freshprince, utube (& i would guess the world) is made-up of 2 types of fans:
1- u have kids who have never seen players pef4m from as recent as 10 yrs ago, so they feel 2day's player is the end-all, b-all
2- u have old-timers who still think that the world is flat, so they feel n their minds that a 6'10" bill russell could still dominate the paint the same xact way he did n the late 50's-60's
i have childhood favorites but they don't blind my judgment, others just can't let go of their beliefs

I wouldnt say most overrated of all time. He was a great defender. That knee injury slowed him down a lot though. After that he was never the same on ball defender.
