I've ever been the Tibet area in Qinghai province, and have some friends of Tibetans. They have got more opportunities and benefits in education, career, and etc. So in most of blend families (Han and minority), the parents prefer to choice the minority nationality for their new born child.
The troop just control the riot, not oppress the Tibetans. Few mob aren't equal to the Tibetans.
"Peace is precious" is a important feature in Chinese culture.

You left the Tibetans out of the euqation. They have always been protesting for half a century already and the people all over the world have been sympathizing with them ever since. They don't have to be told by the BBC or CNN. CNN only was established in the 80s. Remember, the core issue here is Tibet for the Tibetans, not China or US. Even if once Tibet is free and will be occupied by the US by force. People will be protesting too. So don't confuse "Free Tibet" and "American Foreign Policy".

They never asked Tibetans if they wanted any sort of economy at the expense of their way of life. And they never stopped to respect human rights before arbitrarily arresting, torturing and killing thousands of Tibetans. ruin the Olympic Torch. I am looking forward to watching the "sharp shooter" and "equastrian" or "horse dancing" event on A&E, sister station of NBC America. (since it is lesser events...it may be shown during off hours or on another station again). I enjoy watching these events. Interesting to note that the Chinese dissidents don't protest the torch relay. Reason: They also oppose the independence of Tibet. Finally the pro Dalai Lama activists help to unify the Han Chinese.

What I love...is that all this attention is given to a small group of Tibetans(2.6 million people in Tibet) and yet there are sooo many other groups out there that get no attention..i.e. the Kurds..the largest unrepresented minority in the world.

Paris and London are the 4th and 5th stops for Olympic torch. The previous 3 stops were mostly fine. e.g., Olympic torch in Russia 3 days ago was all peace, harmony and unity. It just shows the un-civilization of some people in some part of western Europe.

Only few people are asking for the boycott. We are not asking for the boycott... even dalai lama is not asking for it. We are asking to stop violence in tibet, STOP THE CRACKDOWN, STOP THE KILLING, STOP THE GENOCIDE, and give human rights for tibetans in tibet. N olympic is a good platform for the protest.

I think you have no knowledge about what the tibetan government in exile and his holiness dalai lama wants. We are not asking for a free independent tibet anymore, it's impossible but we are asking for an autonmous region(TAR). we want to live side by side... but chinese gov. is not ready to do that and instead they want to control tibet by force. they execute, torture people and media in china is not showing all of that which is why people like you are completely brainwashed.

Ask anyone in China or just other rational people living around the world with knowledge about china and they will tell you that Tibet is already an automous region. We haven't lived side by side is because you guys hate our government and instead of hitting on the police you hurt or even kill other Han citizens. Tibet has already more freedom than other provinces in China and if you are tibetan you receive also priviledge from government policies as Minority People in China. What's to protest?
