  • Do you know the minimum width that the flywheel can be safely machined to?

  • @scimart the flywheel has fins on both sides. look at the video and you can see how much to cut off. leave about a 1/4 inch on both sides of the magnet.

    ;-)

  • @buderboi

Hmm, that's what I was afraid of - I recently aquired what seems to be a brand new part converted 28cc McCulloch - looks fairly professional with a well machined 6 bolt prop adapter but the flywheel seems to have been machined down more than others I've seen - probably to within @ an 1/8 of an inch from the magnets - is this a grenade waiting to explode?

  • @scimart ive seen them cut that much, but I dont cut them that far. I dont know if it will let go but dont stand in front of it when you run it. if your worried about it get another flywheel. you can get a junk engine at a lawn mower shop cheap. you can run it without machining it dow. it does not save that much weight. ;-)

  • @buderboi

Thanks for the very qick replies. I suppose the other alternative is a CDI conversion...are these engines reasonably balanced without the flywheel?

  • @scimart I heard its hard to get gas engines there, I sent my buddy 2 engines I converted to the isle of wight. yes they run smooth with no flywheel.

  • did you move the coil

  • no, thats the stock location!

  • kool could you tell me exactly how you mounted the propeller on there and what you needed? Thanks!

  • hi, I made a propeller adaptor. you can buy them off ebay or just do a search.

    ;-D

  • Hello,

Where can I find a prop adapter like that for my McCulloch 2816? I built a R/C airboat and the only thing left to do is mount the prop. Can you help me please?

    Thank you!

  • do a google search for propeller adaptors.

    ;-D

  • how fast does the prop spin at full power

  • about 7800 RPM :-)

  • what size plane do you think this would fit? (or better yet) Would it fit a .46 or .60 plane?

  • no, this engine is for giant scale airplanes.

    ;-D

  • Is that a chainsaw engine?

  • yes it is. ;-)
