I find it very funny in the ironi way that Germany in ww2 team-worked also with Japan, beacuse the german nazi army they didn't like people with black skin color but many japanese had it, anyone get the ironi? xD. it's like to like some people you usually hate
@Axel54631 I dont recall any battles fought with and combined of japans forces and Germanys force other than the the higher ranking meeting eachother from time to time
JAPANESE goal to Pacific was to occupy other nations.. locate strategic positons,, rob all the Natural resources of occupied countries for their EMPIRE...they are ROBBERS...
to: yusukegarners - Japan desired a rise to dominance in East Asia. They have always believed they are a "superior" race. They lacked the natural resources to become fully industrialized, therefore they invaded China (with horrifying results). The US placed an embargo on all shipping to Japan, forcing them to react. Result = War in the Pacific. The "Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere" was nothing more than an excuse for Japan to colonize the Far East in ways much worse than Europe ever did.
I would argue Japan had no obligation to retaliate against the US's economic restrictions. A war in the Pacific drained their resources and enticed a military power into war against them. Admiral Yamamoto phrased this sentiment well: "I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve." Japan should have taken the embargo in stride without military response.
@2210ethan , I dont believe you, many of my relatives died as victims of their atrocities..marketing that idea to be free and unite...you did not read the history of Japanese ocupation here...if you are victim of this heinous crime probable, you can forget nor learn to forgive to those living Japs...
The modern US Navy is the most powerful fighting force on the planet and the first and best line of defense this country has. The Navy deploys land, sea and air forces. Anyone ever deployed on a long cruise knows the hard and dangerous work envolved.
I know what the US Navy does, I did 5 years active duty in a F-18 fighter squadron as a mechanic made 3 deployments back to back to back. I am saying that the Navy has not seen up close and personal Navy vs Navy combat since WWII, most combat now a days is done by aircraft over there in Afghanistan doing Close Air Support for ground forces.
I did 7. The first 4 years on a DDG and the last 3 as a HM. The reason we don't have those types of battles is because we're the best Navy in the world and we do our jobs. Here's an idea: lets ignore all threats so the enemy can build up their forces enough so guys like you can feel tough. If we get to this level of combat it's because somebody FUCKED UP. Your comment "when the Navy was the Navy" was insulting to the extreme to those who serve today--even to yourself.
How long have you been out? Actually it is not insulting to make that comment, if anything it's a compliment. The Navy has changed the way they act, and deal with their people, and it is not for the better in my opinion and my other folks opinion. I watched the last of the old Navy go out, and the new "nicer" more political Navy come in and take over. The Navy is now acting more like a Corporation than a Military unit with it's personnel, it's hard to explain unless you've seen the changes.
@Pittimus84 your right... the usa spends 200 billion a year on their navy... and it hasnt fought a naval battle sence late 1945.... so why not give that money 2 nasa
Well, I tried finding pure footage from reels but it is hard to find that way. Plus it can get very expensive to pay for raw footage. So I buy documentaries on DVD from History oriented media providers, use a movie maker like Nero or Premiere to chop them, sort them, remove the sound, piece together and time the footage to my own music of choice. Keep in mind war footage is considered public domain and not solely owned by a company or individual. Only private production can keep a copyright.

Well, the occupied countries have many vivid memories of Japan's attempts to 'free and reunite' them.
