He's just doing a different interpretation- not one that you might use, but he does it with sincerity and he gets the point across.

@jamanticus Shafran has incredible technique, he is even more talented with Rostropovich, But after thirty, he went crazy and started vibrating like crazy. He used to play like Rostropovich, piatigorsky, and fuermann but then something hit him and he started going backwards. Thats why Rostropovich was so much more famous.
