Crespo wasn't that bad as far as a standard pentatonic player - I thought his solo for Three Mile Smile on the Night In The Ruts album was very good. Don't get me wrong, I love Joe Perry, but it is not like you can put him up there with Paul Gilbert, Steve Vai, Michael Angelo, or Yngwie Malmsteen as far as ability is concerned.
I loved "Done with Mirrors" when it came out - 'smith was rockin' as hard as the 70s on it and this Joe Perry Project song was a great kick off for the LP. This is the first time I've seen the video - I wonder if Slash got any ideas from the bootlegger with his hat?! :-)
One thing that bothers me is that at the beginning and the end of the video, when the song info. is shown, the album is identified as "Done With The Mirrors." The album is called "Done With Mirrors." I may be O.C.D.ing about this, but how could VH1 overlook a detail as significant as the album name?
Music changes. This album is damn different than "Aerosmith" or "Get Your Wings." They've changed with the times, but they still kick ass. You can't honestly say that the music business or time or taste don't affect the artists.
Pop culture drives pop music especially with a band like Aerosmith whom was the brainchild of the one and only Clive Davis of American Idol lore.
If you ask me, Aerosmith was another one of those bands that "split up malevolently ", doing their best imitation of the Hollywood spin-off, to garner more bang for the buck for the record companies.
Unfortunately their talent , or lack thereof, couldn't carry them "solo" so they had to go back to whoring for the likes of Davis and his ilk.
Dam. I was in this video...somewhere...24 years ago. there were only about 60 people in the audience. We shot from 8:00pm until 4:00am at the Orphium. Must have heard them do this song 200 times. They played a little private show for us too. Shot 6 'live' vids the next day.
Alice In Chains was the same way. It's a shame that the best music comes from being messed up on heroin. This song is proof. Hands down my favorite Aerosmith song. Miles above all the radio pop induced crap they put out now.
When Aerosmith truly rocked. Their best song, hands down! Joe Perry just lets it all fly in this tune. Good job boys....wish you could get back to this type of rock & roll! When it came from the soul & you played for yourselves.
its funny... in 1985 Aero was as good as dead sorta kinda, and just a few months later in 1987 they exploded back onto the commercial scene with PV and back into the running! Heck, theyve been around so long that 1987 was them at mid-career, and Aerosmith is STILL around and rockin!!
Ahh yes. When Aerosmith rocked for real. Just before that gay Permanent Vacation, Janie's got a gun crap. They thought badly of this time period because they were so messed up on heroin but the music was still good.

those guys are too technical and are
interested in shredding and how many notes they can run per-milla-second.
however, they can rip it! and that's cool too!
coming up with badass riffs is a million
times more difficult though...and joe and
brad are geniuses in doing so.

I agree, it's not their best, but still an awesome album. I don't think a shitty Aerosmith album exists, the concept is an oxymoron in and of itself.
