That's because the same people made it. Sort of. Command & Conquer was originally owned and developed by Westwood Studios who also developed similar strategy games under the Dune franchise. I think this one came out a year or so after Red Alert 2. Before EA swallowed them up.

"Classic".. has it been that long now? Dune2 was the first game I completed, and I've read a bunch of Herbert books because of it. Fell in love with the universe. Spent so many hours playing various titles, Emperor by far the most. It's an incredible game. I wish they would make a sequel or anything in it's image again..

I remember building an army of those big, slow walker mechs, and marched them up to the enemy base with anticipation. Then they got eaten by a sandworm along the way. All of them. The randomness of the game mechanics put a few people off.

This game had AMAZING soundtrack, thanks to Klepacki, but it was a terrible game. Westwood made RTS, and then the jews at EA took over the whole thing and ran it to the ground. Sad sad sad..

@Sinekyre14 Indeed, Klepacki creates GREAT music and although he helped with this game, he only did the music for House Atreides. Jarrid Mendelson did the Ordos music and David Arkenstone did the music for the Harkonnen. And yeah EA sucks!

One of the best things about EmperorL Battle for Dune is the Sandworms, Tornados, etc. It's pretty scary seeing a huge thing come out of the sand and start chasing your units!

i have to say, the ai voice in this is more annoying than the one in dune 2000... i like the harkonnen voice, and also the ordos voice but the atreides one gets so annoying since 7/10 of my "practice mode" games are played as atreides

Dune 2 was 1993 I believe, and about a year older than Warcraft. Look at those two games with dosbox, and you can see how far the standards in sound and graphics came in just a short while. Then in late 1995 C&C, a massive leap forward. I prefer Total Annihilation as a game over Starcraft, though I think since these two were released the only RTS that comes close to greatness is Warcraft 3. I love Red Alert, but it's just a different version of C&C.

Dune II was the very first RTS. Warcraft was not released until 1994. :) Dune II ultimately paved the way for all other RTS games.

My favourite RTS was Dune 2000, and the online play had me hooked instantly. This game was a mere shell of both its predecessors. In terms of the ultimate RTS though, you'd be hard pressed to argue that title probably belongs to Starcraft. Honestly though, I never could really get into the original and Starcraft II is already losing my interest. >.<

u could of put the game speed to 7 or 8 like me if u wanna know a MEGA cheat for ordos missions then all u gotta do is as soon as u start build factory and upgrade refinery then build about 10 kobras very fast and then send them in and the enemy will have no units and lots of buildings! easy
