track?

  • Thanks - the backing track is from Total Guitar magazine. If you send me your email address I can send it to you.

  • bravo!!!!!

  • Very good use of a classic guitar. Nice one.

  • Nice playing, what model Gretsch do you have there?

  • Thanks, it's a Tennessee Rose 6119, pre-Fender 2002, real f-holes

  • Does it have the Hilotron or Filteron pickups?

I'm thinking of getting one, how is the action in terms of being low & no buzzes?

  • This one has TV Jones pick-up upgrade - recommended. The action and playability are superb. There is a question about the f-holes - the real ones sometimes have problems with feedback, I haven't played one of the newer models which have simulated f-holes. In short - get one, they are great.

  • I have TV-Jones in my Tennessee Rose as well. A MAJOR improvement! I've never had a problem with feedback on mine though. Nice job!

  • GOOD JOB MEN!!!!

  • *****

    superb...five stars!!!!!

  • Too much reverb???? Never!!! This is surf music. Good job.

  • It could have more reverb, and still being great!

  • 00:54 just sounds soo great... like early Beatles or Stones

  • too much reverb

  • u never have too much reverb for SURF dude!

  • Excellent!!

Beautiful child by the way :D

  • Awesome Gretsch guitar.

  • Nice playing, but when I searched for the tab I only got one version tabbed by "Siegfried" which is different in some parts on how you play it, and that's the only tab I can find. Did you by any chance change it around, could you share what you changed if you did :)

  • Thanks TurboRush,

I think I used Siegfried's tab, but there are a few small changes - accidental rather than deliberate. It's more Lively Ones than The Ventures, but a bit different from both.

  • great video and nice house!

  • nice style!!

  • this song is so relaxing

  • dude thats awsome.how long have u been practicing that song to get it that good?

  • Thanks very much sk8terboy. It's a pretty easy tune to play - it just sounds great

  • sounds just like the song bro

  • awesome, guy :)

    really great!

  • cool nice guitar i've got the same!

  • A Gretsch Tennessee Rose - utterly IT!

  • Hey, do you guys know "hawaii 5-0" chords. I have been watching the Surfaris playing that song, but I am not too sure the rythm chords. The clip is a bit blury, so i am not too sure about the chords, I think there is a change of key/chord progression. If anyone knows, please let me know. Thank you.

  • This is awesome.. Can i join you... I use my Fender strat, you use what ever ....lol

  • Thanks PlasticC4 - be my guest

  • Cool

  • jo thats great

  • that's great!!

  • nice playing and guitar, and of course, nice song.

I haven't seen that fingering before- possibly have a tab or sheet music?

  • Thanks - google "tab lively ones" and you'll get one from Fretplay or similar

  • Enjoyed it.

  • Loved it. Good job.

    M7

  • nice1 barvo

  • Amazing guitar! Have to have one sometime!! What kind of amp are you using?? The first 12 sec sounds alittle Beatleish. Really cool.

  • No amp - played straight through Garageband on a Mac

    Cheers

  • Cool. I use Garageband too. Did you use any of the preset-guitar modelling that garageband has, In that case which one?

  • I think it was New Nashville with a bit of extra distortion and reverb.

  • Great job! I can hardly wait to get a Gretsch.

  • wish my right hand was so steady!

  • i think we should be leaving now.

  • right on bro, ventures kick ass and so does pulp fiction.. you do both justice.

  • The Ventures covered the tune, but the Lively Ones did the original, which is superior (in my humble opinion). Nice job on the Tennessee Rose. This appears to be the model with the painted F-holes.

  • I'm pretty sure The Ventures wrote it and called it Spudnik, but then the Lively Ones covered it and I agree it's a better version. In fact this Tennessee Rose has real F-holes, though earlier and later ones both have simulated ones.

  • You have it backwards. Nokie Edwards of The Ventures wrote the song. The Ventures recorded "the original" called "Spudnik" in 1963 on their 7th album, "Mashed Potatoes & Gravy". The Lively Ones "appropriated" the tune & called it Surf Rider, later in 1963.

  • i agree, the ventures do kick ass and so does pulp fiction, but the surf rider from pulp fiction is played by the lively ones. ventures>lively ones.

  • congrats.great!

  • Sounds nice but use both picups.

  • Muito bom

  • is it tabbed?

  • yes - google surf rider tab and you'll get it on fret play or similar

    cheers

  • Nice
