This makes so much sense to me but its so hard to put into practice. When I treat girls with the attitude "I want you but I don't need you and you arn't going to stop me from doing what I really want to do" they go crazy for me. But once I fall in love with them and start bending over backwards to please them they get bored of me. It's so hard for me to keep that mindset when I care about them so much :(

Other than that you are right about expressing yourself and not being afraid to open up. You should be able to talk about what you are really feeling. @Jizzle76 the problem here is that because a lot of girls have experience with complete doormats they might equate being nice as being a doormat sometimes, simply because experience tells them that's what's going on. They're not wrong per se, but it's subconsciously generalizing. If you get beat up by a dude of the same ethnicity 20 times in a row, you might start avoiding guys of that ethnicity in back alleys; doesn't mean you're a racist, but experience 'is' programming your behavior.

@DeanLeysen - concerning your comment about doormats: I disagree. It isn't because of prejudice in the girls' heads. It's because the moment you are getting 'too nice' like Jizzle76 describes, you are often entering a dependent kind of relationship, i.e. guys make their entire happiness depend on the chick. Another thing I have noticed is that assholes get their relationships to work by doing something mean, then using it as an excuse to be really nice and make up for it, but they are disproportionately nice compared to the little mean thing they did. What happens when you're being yourself, and the girl seems really nice... you get together, have a romance but then you fall in love and are naturally inclined to want to be more 'soft' with her (because you love her) and then she turns into a bitch once she realises that you are being 'too nice'? Did that ever happen to you? Because it sort of makes you feel jaded that you have to keep up with some 'rule' about 'being yourself' that doesn't involve being sensitive. Any thoughts?

@Jizzle76 the problem here is that because a lot of girls have experience with complete doormats they might equate being nice as being a doormat sometimes, simply because experience tells them that's what's going on. They're not wrong per se, but it's subconsciously generalizing. If you get beat up by a dude of the same ethnicity 20 times in a row, you might start avoiding guys of that ethnicity in back alleys; doesn't mean you're a racist, but experience 'is' programming your behavior.

@DeanLeysen - concerning your comment about doormats: I disagree. It isn't because of prejudice in the girls' heads. It's because the moment you are getting 'too nice' like Jizzle76 describes, you are often entering a dependent kind of relationship, i.e. guys make their entire happiness depend on the chick. That's unattractive. They should keep a fulfilled life independently of her, then they'd also stay more interesting to the girl and could probably be sweet to her without looking like a wuss.

Is it any wonder that a great percentage of marriages are sexless (mostly due to wives losing interest)? If your DNA programmed you to be a beta male, you will never be an alpha, but you can raise your status and help yourself live a more fulfilled life before your youth is gone and you are left with regret that you have not lived life to the fullest. Another thing, If you're like me and you're that strong silent type. but you have a problem following up(not like me) here's the thing, girls like bad boys because you know what to expect from them, a volting exciting constant rollercoaster that doesnt quite end. now when you're mysterious is cool in the beginning you're going to have to tell her something about you at some point, and it'll make her feel special she that she knows more about strong silent guy than anyone else.

I think "be confident" and "be yourself" are somehow equal, one can't exist without another. When you aren't confident you don't think your personality is "good enough" and then you pretend someone else. When you are confident, you just don't have to pretend anyone else because you think your behavior is "right" and you don't have to change anything.

Another thing I have noticed is that assholes get their relationships to work by doing something mean, then using it as an excuse to be really nice and make up for it, but they are disproportionately nice compared to the little mean thing they did. Most men don't have the confidence to just do something nice, but if you can be confident and once in a while do something nice for your girl then you don't have to be a dick to justify it.

Yeah this pretty much sums it up. It's hard for some men to separate the "girls like assholes" dynamic without seeing its more about confidence and not being who you think the girl might like (they can recognize the bullshit for what it is - and its a turnoff). It's a balance to be respectful while being true to yourself. Be confident but don't be an a**hole.
There are women who truly like guys who are dicks, but no guy should want that girl. She'll end up on Springer in no time flat.
