I actually enjoy the simpler pokemon from the first/second gen. Like, once they become too complicated (Genesect, Garbodor, Gigalith... etc.) they just seem more like... well, actual monsters instead of animals. I liked my pokemon to make sense, instead of trying to look lke big, clunky Yugioh/Telefang ripoffs ;)
