Ok no more comments on why you told her to shift in to 1st... But why the sudden rush to shift out of first when parking? I leave my car in first even when its parked. Always good practice for if parked on a hill and there is a problem with the hand brake.

Maybe its a "bad" habbit of mine, but I always start and kill the engine of a car / bike with the clutch down / pulled...

I'm 16. First car is a 98 Prelude SE VTEC 5 speed. Fun to drive and very easy for me, but I've been driving stick since I was 14 and car I drove when I was 15 was a 5 speed Saturn Ion. I hate automatic!

Jeez, she did very well for her first time. I remember when i first drove stick on a 91 Geo, that was a bad day. I killed it three times and killed it once trying to shift into second and by the time i got the shifting down, the car still had a horrible death rattle between shifts.

I downshift into 1st all the time in my work van...It will crunch the gearbox to shit if your going over like 5mph lol..I do it at 20mph...But you really have to force it in there! hahaha!

I do it cause I want to fuck the van up, It's so uncormfortable, and when they break down, we get rentals...so I want a rental (car)

Yeah great vid, but i dont think shifting down to first gear is a great idea. Even if your parking you should just put it into neutral and let the car push itself to the spot. If need more gas when you screwed up the first time, then put back to first gear and etc. (hope it made sense...)

...and generally you don't downshift into first unless you're almost or completely stopped, second works fine for slow corners unless you're on a racetrack

@beng993 They teach hand over hand turning in North America. I've heard that a lot of cars in the UK have smaller wheel bases/turning radius so you don't need to hand over hand. Personally I think that it is all preference as well as what kind of car you're driving and what kind of turn you're making. If you're on a race track obviously hand over hand is retarded.

I learned how to drive a 1970 Camaro Z28 with a 4 speed manual. Hardest car to drive in my 11 year old life. Because it was orginally bred for the race track is has a different clutch.

Yea, in auto, the car is moving on its own like a ghost and you struggle to keep it from moving too fast with the brake, there's not feeling at all.

With manual, you feel so proud when you get to move the car, since you need a little bit of skill. xD
