I like Eastwood because he's quite liberal on certain issues and conservative on others; he doesn't fit in so easily for any one party and seems very balanced
Why didn't Eastwood win any academy awards this year for Gran Torino? Why didn't he even get nominated? The "new" Hollywood is filled with a bunch of bigots. Cause they are biased towards their liberal view-points.
Perhaps you're unaware that Eastwood has received seven Oscar nominations in this decade and two in the previous decade. Both "Gran Torino" and "Changeling" failed to receive the critical recognition that they deserved, but politics aren't the reason.
Additionally, Eastwood's politics on some issues are quite liberal. For instance, he has opposed the Iraq war and supported the right of gays to marry.
@jeb31415 "Passable"? I do think that "Gran Torino" is a great film, but the lack of recognition stemmed not from Hollywood liberalism and instead from the movie's rawness and lack of sentimentality, On average, Hollywood tends to reward sentimentality and avoid subversion.
In what way does Hollywood avoid subversion? Isn't Hollywood almost entirely market-driven? If subversive themes would draw an audience, then wouldn't Hollywood jump in? The very event would seem to make the theme non-subversive though.
@jeb31415 Yeah, almost by definition, subversive themes lack broad commercial appeal. Obviously, exceptions exist, especially if they come attached to a popular star, but most popular stars avoid consistent subversion.
Uplift, sentimentality, and polish or "neatness" tend to play to most commercial and even critical sensibilities. Occasionally, Hollywood will break in the other direction, but not too often.
John McCain is stealing votes via e-voting machines. Compare the overwhelming support of Ron Paul vs other "front-runners" - ronpaul[DOT]meetup{DOT]com/about ... McUnconstitutional has less than 200 grassroots supporters while Ron Paul over a hundred thousand leaders and growing exponentially.
Clint is the man he eats so much pussy even for his age.

@GOPactivist
It was a passable movie but not great by any standard. Only the "liberals" of your imagination would evaluate that movie from a political standpoint.

Clint Eastwood is the only man in Hollywood who can be a republican, and be loved by Hollywood and liberals

Only Ron Paul can beat Obama. Oh well.

Can't believe Clint likes mccain. So depressing. McCain will lose in a landslide to Obama. The YOUTH will decide this election. Not the evangelicals.

Clint says he watched the debates, sounds just like Paul, yet doesn't want to mention his name.
The brotherhood can be a bitch sometimes.

Looks like Neil has came around. He used that opportunity to Give Paul a voice. He slipped it in even though they told him not to mention Pauls name.

I'm so fucking disappointed with Clint.
He must know that John McCain is slurring his speach whilst talking about a 100 year war.
Ron Paul ISN"T pulling out! He knows more about Semper Fidelity than all the rest put together.
