@scimart the flywheel has fins on both sides. look at the video and you can see how much to cut off. leave about a 1/4 inch on both sides of the magnet.
Hmm, that's what I was afraid of - I recently aquired what seems to be a brand new part converted 28cc McCulloch - looks fairly professional with a well machined 6 bolt prop adapter but the flywheel seems to have been machined down more than others I've seen - probably to within @ an 1/8 of an inch from the magnets - is this a grenade waiting to explode?
@scimart ive seen them cut that much, but I dont cut them that far. I dont know if it will let go but dont stand in front of it when you run it. if your worried about it get another flywheel. you can get a junk engine at a lawn mower shop cheap. you can run it without machining it dow. it does not save that much weight. ;-)
Where can I find a prop adapter like that for my McCulloch 2816? I built a R/C airboat and the only thing left to do is mount the prop. Can you help me please?
do you have any photos on what you did to the engine so i can do the same thing too ... i need all the help u can give me thanks you for the nice video... i wound love to make a DC -3 airplane to fly R/C
Do you know the minimum width that the flywheel can be safely machined to?

Thanks for the very qick replies. I suppose the other alternative is a CDI conversion...are these engines reasonably balanced without the flywheel?

@scimart I heard its hard to get gas engines there, I sent my buddy 2 engines I converted to the isle of wight. yes they run smooth with no flywheel.
