  • skill shot!

  • thats wat knuckle balls are for

  • No jodas Clase Golazo

  • how the hell do you bend it like that with the left foot ? :|

  • chingon!

  • the guy is a legend!

  • HQ? must be joking

  • On the second camera, the camera should have stayed still and waited for the ball to come back into the picture lol.

  • good video, fail music

  • look at 0:13 even the kid is bending to avoid the ball

  • This is very much possible and replicable. Its not that he kicks it with his outside foot, its the way he bends his foot and body to make a similar effect. You cannot induce that much power with the outside foot alone. He kicks it normally but with a different angle, slightly off the center of his foot, but with full surface area and maximum power. Because of the velocity and angle (motion of the ball within the air) a black hole almost swallowed the ball into a different dimension.

  • @logicCplusplus Wow velocity and angle huh? No shit Sherlock. Let us know if you ever score a goal like that using the intelligent-sounding drivel you theorised, then we'll see if it is "replicable". Till then a "What a goal!" would suffice. Cheers.

  • @47slayer

You don't think it is replicable? That means you must think it was "luck", but that wasn't even Carlos's best goal.

  • @47slayer Of course it is replicable. Carlos has done it so its obviously not impossible. Carlos is not superhuman. Of course, its not a goal that every second person would be able to score. It takes enormous strength and shooting technique to get a natural spin like that onto a ball. Remember that carlos has not bent a ball that strong ever since. Not even the impossible goal was that strong.

  • The best free kick in history!

  • Probably the best free kick we've ever seen. Grande Roberto Carlos!!

  • What an amazing KICK. Gives the word "free" a new definition, woah.

  • Roberto Carlos was always known as a great free-kick taker, but how many goals has really scored on free-kicks? He has a great powerful shot, but he hasn't really got that many goals on free-kicks

  • @AbbeyNO actually he did manage to score quite a bit of freekicks. It was not just his strength that made him famous. He also had an unusual technique of shooting the ball which only few players can do. I did not see that technique in C. Ronaldo although he is a good freekick taker as well.

  • @LSBonnPower Yeah, there's not many with the same shot technique

  • All the people saying this is fake obviously don't know too much about football/soccer, if you want proof that this is real, watch my free kicks hd video, or just search outside foot curve... Just because you can't do it, doesn't mean it can't be done.

  • amazing

  • lol are you people serious? he curves the ball with the outside of his foot, and then it hits the inside of the goal post and bounces in. nice shot, but normal shot with a lucky twist at the end

  • @shipuuga i think LUCK played a VERY small role on this free kick, this guy has been training that for years!

  • You know, I read online on a polish news paper website that they have now discovered that this shot was pure skill. Many Physicians believed that there was a little bit of wind pushing the ball back. Now they finally discovered that there was no wind and it was pure skill. In order to succeed in doing this shot you have to have 2 things:

    1. Skill

    2. Strength

    What a mistery goal

  • Hello Spiegel-Readers!

  • @mastouris69

    sorry, that's not a fake. i saw it 1997 live on tv - it's absolutely 100% real!!!

  • @mastouris69

who...someone obviously has no grasp on the laws of physics...

  • @TheDarklordganon

everybody of the Big Physics say that this is normally not possible, and you say i have no grasp of Physics? Are you Einstein?

  • it is REALLY strange, that in the 3 moments, when he kicks the ball, it is not possible to see from which side of the foot he touches the ball. all 3 scenes are cut!

    anyone can tell why??

  • at 0:03/0:04, 0:11/0:12 and 0:18/0:19

  • @kikikawe

yes because it is fake.this is not possible with any shot

  • Najluđi gol iz slobodnih udaraca ikad! Roberto Carlos, Brazil:Francuska, 1997.

  • JABULAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII

  • em compensação esse mesmo Roberto Carlos, nos fez perder a Copa de 2006 ao se abaixar para puxar a meia.

  • dump the music

  • Brazilian Roberto Carlos's 1997 free-kick against France curved so sharply that it left goalkeeper Fabian Barthez standing still and looking puzzled.

Now, a study published in the New Journal of Physics suggests that the long-held assumption that the goal was a fantastic fluke is wrong.

Didnt think it was fluke anyway :D ! Carlos legendry goal!

  • defenition of screamer!

  • Fluke? Do you realise how many fucking incredible goals that this man has scored. Put the crack pipe down son.

  • wish 50 would do something like this again. it sounds like a whole world away from anything he brought out afterwards

  • One of my favourite players ever, football and fuck all else, Madrid and Brazil, what else would you want, on the wing of a Dove, laid some enormous eggs.

  • un fuckin real, a class goal.

  • Definitely not a fluke. Roberto Carlos hit the ball with the outside of his foot, which causes a ball to swerve. Try it yourself. So he wanted the ball to swerve. Not a fluke. He knew what he was doing.

  • awesome .

  • I preferred the commentary - that song is not really all that

  • Regardless of who you support, this was a cracking goal!

  • Dirty French bastards.......guess where I'm from?

  • @fundoranFC Tahiti?

  • HAHA at the ball boy ducking behind the ad boards

  • The ball boy ducking always makes me laugh

  • I WAS BEHIND THE GOAL!

  • Wonderful clip - shame about the irritating music!

  • The French!

  • @caraquinha The French!

  • @caraquinha yeah i came from BBC and this was no fluke it was pure skill At the end of the day i think this subject was only brought up to encourage more football from younger players and make those responsible (paper pushers) look good

  • @caraquinha LOL Good one. I never thought this was a fluke. BECAUSE This is the first time I've seen it!

I thought they were talking about his corner kick goal which was more famous, lol.

  • @caraquinha Never thought it was a fluke. Searching for this video I found another one which you should be able to see in the "Suggestions" with a similar shot almost parallel to the goal...

And let's not forget that this is a guy who was usually a defender...

    Respect.

  • @caraquinha - stupid fuckwits over on the bbc news team apparently... dickheads they all are.
